Nick's cigarette flared as he inhaled before breathing out a small cloud of smoke. This was worse than the initial reports had been. The outpost laid in scored ruins ahead of him. It had been raided the day earlier by a new group of pirates who were looking to strike it big and if the reports were true, they may have just succeeded. The outpost belonged to a local weapons manufacturer that had been experimenting with a new explosive compound. It was extremely volatile if not handled correctly and could put thousands, if not more, in danger if fell into the wrong hands which it certainly would if they were able to get this thing to market.
Nick dropped the cigarette and stamped it out as he was handed a data pad of the initial findings. Apparently there had been fight between the pirates and the company's security forces which had resulted in one of the containers exploding which caused much of the damage they were seeing now. If one container of the unrefined compound could do this, what kind of damage would a ship full of the stuff do. He shifted his vest around as he handed the data pad back to the lower ranked officer. "Make sure we a monitoring the usual channels for weapons out in the Outer Rim. I imagine that's where this stuff will end up if we don't find them. " he said as he started walking towards the outpost.
A full day head start was putting the Rangers at a significant disadvantage. They would need to get lucky, and act quickly if they had any chance of finding these thugs before every Hutt in the Outer Rim had a crate of the stuff.
