Imperial/Rebel Combat Control type character???

Hello. I was sitting here reading up on some more of the material regarding the site and its factions so to make a better, more educated decision about creating a character. Along the way, I stumbled into a few questions that I thought I should probably reach out to the site and ask about. I know it's late. I'm not expecting much at this time, but any answers in general would be appreciated.

My first question was. Well. Can I have more than one character?

My second question however, was a little harder to figure out how to ask.

In the USAF, there's a special operations job called a combat controller. They're essentially air traffic controllers, forward observers, and then some all in one package. I train with some of these guys where I'm at while learning to be air traffic control for the air force.
My question is as follows:
Would there be a possible position like that that I could take on in the Imperium or Rebellion?

I've noticed so far that this roleplay site is pretty supportive of user-created content and ideas. I've also not seen anything that would lead me to believe that that sort of position has been created before here.

Any opinions about the matter would be well appreciated.

The max number of characters you can have is 6, but whether or not you make that many is up to you. As for the character idea (which is a fantastic one, btw), I see no problem with it. However, I am far from knowing every little detail here, so I may be wrong on that. Good luck, and welcome to the site!
