I have been throwing this idea around in my head for quite some time, but I want to get the communities opinion, (and more importantly the role play overseers opinion).

As I see it, there is little or no real excuse for us to be role playing explorers, or charting out planets in the unknown reaches of space. (Because it is a suicidal task, without proper information, you could end up hyperspacing right through a star, or get lost in space.)

But do you think it would be acceptable for a character to accidentally end up in a canon, but at the same time; uncharted system?

Of course no name would be given to the planet, although oocly we'd know what planet said character was on and all, but after returning from that system there would be no official records of the system's location, as the ship that would be apart of this rp would have 'accidentally' ended up in this system, and therefore wouldn't know the proper location.

I thought it might introduce some interesting rp, but I would like to get some of the community's ideas.

I think this is an awesome idea, Dsar. And you'd know the name of the planet if you talked to the species there, of course then again, they wouldn't know basic and you'd have to have a force adept communicate with them, like Revan did with the Rakata.

If this gets approved by an admin, let me know and I'm going to make an explorer character with you, and we'll make a crew or something and set off.

Since technology would be more advanced, they would probably be able to at least see where a planet would be and then try to fly to it.

You would also be able to see the objects in space so you would have an idea of what obstacles would be a problem in hyperspace.

And if it is approved, I'll create the Alsakan explorers guild so that you guys can have sponsoring and can be more effective with exploring.

Schweet! Most of my characters are independent anyway, so supporting the Alsakans by exploring for them won't be a problem.

The idea of exploration rp has always interested me, finding a system exploring the planets that inhabit it, and collecting data about flora and fauna...

To be honest I'd like to hear what bac's thoughts are on this, since he oversees the main rp.

I wonder if the Republic will also try to do it as well? Since all the routes are unexplored, one side could be totally in the dark about the territorial possessions of the other and if they do meet, the results could certainly be interesting. But if the Republic does start doing it, we'll support you more so stay with us!

Yeah, this won't be allowed imo because it could bring up a can of worms, if this happens to you how can we turn around and tell Niner he can't do the same thing with the mandalore sector? Or try and find various other canon worlds?

Because he's Niner and we roll like that?

Or because Mandalore is in the Outer Rim?

And this would be going into the mid rim as the core is pretty much explored, Onderon has been discovered so not that big of a jump from mid to outer rim.

Would leave a very flimsy excuse.

No he doesn't. Ols, Mulluns, Matt, Francis, and myself oversee the RP. Bac oversees the staff.

And I don't see how you could accidentally end up on an uncharted planet, it doesn't make sense. I also don't like the idea as they'll just end up on planet after planet, which is incredibly unrealistic.

As it is the staff is discussing how exploration is going to work. It won't be plausible for any independent to just happen onto a planet and explore it.

So I will lock this for now, a decision on how exploration will go forward will happen soon.
