Intro and a few quick questions

Hey all! I stumbled upon this site while trying to scratch that Star Wars itch that simply can't be scratched with The KOTOR series. I seem to have found what I'm looking for and am excited to get started! I have role played before and love telling a good story while at the same times delving into the politics and intrigues of role playing with others.

Basically I'd like to start with a character who will sort of fall into the Jedi order. He would be force sensitive but unaware of this fact, simply believing his abilities to be natural. With that said this character has something of an inner darkness to him which I will elaborate more on when I formally create him. This should allow for me to move toward the Jedi but gravitate away later or even turn if I should so like. However, that would not be set in stone.

However, at the moment I do have a few questions regarding the state of the galaxy and role play in general:

1. Is Nar Shadaa controlled by the hutts in the timeline?

2. Is such a story trajectory possible or even allowed here? I've read the rules but I like to make sure first.

3. I would like to start with a few solo role plays that sort of create a background for my character for me only, how would I go about that?

4. In terms of factions how would intrigue or the such work? For instance, as a sith would I be able to claw my way up to the rank of Emperor given the chance and the luck? The rules that I have seen (and I may have missed them) do not explicitly outline this.

One more quick question:

Obviously this is a story that has a predestined outcome, the rise of the Galactic Republic. However, how much of the story is predetermined? Are Wars going to happen that the mods already know will be won by a certain faction? Or is everything besides the eventual end somewhat dynamic? Thanks again!

Welcome @RVFVS . This is our current faction territory map of the galaxy. If you want to apply for a Jedi you can look into the character creation forum and look at a few Jedi and/or Sith characters as reference. Here are all of the character templates that you can use when you are writing up/creating your character. As far as ranks go, with the Sith you can start off as a Marauder or inquisitor, whichever suits your fancy. You dont have to start as an Initiate if you dont want to. The title of Sith lord is appointed to only a few, you can rank up if you are active in the faction and what not. It is the same for Jedi, you can start off as a Jedi knight if you would like. It really all depends on you and your participation within the faction.

Thanks for the info. Would I be able to start as an independent and role play my way into a faction?

As I said I want this character to sort of fall into the Jedi Order not necessarily start there. I view it as separate arcs for the character, arc one is his discovery of his affinity for the force and his Introduction/recruitment into the Jedi, arc two would be his time with the Jedi after discovering said affinity and being recruited, arc three is his temptation to the dark side, how he reacts to this and where he goes from there. At that point I would obviously need to reevaluate the character and his story.

1. Nar Shaddaa is controlled by the Hutts and has been in previous years but if I am not mistaken the Jedi are laying siege to the planet at this very moment or plan to in the very near future. Is that correct @Valen Pelora ?

2.Players influence the story with their actions. You can read more about it here in the "Factions and Missions" section as well as the "War and The Story" section. The more missions and battles a faction successfully completes the more likely they will grow and expand their territory etc. Certain events are predetermined by the staff such as the fall of Coruscant a few months back leading to the Sith ultimately gaining control of the core systems.

3. You can do solo roleplays but they will be highly scrutinized if they affect any factions. For instance if you had your character kill ten Sith warriors then the Sith AFLs might question it. A better alternative may be to expand the character's bio to your liking. If the stories would be incredibly long then you might consider posting them in the Player Workshops thread under "Other" and then linking them to the profile. If you do choose that route I would also suggest summarizing everything that happens in the character's past in his bio as well because said stories could be a lot to have to read just to understand what happened to the character. Player Workshops is also where WIPs go but since your character is only missing the Personality section you might be alright as long as you finish that up. I also sent you a PM with some info.

We are not conducting any missions on Nar Shadda at this time. No plans to do so in the future. We are conducting missions on Nal Hutta.
