On The Trail

His brown eyes skimmed across the text on his datapad, The Lugar-Tor Chemical Explosion, two hundred and forty five dead and a cleanup process that went up over night. This corporation, they sure stepped in quick, but I suppose someone has to be a hero.. He winced at the trailing words, Hero, something he had failed to be for this planet. The faces of his friends came flashing back into his mind, they were dead now, yet here he stood--a forgotten Drast, a ghost of a former life.

Tucking the datapad into a pouch he glanced over towards the glowing neon lights of the club. Placing a stolen mandalorian helmet upon his head, he got into character, the former vigilante's chest place was fastened around his upper torso, serving as a supposed trophy of the hunter, the man to kill the Shadow--if only they knew the truth.

His black cape swept to the side as he stepped into the crowded club, mixed with aliens from all over the galaxy. He seemed out of place, and a few gave him a quick worried and hushed glance--was the bounty hunter after them?

"Echutta...are you trying to scare away my customers? How many times do I have to tell you you can't come in here wearing that?" The Nikito behind the bar barked with a groan as the fake Mandalorian approached the bar.

"The girl," he would respond through his helmet's communicator, as his palm flashed a holo projection of the smugggler, "Have you seen her?" Kal responded in a cold fashion.

"What she stand you up on a date?" The Nikito grinned, though that faded as the masked hunter didn't respond, "Not even a hello....look, she may have come in here, you know Gast..a lot of people come in here, but if you're asking, no, there hasn't been a redhead asking for the former Huttball star, Kal Gast...Hey where are you going?"

"I'm going to take a look around," he responded in a dry tone as he pushed his way into the crowd, he knew a smuggler couldn't resist hiding for too long, they would eventually need a drink and credits. Unfortunately for her, these drinks would be her last.

Planet: Nar Shaddaa
Location: Jim’s Cantina
Time: 1 Hour Pre-Bounty Post, 4 Hours post-explosion.

The red-haired woman leaned back in the booth, sipping on Alderaanian Ale, a personal favorite. As a frequent guest of the establishment, the manager kept a stash for the smuggler. A smaller bar on the outskirts of the main Nar Shaddaa nightlife, the human appreciated the quieter hole in the wall locations. She was always treated well, and they held an exclusive corner for her. Ryx rested under the table with a dish of water and some meat stuck to the bone which he was chewing loudly on.

Flipping through the datapad, she received confirmation that funds were transferred to the appropriate accounts. 'Thirty thousand credits seemed steep for a delivery.' Kass dismissed the thought for a moment as they explained that it was sensitive chemicals. It wasn’t uncommon in her business to be overpaid for her services to skirt the normal supply routes. Tossing the datapad to the side after verifying the transfers, she leaned back and took another sip of the Ale when an emergency broadcast posted on various holonet devices in the Cantina.

“Breaking news! A massive explosion erupted at the Lugar-Tor Processing Corporation’s Nar Shaddaa plant. At this time, it is unclear if this was an act of terrorism or random accident within the processing plant. Officials stated that it is unknown the number causality affected by the explosion. Corporate assets have begun a quarantine of the area and clean-up is in process.” The holonet cut between the alien report and footage of the fires from the aftermath. The report continued but Kass zoned off for a moment.

‘Was that me. It was the location that I delivered the package.’ Unzipping a part of her outfit, she revealed a tuck-away hood. ‘If it was me, then they will be looking for me. Best to hide my looks as much as possible.’ She pulled her loose hair into a sloppy ponytail. She took one last drink from the Ale before sliding from the booth. Tossing a few credits to the barkeep, she pulled the hood over her head and left the bar. Out of habit, she checked the sheathed dagger that hung from her belt.

Location: The Dancing Womp Rat
Time: Current, 5 Hours post-explosion.

Being familiar with the area and the ecumenopolis, she traveled from well-known spots to gather information on the attack. If anything was prevalent was the flow of information through the underworld of Nar Shaddaa, the only concern was how accurate it was. Some time passed, she found herself at the Dancing Womp Rat. Ensuring the hood of her outfit was still doing its job of hiding her identity, she pulled it further over her head. Scanning the room, she identified where the bar was. She moved in that direction before stopping a moment as she saw her image being displayed in holoform for the bartender. “Son of Kriff” She muttered to herself. She pushed back and folded into the crowd of aliens. Finding an open table, she ducked down into the booth but kept an eye on the Bounty Hunter. Ryx sensed the distress from the human and moved into a defensive position in front of her. The grey wolf stuck out in the club but there wasn’t much Kass could do about it. She would just have to hope the person was bad at there job.

The black T-shaped Visor swept through the crowd, the cloak that was attached to his armor swaying to the side as he pushed a Zabarak and a Rodian to the side. The cretins would curse and turn to face the hunter. "Put your hands on me?" The high pitch squeal of the Rodian barked through the crowd, causing a few patrons to turn towards the scene. "I'll have you know, I have a deathmark in two systems."

The bounty hunter's expression was hidden beneath his helmet, through the corner of his eye he could see a mysterious woman peering towards him. "You're not my target," he would respond through his helmet's comms in a cold dry fashion. The Rodian laughed as his long stick like fingers tapped against the table. A small shimmer could be seen underneath the table.

With a flick of his wrist, he would slide a blaster from his own holster, blasting a smoldering hole square into the chest of the green alien. A few patrons quickly got up from the area and ran towards the exit while the bartender could be heard cursing and yelling from behind the bar, he had to make this quick. That was when he spotted the wolf and the woman. Quickly holstering his blaster and slinging his R5R blaster rifle from his back and aiming it towards the woman, "You're small for a terrorist."

Kass pushed the hood as far over her head as possible but her auburn and scarlet colored locks still escaped the sides. She missed her armor at this point as she was only in her comfortable black leather outfit. The sheathed vibrodagger hung freely from the belt that secured around her slim waist. Pushing to the force and hoped it would answer the call, she attempted to gain some understanding of the scene but there was no answer. Her connection to the force was strong but her training was weak. She knew a few things but what she was asking wasn’t one.

Ryx paced in front of the woman that was tucked in the booth attempting to hide. He sensed an uneasiness from his master which prompted him to move more into a defense position. A small growled left the beast mouth as the blaster rifle erupted not far away. As the man approached raised his weapon, the beast ears pulled back while exposing its teeth and snarling. Ryx shifted his weight to the rear legs while dipping into a slight crouched position, tail down and tensed. The beast still stood to about waist height.

The man raised his woman and pointed it at the redheaded woman. The dire wolf awaited the command from the master to pounce on the target. The near-black eyes grew darker as the pupils dilated. “You’re small for a terrorist.” The man stated. But Kassanda sat and didn’t make a move as she didn’t want to provoke the man as the Rodian had done.

“Wrong on both accounts, my friend. I’m going to pull back my hood and reach for my datapad. May I do that? Or will you shoot me? I promise you that the dagger hung on my belt is my only weapon.” She held brief concern but calmed herself. She pulled on her agent training and the skills she had picked up. Maybe a sense of calm came that she knew he could have killed her already too if he wanted and he held back for a reason. “I believe more is afoot than we think. I was paid to deliver a package that both parties were aware of. The payment was made by both parties. Why the receiving end would pay to have their plant attacked is beyond me, but this was a setup and now they have sent you to clean up the loose end.” She peered in his directions. Her turquoise eyes attempted to pierce the T-shaped visor but were unable to read the bounty hunter. “I do have proof. It’s in my datapad.”

The bounty hunter smirked beneath his helmet, as he kept his blaster pointed towards the mysterious red head, "Proof?" He would chuckle, "not the most trustworthy source kid, slicers run up and down this planet--a doctored file would be elementary." Tarrius' eyes narrowed as he focused on the woman, she was nervous yet did her best to calm herself--possible training or she's been in this position before. Regardless, she's hiding more than she's leading on. The Bounty hunter would lower his weapon as he noticed the crowd around the entrance.

One only needed to see the sign of a few fingers pointing in his direction to know that it was the local Mandalorian authorities. "Stand up and follow me," he would state as he lowered the volume inside of his helmet. Slinging the rifle behind his back, he would quickly throw his cloak over his chest before popping his helmet off to reveal the rugged and familiar face of the once infamous huttball player.

He would take her arm, wrapping it around his own waist as he lead her towards the entrance, doing his best to keep his head low. "Don't try anything," he would whisper into her ear, moving in close to her neck as they made their way into a crowd leaving the club. "Mmm...I'd like that," he would say against her neck, as they made their way past the guards.

"Stop, turn around and show me your face."

Tarrius would glance back as he pulled the girl closer to his side, his shoulders shrugging slightly as he gave a toothy half grin, "You going to stop me after I scored this?"

The two guards would look towards each other, unsure of what to do, "Uh..."

"Put it on my tab will you, the name's Gast...Kal Gast." He would flick a two handed salute towards the men before taking the girl away from the club and towards a side alley way. Taking a quick glance before pulling a blaster from his side and holding it towards the woman's gut.

"Tell me, why would the Zendrelli Company pay you to blow up a facility they were in the closing stages of purchasing? Who do you work for?"

The woman pushed her hood back and stared at the bounty hunter. He dismissed her offer to prove her innocence. “It tru..” But before she could finish her second pled. He was demanding that she stand and follow. She climbed from the booth and obeyed his commands. She paused a moment as she recognized the man as he removed his helmet but for the life of her, she couldn’t place it.

“Where do I kno..” Again, she was interrupted as he grabbed her arm and wrapped it around his waist. This sent Ryx into a rage, the low growl converted to loud barking. The beast angerly waited for the command to pounce on the man. Kass rolled her wrist and flicked her fingers in a few discreet motions. The dire wolf calmed and took up position on the other side of the bounty hunter. Kass followed the man's orders and by proxy, the beast did too.

She understood that she needed his help as much as he needed hers, whether he realized it or not. “I won’t, but if you cross the line, Ryx will end you, so watch your hands.” A low whispered response to the man. He could feel her jaw move which he could only assume was a smile. They walked toward the entrance, she swayed slightly from side to side, leaning her weight into him as if she was inebriated and he had picked her up. If he had not known that she was sober, he would have been fooled by the performance.

The guard attempted to stop them. But her new companion was handling them. She continued to play into the role. “Weren’t you going to show me a good time.” She ran a finger across his cheek. “So strong.” She slurred the words.

As they entered the alley, she felt the blaster pushed against her gut but in the distraction from guards and the need to make a quick exit from the bar. The woman was able to lose her dagger and slip it through a less covered part of the armor. The tip of the dagger pushed against a critical section of his torse. He knew if the dagger entered into that section it would almost certainly be deadly, almost as bad as a blast to the gut that she would be facing. “I work for myself. I was paid by both parties to deliver the package. Clients pay me extra because of my discretion. I don’t investigate the package I deliver for clients.” She slipped a datapad from a pouch with her free hand. She punched a few buttons and flipped it around. He was able to see various bank transfers from both corporations. "These were sliced. Thirty Thousand credits for the delivery. So shall we put down our weapons?"
