Greetings—

I am Master Saa'liss, Jedi historian and one of the last surviving members of our noble Order. In light of recent events in our galaxy, I have decided to undertake the daunting task of providing a historical record tracing the conflict our galaxy presently finds itself embroiled in back to its roots. It is my hope that such a record will help provide insight into the state of our galaxy in these tumultuous times and give us a glimpse into what may lie ahead.

I have chosen to begin with the event that first inspired me to begin compiling this record: the rumors of rebel cells that have begun to appear and oppose the Sith Empire's dominion over the galaxy and the revelation that the Jedi Order is not as extinct as the Sith would have the rest of the galaxy believe.

Sez38nf.jpg
In the five centuries since the supposed eradication of the Jedi Order and the end of the Hundred-Year Darkness, the Sith Empire has risen to domination over the known galaxy. It absorbed the Republic and, after a tedious war with the Hutt Clan, Hutt Space, as well, turning them into the territories of Imperial Republica and Imperial Hutta respectively. The Empire subsequently moved its seat to Coruscant—for centuries the center of galactic power when it was the seat of the Republic—and created a third distinct territory in the process: the Old Empire, consisting of Moraband, Korriban, and the rest of the Sith Worlds.

The reign of the Empire succeeded in bringing an end to the wars of that era. But despite the peace that the Sith Empress Andraste brought in the wake of her conquest of the galaxy, not everyone was happy to accept the rule of the galaxy's new Sith overlords. Citizens in the Republic grumbled about the authoritarian regime that had overthrown their democratic government without their consent. To placate these citizens, as well as prevent riots and wholesale revolt, the Sith Empress allowed the Senate to continue existing, though, secretly, she stripped it of its governing powers so as to give the illusion of democracy while retaining sole governing power for herself.

The denizens of Hutt Space were less easily placated. For a century, while the Jedi and Dark Jedi—and later the Jedi and the Sith—warred among themselves, the Hutt Clan was free to extend its criminal enterprise beyond the borders of Hutt Space, from Ryloth to Alderaan to Brentaal IV, without Jedi intervention or supervision. But with the advent of Sith rule over the galaxy, Jedi policing had been replaced by Sith policing, which was much harsher due to the Hutt lorda Nem'ro's betrayal of the Sith Empress's original peace arrangement with the Hutts.

It is here, in these early moments, that I believe the first seeds of rebellion against the Sith Empire are planted. These seeds are allowed to sprout and grow over the next five centuries as Sith rule increasingly became more authoritarian. For instance, though the first Sith Empress, Andraste, was adamantly anti-slavery due to her experience with the Hutts, successive generations of Sith rulers were not so progressive. Eventually, the influence of the Zygerrians, the Sith species, and the Hutts prevailed and entire worlds were enslaved to fuel the Sith Empire's continued expansion and advancement.

But the moment that truly sparks the fire of rebellion in the galaxy, I believe, was the return of the Jedi Order. The truth is, we Jedi never died off, as the Sith would have the galaxy believe. Our last leader, Grand Master Wyck, sent half of the Order away with the order that we were to remain hidden until the time was right to emerge again.

And, so, for five centuries, we have stayed hidden, bid our time, and waited for the right moment to emerge. The Sith believe the rumors of our continued survival to be farce and superstition. But we are here. We are alive and well. Some of us at the helm of the various rebel cells that have appeared throughout the galaxy—others still in quiet exile, waiting for the moment the galaxy needs us to take up our lightsabers again. A moment, I believe, that is fast approaching.

But we are not the only voices of dissent against the Empire's reign, nor are we the only ones to see our culture and history slowly erased by Sith oppression. Ironically, the Mandalorians—who were once the vanguards of the Sith assault against the Jedi Order five centuries ago—now chance open rebellion or risk extinction themselves. The roots of their relationship to the Jedi, the Sith, and to the conflict currently embroiling our galaxy will be the subject of my next report...

Introducing the Jedi Order and Rebellion Faction!

For the eighth timeline, the Rebels and the Jedi will be a single faction. Because of the virtual extermination of the Jedi Order during the timeline of The First Sith, the Jedi will start small. Only a few player characters (PCs)— a maximum of five (5) decided upon by the Rebellion Faction Leader—will start out the timeline as Jedi. In the spirit of the Original Trilogy era of Star Wars, those Force-sensitive PCs who wish to become Jedi will need to seek out the survivors and learn the ways of the Jedi from them with the goal of restoring the Jedi Order to its former glory!

The rebels themselves are a ragtag group of freedom fighters from all walks of life—former Imperials, Republic loyalists, Jedi sympathizers, criminals, and even some extremists—who want to see the galaxy free of the oppression of the Sith Empire by whatever means!

Four other dedicated players working on an intrinsic plot, my God it sounds like heaven. Good luck and best wishes to those that get selected.

Happy to see good reactions to the limited Jedi so far! We wanted to play a post almost-extinction scenario realistically. We're hoping for the faction to develop organically based on stories these 5 PCs write with others, and then those other PCs pass on the knowledge and so on. A very unique method we haven't tried before :)

Sounds like a good approach and truly opens up opportunities for character development to those who may not be selected. I look forward to seeing what the new time line brings.

So will all Jedi PCs next TL need to begin as non-Jedi and then have to interact with an existing Jedi to become Jedi, even after the first 5 have trained more Jedi? That sounds awesome! If it starts out like that then we'll have a lot of organic story development for the Jedi!

How will it be decided who becomes a Jedi and who isn't?

I’m certain the FL will be given guidelines/use their own discretion as to who to select as the 5 PCs. Perhaps a thread will be started asking who is planning on making a Jedi, and then they’ll be picked from there.

At the beginning, yes. However, as it organically catches on and the faction becomes popular, we hope to see it go back to where you can start as a Jedi. However, the groundwork will need to be organically done so players need to pave the way for other players. The faction will do as well as the effort people put in :)

When reading up on the Mandalorians and this, it sounded more like the Mandos and Rebels are in an unspoken/unofficial alliance of convenience. As in, they both happen to have the same enemy, but nether sides are actually 'allies' per say. That's just my guess, tho
