Ao had never travelled to Ifrane. Her training had previously included pilgrimage to various locations sacred to the Jedi Order, but she had never had a reason to visit the Jedi Praexum. The climate was a nice change from the more temperate weather conditions she was accustomed to. Rolling grasslands were scattered with shrubs and isolated trees, although the area in proximity to the Jedi enclave seemed to be more densely occupied by greenery.

The temple itself was a rather modest structure. Its stony exterior blended nicely into the horizon; the intention of its constructors was no doubt to ensure that it did not attract unwanted attention. Perhaps the most interesting feature of the training facility was a giant tree located in the yard that served as the temple's landing platform. Ao had been disappointed to learn that, despite what she had been told by an overly enthusiastic Padawan, the Praexum harbored only a humble library. The local Jedi archives had been the young Jedi's most anticipated stop on her journey.

Brighthome was the reason for her trip to Ifrane. The Jedi Padawan had recently become obsessed with the space stations the Jedi Order used to employ in times of war, and the former Jedi Temple was a paradigm for the convergence of traditions and technological innovations. It was a perfect representation of how the Jedi Order needed to evolve. By visiting the Jedi Praexum, Ao hoped to uncover information about the lost sanctuary. It had supposedly been active at the end of the Hundred Years Darkness, but since, it had vanished from the annals of history without leaving a trace. The first step on Ao's quest was to consult the recently recovered holocron of a former Jedi Grandmaster active during the Great Galactic War.

Access to the receptacle of knowledge was not only allowed, but encouraged by Jedi leadership. They expected Padawan to exploit all of the limited resources the Jedi possessed in order to further their training. Now, if only someone familiar with the temple had been there to facilitate her navigation of its corridors: Ao was not renowned for her sense of orientation and finding her way in enclosed spaces could prove particularly difficult. Her formative years had been spent living in absolute communion with nature on the Neti's homeworld, guided by the stars if the need for direction ever presented itself.

For the third time, Ao had managed to make her way back to the main building's entrance hall. The facilities' circular architecture, symmetric chamber placement and uniform decor made it especially unforgiving. "Right, then left, then right again, they said. Back where I started, I am," she gasped exasperatedly.

Things hadn't been going particularly well lately for Vesper. She'd become somewhat disillusioned with the galaxy, watching the Sith and the Mandalorians simply take what they thought themselves owed without much of anyone being brave enough to stand in their way.

Of course she knew it was a bit hypocritcal for her to think that, it wasn't like she was going out there and fighting them back. But what was she really supposed to do? One person couldn't really make a difference, not when the stakes were so high and the scale so vastly uneven.

The Order had waned, people leaving and dying without someone there next in line to replace them. Vesper herself had shirked or ignored any duties she may have had as a Jedi and spent the last month or so doing not much but dicking around the galaxy in places where she felt safe. Mostly around nightlife and friends, though her conscience kept nagging at her that she was wasting her time and talent. Her conscience won, eventually.

Vesper remembered hearing about a holocron from an old Jedi Master named Wyck somewhere on Ifrane. She wasn't sure if it was her own memory that actually drummed up that fact from the haze of if it was the force telling her to get her ass back on track, either way it wasn't long before Ifrane was where Vesper found herself.

The Jedi Praexum was a nondescript but still serene place, Vesper appreciating any chance to be outside and breathe fresh air. She never had much of that growing up on Nar Shaddaa. It was nice.

Vesper entered the enclave and was immediately met with quite the strange image: a small green girl that seemed to be muttering to herself. Raising an eyebrow, Vesper approached the little green one - it was almost comical their difference in height, Ao being not even half as tall as Vesper - with a wave and a smile.

Hey there, you look a little lost. Can I help?

The young Jedi was so deep in thought that she had not sense the human approaching. She had been totally focused on finding her trying to orient herself through the maze that constituted the Jedi Praexum. Startled, Ao emitted a high-pitched squeak. She then immediately proceeded to drop the pouch she had been carrying on the temple's floor resulting in a cacophony as metallic trinkets collided against one another.

Taking in the resplendent physical appearance of her interlocutor —a lanky fair-skinned blonde woman—and the humiliating position she now found herself in, the small Jedi blushed feeling a little self-conscious. Briefly, a radiant streak of red eclipsed the greenish tone of her cheeks, much like twinkly lights on Yule Day. "A little lost? I am, yes," she admitted kneeling to collect her possession.

It was unusual for members of the Jedi Order to carry around so many objects. Most of them were content with their robes and customary lightsaber. The Council, or what was left of it, openly discouraged material attachments; they led to greed and greed paved the way to the dark side. Despite the respect Ao owed her masters and the reverence with which she generally abided their instructions, that particular commandment had never sat well with her. The fabulous historical treasures she had collected during her training on Ellora and subsequent travel to Tython were deprived of inherent materialistic value, but they constituted some of the last surviving mementoes of a more civilized age and the reminders of the Jedi Order's past glory.

Once the initial shock had passed, Ao was glad to have finally found someone willing to assist her in her endeavor. She had dreaded the loneliness that had accompanied her trip to Ifrane. She had never exactly been a popular girl, for even amongst Jedi, her kin were considered an oddity, but she liked the presence of others. "Know of the holocron supposedly guarded within this temple, do you?" she asked directly, seeing no point in delaying the matter. "Seek its advice, I must." It seemed like she would finally be able to reach her destination at last.

"Show me the way, will you? If too much trouble, it is not." Without giving her fellow Jedi Padawan adequate time to respond, Ao grabbed her by the hand, much like a small child would their mother, and pressed her forward. The green-skinned Padawan had never been one to respect the personal space of others. That concept was entirely too lien to the Neti who had raised her, and she had never acquired that proclivity. "Dreadful, my sense of direction is. Ao is my name. Yours?" she added thinking it was about time that she introduced herself.

Teran was feeling completely unprepared for... everything. A Jedi Knight had practically fallen in his family's lap, said "you're a wizard, Teran," and then gotten killed. It had been up to Teran to put together the pieces of the puzzle about this "Force" and find his way to the temple, or base, or whatever it was that he'd been told about. After a very length time convincing a myriad of security members that he wasn't a Sith spy, he'd finally been permitted to work his way through Alliance space.

Great, so that was out of the way, but now he was wandering through a massive temple - and had been for about 25 minutes - looking for "the library." Apparently that was where he could learn more about the Force, and take his first steps toward becoming a Jedi. But unfortunately ancient temples weren't signed well for tourists, so while Teran enjoyed looking at the architecture, he'd quickly realized his attempts at actually finding what he was looking for weren't going to go well.

Then he saw people! Oh, thank the Force for people! His pace quickened as he tried to catch up to them while they walked away, but if he lost them now, he thought his odds of ever finding what he was looking for would dwindle to nil.

Hey there! Uh... sorry for interrupting, but do either of you happen to know where I can find the library? he asked, glancing behind him and looking exactly as confused as he actually was. He turned back toward them, and his eyes flicked over the two of them. The woman was as tall as he was and... wow, she was really pretty, too. She looked oddly out of place in a cryptic temple like this. Not unlike who he might have found in the Upper City of Taris.

The other companion was quite different. Very short, and a species Teran didn't recognize. He'd seen many, many aliens come through the Lower City, but this wasn't a species he recognized. She seemed nice enough, even if she... had some weird grammar habits. An accent maybe? Probably.

He was far from any point where the Force was going to be giving him any help, and he didn't even realize the two in front of him were actually Padawans. He just knew he was lost both physically and metaphorically. He'd been shoved into the deep end of a war that was over his head, and no training in the Force. He didn't even have a glowstick of destiny yet! @Aberforth @Logan

The force seemed to be looking out for her, it seemed. Vesper had been fully prepared to traverse the annals of the temple alone. In the back of her head she was actually kind of worried to do so; not because it was dangerous, but because she was unsure if she would be able to commune with Wyck's holocron without help. Vesper had never, ever done anything like that before in her life, and she sort of didn't really what to expect with it.

Yeah, sure, I'll help you find it. Vesper said flashing a smile. The sudden feeling of Ao's hand in hers took her off guard for a moment, but Vesper did her best not to miss a beat. She didn't want to give the small green girl any reason not to trust her, and just from first impressions Ao seemed very.. prone to fright. Like a mouse or something. Nice to meet you Ao, my name is Vesper.

It was then that seemingly from nowhere, a man who looked just as lost as Ao though he seemed to be looking for a library. They really need to put a map at the front of this place, Vesper said with a laugh, waving at Teran so that he knew he was welcome to join the little group that had started to form. We're actually looking for Wyck's holocron, if it's not in the library there's probably a book in there that'll tell us where it is. She said, shrugging her shoulders and making that face you make when you're just throwing ideas out there. I'm Vesper by the way, and this is Ao.

Looking around for a moment, Vesper decided that their best bet was to head down the long hallway to the right. She had no idea if that was the correct way to go or why she felt drawn towards that direction but Vesper learned a long time ago to just trust her instincts more often than not. Heading down the hallway, Vesper passed a couple other pathways they could have taken that branched off in both directions. Didn't feel right. Taking a left and then two rights, the group would suddenly find themselves staring at the library.

Looking at both Ao and Teran, Vesper couldn't help but smile again. Well guys, looks like we found it. After you, She said, motioning for Ao and Teran to go in. Vesper didn't even really know what they were looking for, so she figured she'd let the little one look around first.
