DESCRIPTION
The Indelible-class star destroyer is a heavy capital ship manufactured by Rothana Heavy Engineering, a semi-independent subsidiary of Kuat Drive Yards. One of the more prominent examples of the new generation of super-heavy warships which have begun to emerge as the Galaxy spirals toward ever greater levels of instability, it is marketed by Rothana as "the last word in aerospace supremacy," and has found customers in the form of a number of wealthy system and sector navies, plus a handful of large corporate clients.

The Indelible is an imposing piece of hardware, retaining a number of design cues from the old Imperial-era SDs, but with enough original lines to be called something new. 1,210 meters in length, it is equipped with a diverse arsenal of turbolasers, ion cannons, point-defense light lasers, torpedo launchers and tractor beams. The ship can carry up to 36 starfighters or light starbombers, plus up to 8 shuttles. It has an optimum crew of 9,500, plus 7,500 passengers, 8,000 tons of cargo and consumables sufficient for up to 1 years in space.

The Indelible-class star destroyer, despite its size and heavy armament, harks back less to the space-going juggernauts of the Galactic Empire, and more to the large defense ships of the late Republic era. The type is designed to be imposing, and doonium-clad murder in any kind of 1-on-1 fight, but it does have a number of drawbacks. Chiefly, it is only equipped with a class 4 hyperdrive, limiting its interstellar "legs" to some degree. It is also slower than many ships of its type at 40 MGLT; even old Imperial-class SDs are faster at 60 MGLT. There are other things as well; a lack of many redundant backups, for one. Combined, these factors serve to limit the Indelible to being primarily a system or sector-level threat, rather than a true pan-Galactic warship like the star destroyers of old.

These limitations do serve a purpose, however; by incorporating less capable systems, not to mention a higher degree of automation and generally more robust parts, Rothana has made the Indelible much more accessible than previous star destroyers to many governments. The reduced strategic capability of these ships also serves to make them much less disruptive to the Galaxy's network of treaties and alliances.

LEGALITY
Restricted. Indelible-class star destroyers are classified as capital ships under Galactic law, and possess heavy weapons. As such, civilian owners will require extra licensing to operate one legally, and will receive increased scrutiny by authorities. Even then, they are ridiculously expensive to operate; only a relatively large faction or decently well-off planetary government would be able to afford it without swiftly bankrupting themselves. An individual would stand no chance.

INTENT
To create a "modernized" rendition of the old star destroyer concept.

RESTRICTIONS
Indelible-class star destroyers are large capital ships with heavy weapons, and capital ships cannot be owned or operated by individual characters. They may be acquired as a faction asset with staff oversight.
