DESCRIPTION
When someone thinks of IG units they typically think about bounty hunting droids or magna guards. But the IG-227 made by the same manufacturers of the iconic Vulture droid starfighter is well known to this day across the galaxy for the parts it played in the Clone Wars. Most notably this was under the control of the InterGalactic Banking Clan who used them to help collect on payments to the point of even being used to invade worlds and then later by other groups in the Confederacy for Independent Systems.

The IG-227 possesses the armament that has earned it the name 'Hailfire' with two racks of long range missiles that have a purplish contrail when fired. These were the bane of LAAT/I gunships and AT-TE walkers at the time which could be taken out by a single missile. Beneath the main body of the droid tank is a pair of heavy auto-blasters that can damage light vehicles and take out infantry with ease. This keeps from forcing the Hailfire droid to rely on the long range missiles that are less pragmatic at closer targets. The missiles are most effective against large and slow moving targets which the Hailfire droid can lock onto. Droid armies can link optical sights and mark targets allowing the long range tracking of the droid to fire its missiles at an enemy without having line of sight. The missile racks on an IG-227 can be replaced with other weapon systems like a set of ion cannons or other non-lethal downgraded weaponry. The droids have been used by the IGBC for their debt collections in the past and they prefer to have their patrons pay them rather than be blown up.

The two large hoop like wheels of the IG-227 allow the droid tank to achieve high acceleration despite its limited max speed. Its maneuverability makes the droid exceptional at crossing the battle field to get an ideal possession regardless of the terrain. The body and wheels of the Hailfire tank droid can move over infantry and squash them without issue. Usually this was enough to allow a spent droid to return to base and get a new compliment of missiles before heading back out into combat.

Unlike smarter droids that can operate and process issues independently, the droid brain house in an IG-227 is not anything exceptional. It's a reliable combat unit however sometimes it won't prioritize the most optimal target with distant targets being forgotten in favor of closer ones. This was noted in early combats of the Clone Wars but droid commanders are able to issue commands during battle remotely that reestablished target priorities.

As a tank, the Hailfire possesses a fair amount of armor. Small arms like blaster are ineffective against the droid but heavy artillary and ordnance can take out an IG-227 with a single direct hit. The Hailfire droid most often found itself being transported to new theaters of war onboard the CIS Hardcell armed transports and are no more expensive to produce than a standard TIE fighter today.

While rarely seen today, there are some organizations that still utilize the IG-227 Hailfire droid tank. They can be found in use by private militaries and operating on the fringes of civilized space. These droids are weapons of war and many are left in pieces across countless battlefields from years past. These are never sold individually but instead purchased in large quantities though manufacturing these battle droids has long since stopped. While they are cheap to manufacture, they are bought in quantities and with considerable markup given the rarity of such orders.

LEGALITY
Illegal. Battle droids such as the IG-227 are highly restricted under interstellar law, with personal ownership being banned. Many beings get around this restriction by replacing weapons or using as bodyguards, or at least claiming to have done so. Laws regarding the use of battle droids or tanks are heavily scrutinized.

INTENT
Earned some of these in at thread awhile back and wanted to have a write up for them. Wanted to bring something from canon also to the site.

RESTRICTIONS
Except as a chassis for a droid character, ownership of IG-227 by individual player characters is not possible. Hailfire droid tanks may be acquired by factions. Characters based on IG-227s may be created, but will be subject to increased scrutiny by members of staff.

Please take some time to clean up the spelling and grammar in this submission. Also, there's no way these would be as cheap as TIE fighters in the present day.

I think I've cleaned it up a bit. Sorry about that. Let me know if I missed anything.

I mean that they were as cheap to manufacture as TIE fighters but of course they would be more expensive and hard to find this day and age. I put in a blurb about that now.
