Hi I'm new here. I used to play the old D6 Star Wars RPG and then switched to the updated d6 one (the one with the lucky die). Of course that was nearly 20 years ago! I haven't RPed since then but I have been around the edges of trying it out again a few times, even purchasing core rulebooks. To be honest I am hoping to practice my writing skills. I haven't used any of those in nearly the same time!

I'm planning on making a mechanic/smuggler. He will be inheriting his father's spaceship ... and gambling debt of course ... in need of bring home money for the family. Then the troubles ensue! So if you have a story you think I'd fit in please message me or post here! As soon as I flesh out the character sheet I'll be jumping in head first.

A question on the character sheet. Is there a specific RPG book I should be using? I DLed the saga edition and the d20 edition. I have read the d20 one before but the saga is completely new to me. Is there a preferred book or does this site use its own rules system? I saw the character creation template but that didn't really clear it up for me.

This site doesn't follow any of the RPG rule books. It's not a D20 or D6 system or anything like that, it's purely a writing RP here. Stats are simply an easy way to gauge a characters strength, some people don't even put them on their character sheets because they really don't hold any water on this site. The strength or lack thereof of your character is based on your own writing skills. And from what I've gathered there really aren't many "rules" as far as character creation goes. As long as you follow the disallowed species and planet list located here, you should be fine. And if you plan on ever making a Jedi or Sith new members have to start at Padawan or Acolyte respectively. If you have any questions about making up your character sheet don't hesitate to hit me up with a PM. I'm more than willing to help. :]

*Thumbs up* I've played the d20, actual roleplay stuff, it's great. It is different here, but nothing to crazy, unless you get mauled by babies wiv rabies which seem to have a large population on Coruscant. Besides that it's great fun, pretty laid back, and filled with great people.

Welcome, welcome! Nice to have another DnD-style RPGer here. However, this is Role Play by Thread (RPT as I know it), which is rather different. But, I think you will find it has a style that is rather palatable.
