INTEREST CHECK --- Border, a neutral and honest news source

Hey Star Wars RP crew! So I was in Photoshop yesterday occupying myself by brushing up on my graphic design work, and (as I usually do) wound up catering to my characters with some OC related graphics. I brewed up the idea of making a little IC magazine cover using my character's face claim, relating to some bad business he'd found himself wrapped up in last time I roleplayed him.​

I had so much fun making it that I got to thinking it would make for a pretty interesting IC news resource that I could put out possibly weekly (or twice a week, pretty easy to make if I'm inspired.) I could start a thread for Border and people's reactions to it, and could even start getting people in for certain issues. Maybe cover some big Sith vs. Jedi fights, or the dealings happening with organizations like Czerka or the Sector Rangers. The interviews for spots could be done entirely IC, which could make things even more interesting, (irritating Mass Effect style press? yes please.)

I guess I'm just gauging the room to see what people think, or if they'd respond / interact and acknowledge Border if I did get it going. If enough people give support I'd set up a character (C.E.O / Chairman type) to cater specifically to making Border a prevalent source. It could also be a great advertising opportunity for other factions and groups. I want Border to focus heavily on the far reaches of the galaxy, and bringing unbiased opinions on the happenings that occur in dark corners of the galaxy.

A good counter to Czerka's totally unbiased news program, I could see some interesting interactions between the two companies as they fight for stories.

Yknow people are always looking for a way to really catch up on what has happened in the current timeline. This could be a good source for a brief overview of what's happened so far.

I loved the idea of Czerka News Network when it started, and I definitely love the idea of competing news sources. If you get something going, you can definitely rely on me to support both networks.

This would be cool to see. Considering we currently have two very biased news networks already, I'd be interested in seeing an unbiased chronicle of recent events where people can catch up on things.

But, as promised, if this thread got good enough feedback, I'd throw up a thread for Border and people reacting to reading it. As for the company itself, I think I'll follow the model of IRL news sources like VICE and NOISEY and focus heavily on field reporting. Being alongside battles and participating in threads so that the information can be firsthand accounts. I'd also like to start having IC interviews with as many characters as possible (given they're important to current happenings.) So if anyone wants to be included in an article and I don't reach out at first, PM me for planning!

Amazing work! I love the graphics and the well-written articles (are you a rl journalist?) in the Border. It's cool to read up on these news networks, especially since I don't exactly have the time to read all the threads going on currently.
Being more of a 'field reporting' type magazine, I'm assuming you'd be writing more about actual events (like the battle of Felucia) rather than the expansion of a business, for example. However, I'd love to set up an interview with Davian Price, perhaps when he expands PriceCorp to more planets across the Galaxy. He would die to have his face on the front page of a news article!

Haha, nah, nothing like that. I went to school for graphic design, but I'm nowhere near committed enough to pursue journalism. I'll leave that to someone who isn't lazy as hell :rolleyes:
