Heya everyone, me again but a different idea this time.
I can help but notice there is a lack of spacefighter pilots as characters put forwards. I would love to do my part to fix this but as my main character is a Jedi I can't join the BA. Which makes me question, who else is in that boat? So this is another testing of the waters and a rough outline of what I have in mind. Telos is an agrarian world with good soil and half a billion to a billion inhabitants. Its also cut off from the core by Sith Space. Its not part of the BA, its not part of the Republic, however its important in its own way on the Hyperspace Routes. It has a minor collection of Defence Forces but most are centered on its Starfighter Corps which patrol the local space to deal with pirates, smugglers and general defence. Or at least they did.
Telos makes an optimal first target for the Sith, as it is by and large alone. It is vastly out numbered, out gunned and is unlikely to be able to mount an effective defence. Telos will almost certainly fall. The only thing standing in their way is the pilots of the Starfighter Corps, if you are getting a Battle of Britain feel from this, that is the point. I want to capture all those 1940s pilot tropes, all the pilot tropes, a planet under siege and what comes afterwards. The interaction between the pilots, their enemies and what happens under that sort of pressure. Also keep in mind, a good dogfight doesn't mean that you will be killed if you lose, most pilots with protection have a chance of being rescued or a safeish crash landing. Though, it is certainly still dangerous as any other form of PvP. Also a few air force movies are all I'd expect from anyone when it comes to fighting posts. You don't need to know the G-tolerance or the absolute details of how space combat works, just enough to make it fun to play.
I am certain that Telos will fall sooner or later, so what do the characters do next? A heroic last stand, do they become freedom fighters, something else? I want to use this start as a stepping off point for a larger story, to work closely with the Sith in creating an interesting start and more than anything. Allowing those that want to do some kind or starfighting somewhere to do it and filling what I feel is a gap in the current faction lineup.
I am fully aware that this may skirt a grey area with that the Admins intend by restricting main factions but, dam it I want my Space Battle for Britain and if I can't be BA then we go it alone. ;p
So what do people think, what do people want? More over, is there someone out there that'd want to lead this if it takes off a little?
