The Imperial Armed Forces (IAF), consisting of the Imperial Army Stormtrooper Corps (STC), the Imperial Navy, and the varied localized Imperial garrisons, is the military extension of the New Sith Imperium. In totality, the Imperial Armed Forces account for roughly thirty percent of the Imperium’s total population. Along with the New Sith Order, the Imperial Armed Forces represent both the Empire and the Empress. On worlds within Imperial territory, they are a beacon of the strength, order, and persistence of the Empire. In those areas not beneath the might of the Empire, the Imperial Armed Forces represent an elite, monumental demonstration of power, an organization to be simultaneously feared and respected.

Composed of a diverse array of aliens hailing from all reaches of the Empire, the Imperial Armed Forces perform all tasks necessary to the maintenance and expansion of the Empire. Members of the IAF serve in roles ranging from planetary peacekeepers to shock troops sent to quell riotous populations and terminate the insidious spread of terrorists before their twisted ideals are allowed to fester into a more murderous plague on the galaxy.

The brave men, women, and beings of the Imperial Armed Forces are your friends, your brothers, your sisters.

The Imperial garrisons represent a significant bulk of the entire Imperial Armed Forces.

They consist of the iconic grey uniformed, blast visor and helmet equipped troops stationed on their homeworlds to serve as the local military garrison. Garrison troops are expected to police and guard their worlds of origin, and are provided with little in the way of advanced training and equipment.

They are rarely seen using vehicles more advanced than basic AT-ST/AR walkers and other light suppression speedercraft. Equipped with small arms and light anti-tank weaponry and clad in ballistic breastplates and armorweave fatigues, the garrisons are little more than glorified security to defend against the most manageable of potential threats.

Despite being well-known as the least capable of the Imperial Armed Forces branches, both the Imperial Navy and Imperial Stormtrooper Corps supplement their recruitment by drawing from the very best soldiers and pilots stationed as garrison soldiers across the broad swath of the Imperium.

As the primary driving force of the New Sith Imperium, the Imperial Navy is without a doubt the most powerful and advanced fleet ever assembled.

Comprised of the best and brightest from across Imperial Space, the men, women, and beings of the Naval Officer Corps receive their training at the Gilad Pallaeon Naval Academy, located on the Imperial throneworld of Anaxes. Over the course of four rigorous years, the cadets are shaped and molded into the types of pilots and line officers the Imperium needs to secure its borders against foreign threats.

Cadets are tested and trained to generate the most strategically capable minds in the galaxy. Through a combination of simulations and live-fire exercises, cadets are repeatedly stressed so that once they are assigned their first duty posting they have the confidence and mental acuity to do their duty, flying small fighters, bombers, and scout fighters into combat, with aplomb.

The time and money dedicated to the training of the fleet’s pilots and line officers is rivaled only by the effort put into maintaining the ships that these brave men, women, and beings command on the front lines. The Imperium maintains a series of shipyards that are always hard at work producing state-of-the-art ships to help our heroes safely defend our dominion from the threats arrayed against us from all sides. These sailors’ duties vary from experience, but most pilots fly in or lead squadrons while line officers command ships of the line.

The Imperial Navy is broken up into several fleets, each under the command of a brilliant commodore and ready at a moment’s notice to answer the call to battle. Whether that call emanates from within or without our sovereign borders, the fleet is prepared. In addition to these roving fleets, each major system within the Imperium* has a naval presence of some kind. The size of these defensive forces depend largely on the strategic and economic importance of the system, as well as its proximity to the borders of Imperial Space. A typical Stationary Defense Force consists of a Star Destroyer and a handful of escort frigates, though “Fortress Worlds”—star systems chosen by Imperial High Command for strategic staging and defense purposes—boast much larger contingents of ships.

The Imperial Navy can be summed up adequately with two words: strength and speed. As the sole remaining galactic superpower, the New Sith Imperium has to be able to project its power across an incredibly large swath of territory. Not only must it project its power, though, it must also be ready to enforce its sovereignty and react to dozens of crises, both major and minor, at any given time. Thanks to the men, women, and beings of the Imperial Navy—The Heroes of The Imperium—trillions of Imperial citizens can sleep easy at night, knowing that they are being protected by the ever-watchful eyes and sensors of their pilots and line officers.

[aname="anchor2"]The Imperial Army Stormtrooper Corps[/aname]
[jumpto="index"]I N D E X[/jumpto]

The Imperial Army Stormtrooper Corps is the secondary driving force of the Imperium, operating alongside the organized Imperial Naval and Imperial Intelligence to control, subjugate, and maintain order throughout the entirety of Imperium territory. The Imperial Army is under direct control of the Supreme Commander, who is appointed by the Dark Lord of the Sith. The Sith Warmaster works to control and command the Sith Forces alongside the Supreme Commander.

The Imperial Army was first formed centuries ago under the Galactic Emperor Palpatine out of what was the Grand Army of the Old Republic, which was comprised primarily of clones of Jango Fett. Under Palpatine, the Imperial Army grew to include more than just clones, eventually culminating in being largely consisting of conscripted humans. Under the Fel Empire and subsequent Krayt Empire, the Stormtrooper Corps was disbanded, merging with the Imperial Army. However, elite Stormtrooper units such as the 501st still remained.

Upon the Sith takeover and the defeat of the Galactic Alliance, the Stormtrooper Corps was merged with the former infantry units of the former Galactic Alliance Untrained conscripts were replaced with highly trained, exceedingly efficient Stormtroopers, and the Imperial Army quickly rose to be the most feared fighting force in existence following the war.

Continued recruitment is twofold: the top percentile of garrison soldiers are folded into the Corps, becoming Stormtroopers, while other potential candidates are recruited more directly at Imperial Armed Forces recruitment centers located throughout Imperial Space. The Stormtrooper Corps recruits beings of all types into its ranks, so long as they are mentally and physically capable of supporting the great might of the New Sith Imperium.

Operating in many different aspects of life, the Imperial Army works to maintain order in the New Sith Imperium however it is needed: Be it subjugation, reparation, or annihilation.

[jumpto="index"]I N D E X[/jumpto]

Before admission into the Imperial Army, individuals must pass multiple physical and mental tests in order to determine both their viability as a Stormtrooper and thee specialization that they would best fit within. Once admission begins, Stormtrooper initiates undergo four years of intensive training programs, combat simulations, and the occasional quelling of small uprisings.

All corpsmen receive educational skills, such as in the basics, weapons handling, marksmanship, hand-to-hand combat, and other essentials to more adamantly engrave in them perfection as a soldier. They are also taught and trained in special tactics, including guerrilla warfare, covert infiltration and espionage, intelligence recon, surgical strikes, and heavy assault blitz maneuvers. In addition to a standard military training regimen, Stormtroopers are trained for specialized warfare, ensuring that the corpsmen of the Imperial Army will always be the elite of the Imperium and the galaxy at large.

All corpsmen receive training in zero gravity environments in order to prepare them to board enemy vessels or efficiently repel invaders on their own. On every Imperial vessel engaged in a space battle, Stormtroopers are stationed in modified Centurion armor suits in order to engage the enemy in boarding or repelling should the situation arise. The modified Centurion suits are perfected for zero gravity environments.

[jumpto="index"]I N D E X[/jumpto]

Empress
As the head of the New Sith Imperium, the Empress is a constant and all-seeing force within the military. While she does not often engage in matters of the military, she nonetheless has complete and unrivaled authority. An order from the Empress supersedes any order given, even orders from the Dark Lord and Grand General. However, much like the Dark Lord, the Empress rarely utilizes her authority unless the situation arises where it is absolutely necessary.

Dark Lord
As the embodiment of the the New Sith Imperium itself, the Dark Lord has direct personal control over the Imperial Army and can dictate their actions according to his will. In this way, the Imperial Army is very much like a private army, able to disembark and take action without the consent or needed authority of any other authoritative figure within the Imperial Army, including even the Warmaster himself. However, the Dark Lord rarely exercises this authority unless the situation is necessary.

Supreme Commander
The head of High Command holds the rank of Supreme Commander. The Supreme Commander is handpicked by the Dark Lord himself, and is independent of the authority of other figures within The New Sith Imperium, answering only to the Dark Lord and the Empress. Commanding the Imperial Army and the Imperal Navy both, the Supreme Commander is the most powerful position a non-Force sensitive being may hold within the entirety of the New Sith Imperium; it is also the position where a non-Force sensitive is expected the most of.

Warmaster
The Warmaster is the ever vigilant Sith presence within the Imperial Army and Navy. Able to take command of almost any division or fleet at any time, or reassign command should he feel it be needed, the Warmaster is the highest rank achievable by a Sith within the Imperial Army and Navy. The Warmaster is also in charge of overseeing competence within the Imperial Army and Navy. He is Judge, Jury, and Executioner for those in High Command whom are deemed incompetent by himself and the Supreme Commander. Although able to lead independently of the Supreme Commander, the Warmaster does not normally command the military except in times of war, invasions, and exterminations.

Imperial Army General | Imperial Navy Admiral | Sith General
General is the initially received and only rank attainable for non-Force sensitives within the High Command structure, excepting that of Supreme Commander, and thus is the most junior. Generals are assigned to lead large divisions of forces and to command the battles of the Army from afar in the most efficient manner possible. Incompetent Generals are demoted or executed by the Sith Warmaster.

The highest military rank afforded to non-Force sensitives within the Imperial Navy is Admiral. Admirals command and oversee the vast fleets of the Imperium in most cases, and their authority ranges from coordinating massive planetary bombardments to guaranteeing that supply lines and logistics remain open and accessible. Admirals are expected to be efficient, knowledgeable, and completely dedicated members of the New Sith Imperium. Failure at such a high level of responsibility is not an option and should an Admiral somehow survive a disaster, it is almost guaranteed that they will forfeit both their position and their life.

Sith Generals are accomplished Sith Masters and Sith Lords who are handpicked by the Warmaster and recommended to the Supreme Commander for command over the Imperial Army. Able to lead nearly any division at any time, Sith General is considered to be both a highly respectable and exceedingly powerful and prestigious position for a Sith to hold. The Sith General holds a rank equivalent to Imperial General, but does not take command except in times of war, invasions, and exterminations.

Imperial Army Major | Imperial Navy Rear Admiral
Stormtrooper Majors, battle scarred veterans of countless missions, entrusted with the responsibility to organise and lead a Legion into battle. Stormtrooper Majors are frontline combatants, able to set an example for their subordinate officers and enlisted corpsmen whilst simultaneously directing Legion-level assets, such as orbital turbolaser strikes from orbiting Navy vessels, or other more exotic support vehicles.

Rear Admirals are those who have progressed beyond the control of a single capital vessel, and are often tasked with organizing and leading small fleets, battlegroups, or other collections of naval craft that require keen coordination and a deep understanding of fleet tactics. As with all command positions, morale and leadership flow downwards, and it is expected that Imperial Rear Admirals lead with conviction and skill, ensuring that their subordinates do the same.

Imperial Army Commander | Imperial Navy Captain | Master
Company Commander (or simply Commander. Stormtrooper Commander is also used ), a seasoned veteran who has seen numerous missions and is best able to direct his unit where it is needed, marshalling his platoons onto objectives with ruthless efficiency. AT-AT/a units are often put under the direct command of a Stormtrooper Commander, alongside artillery and other fire support assets, such as Navy fighter and bomber support elements.

The Imperial Navy Captain has a wealth of experience and a thorough understanding of various manners of tactics and stratagems. Although some extremely capable Navy Captains can be found leading starship squadrons—often out of a stubborn desire to stay within the cockpit—most are found commanding large naval elements or managing the plethora of affairs required to successfully run a capital-sized vessel.

The Sith Masters are the elite of the Order, and represent the few that have come to a true understanding of the Dark Side of the Force, bending it to their will. Dreaded as they are renowned, Sith Masters could be the most deadly of warriors and the most learned in Sith magic and sorcery, making them the masters of the Dark Side of the highest caliber, far surpassing the ferocity and prowess of the Sith Crusaders. The most exceptional of the Sith Masters may be elevated to the most coveted position of Sith Lord. It is also at the rank of Master that a Sith may challenge a Sith Lord for their title and position with a sense of validity and weight. Note that this is no longer used as an official rank: Sith of this level are generally referred to as Lord or Lady and then their name, though this may not technically be their rank.

Imperial Army Captain | Imperial Navy Lieutenant
Imperial Captains are among the most powerful and most vital part of the machine that makes up the Imperial Army. They are trained to command Stormtroopers from the frontline, to act as surrogate commander should an Imperial Major fall in battle, to take the front should superior training and firepower be deemed necessary, and to make the more difficult decisions of battle when actions of extreme prejudice are deemed necessary.

Navy Lieutenants are officers who have repeatedly demonstrated an aptitude towards leadership and are frequently found commanding starfighter squadrons, support craft elements, or larger, more involved sections aboard the Imperium’s massive capital ships. Promising lieutenants may also be positioned as executive officers for Navy Captains, beginning something of an apprenticeship relationship that will forge the next generation of capable naval command staff.

Imperial Army Sergeant | Imperial Navy Ensign | Crusader
Sergeants are considered to be the "Gods" of the Imperial Army. Many believe that it is the best rank in the chain of command to be. Troopers who have attained the rank of Sergeant often have more than one specialization, making them perfect leaders among smaller squads for hard hits in small areas. They have the authority to take command whenever and wherever it is needed, as well as no responsibility to remain in command of any large group of Stormtroopers for any longer than is necessary. Commanders of small squads, Sergeants are the head of the 'family' of a squad of Stormtroopers.

Ensigns are the first, most junior, commissioned rank throughout the entire Imperial Armed Forces. Referred to as Sir or Ma'am when not called by their rank by lower ranking subordinates, they are often tasked with leading small compliments of soldiers or pilots. Ensigns are also frequently found as crew members of larger ships of the line where they frequently command small sections staffed by enlisted personnel.

Sith Crusaders, or simply Sith, make up the bulk of the Sith Order's forces and represent the iron fist of the New Sith Imperium in military affairs and enforcement of imperial law. The few Acolytes able to master their training and progress to the degree that their masters deem them worthy now rightfully bear the mantle of “Sith.” As the primary enforcers of their Dark Lord's will, the Sith Crusaders are founds in all reaches of the galaxy, as they take on most of missions for the Order.

Imperial Army Corporal | Imperial Navy Petty Officer
Corporals are the backbone of the trained Imperial Army Stormtroopers. Although not officers within the Imperial Army, they hold a leadership billet and perform most of the small unit tactics and maneuvers that win the Corps' battles. It is at the rank of Corporal that soldiers are first allowed a taste of real authority within the Imperial Army.

The equivalent naval rank is Petty Officer. Petty Officers are the most junior of non-commissioned officers and, like crewmen, are certified to flight various types of small Imperial craft. They may also serve as Seconds-in-Command on smaller ships like Corvettes, expected to take command shoulder their superior fall in combat.

Imperial Army Private | Imperial Navy Crewman | Acolyte
Although often seen as fodder soldiers by the enemy, Privates are far from neophytes, having fully completed their Stormtrooper training. Imperial Privates are considered highly capable, highly efficient soldiers who perform any task given to them to their utmost. This rank simply represents the position of a standard, but nonetheless elite, soldier of the Imperial Army. Many times, Stormtroopers of this rank choose to be addressed as Stormtroopers so they are not underestimated by friendlies.

The equivalent Imperial naval rank is that of crewman, assigned to beings of all species and gender. After completing their basic naval training, crewmen are capable of flying a wide variety of Imperial vessels below the corvette classification. They pilot fighters, freighters, support shuttles, and attack craft, and are also occasionally trained in the basics of ground combat, depending on their eventual posting.

Sith Acolytes, also called Sith Initiates or if they are youthful, Sith Hopefuls, are the raw recruits that enter into the Sith Order for training in the ways of the Dark Side. While most possess no practical applicant knowledge of the Force, they are often regarded as mere Dark Jedi, and require the training of a Sith Crusader, or if they show unique promise, a Sith Lord, to teach them the aspects of the Dark Side of the Force and truly become a member of the Sith Order.[/ABOX3]

With the end of the war between the forces of the Galactic Alliance and New Sith Imperium, the necessity for a separation of an elite force and a massive, lightly trained fighting force of soldiers quickly diminished. Rather than dismiss the highly trained, it was decided that, slowly, the old general military of useless grunts would be removed in its entirety and replaced with highly trained, highly competent Stormtroopers. The Imperial Army is now entirely populated by Stormtroopers working to eliminate the threats of the New Sith Imperium wherever they may rise.

With the merge, specializations were created to give the soldiers more competencies on the field. Each specialization comes with specific weapons, modified versions of the Centurion armor, and specialized training that cannot be found anywhere else.
Below are the specialized classes of soldiers that comprise the bulk of [aname="index"]Imperial Army[/aname]:

Snowtroopers, also called Cold Assault Stormtroopers, are members of the Imperial Army specially trained for combat and warfare in harsh arctic conditions or extreme mountainous regions. Equipped with rugged, thermally insulated armor, tactical terrain boots, grappling hooks, ion flares, and an arsenal of other equipment, Snowtroopers are among the more common specialization and are dispatched upon ice and arctic worlds across the galaxy.

Their training gives them the advantage in cold and arctic conditions. They are trained with withstand and operate under conditions that would, under normal circumstances, severely limit the functionality of normal soldiers. Snowtroopers are at home among the heavy blizzards of frozen worlds and are easily able to utilize their HUDs to find and take down enemies caught in the deadly snowstorms with them. In glacial environments, the greatest danger to a criminal or enemy combatant is not be the claw of a tuskcat, but the blaster bolt of a Snowtrooper.

TIE Troopers, also called Stormtrooper Pilots, Spacetroopers and, historically speaking, TIE Pilots, are a division of the Imperial Army designed to pilot anything from starfighters to LAAT gunships. TIE Troopers are easily recognized by their black space suits, and are infamously known to undergo grueling physical and psychological conditioning for stellar combat. Fitted with enclosed suits with limited life support systems and a High Capacity Repeater, TIE Troopers are dispatched in many variant starfighters of the New Sith Imperium.

To a degree, many TIE fighter pilots are brainwashed by the Imperium for their duties. Having no family ties, a tendency to avoid emotional connections and the susceptibility to mental suggestion are all things considered to be good for a TIE fighter pilot candidate. With undying loyalty to the New Sith Imperium, the TIE pilots are among the hardest trained group in the Imperium, with more deaths to friendly fire from friendly star destroyers in space than to the enemy. The pay, however, is also the best in the entire military, ensign pilots pay rivaling even that of veteran Army commanders. With great risk comes great reward.

[jumpto="index"]I N D E X[/jumpto]

Scout Troopers, often known as Recon Stormtroopers, are a division of "complex infantry," namely, they engage in strategic combat too unorthodox for the general infantry of the Imperial Army. Trained to be specialists in reconnaissance, Scout Troopers are known galaxy-wide as infamous marksmen. Snipers fill the role of assassins, survivalists, and spies. Scout Troopers are often dispatched with standard Stormtroopers as defensive or offensive support as well.

They are often outfitted with Centurion armor that can be quickly modified for stealth in nearly any environment, as well as a High Capacity Repeater, a IV-1 vibroblade, and a modified, scoped Rogue Arms DE7 rifle. Scout troopers are the silent killers of the Army, those who are trained to kill almost exclusively in cold blood. In warzones, it is not uncommon to see an enemy drop dead while shaving or while talking to a companion, so long as they were careless enough to let their guard down long enough for a Scout Trooper to take the shot. Grand General Konstantine was a Scout Trooper in the time of the war between the Alliance and the Imperium.

Assault Troopers, also called Heavy Stormtroopers and Shock Troopers, are the vanguard of the Imperial Army. Trained in all ranges of combat, and often fitted with an E98 ‘Ripperjack’ Heavy Repeater and a IV-1 vibroblade, Centurion armor, and stim packs for peak combat efficiency. Assault Troopers are the crushing force of the Imperial Army. Often, they are sent to decimate resistance movements, insurrections, or unruly native inhabitants into submission. In the eyes of many in the galaxy, Assault Troopers are perceived essentially as "Super" Stormtroopers.

It is not uncommon to hear brutal stories of Assault Troopers gunning down criminals even as they surrender and retreat in fear, as Assault Troopers are trained to be the most ruthless men and women in the entire galaxy. It is rumored that even Sith Acolytes are often shocked by the frightening efficiency of the Assault Troopers’ brutality in combat at home and abroad. They are also heavily trained in hand-to-hand combat, specifically the Nohgri combat art of Stava, and have been known to take down even well trained Echani without a weapon equipped. Identified by their orange pauldrons, often personally customized armor, and the occasional former Mandalorian, Assault Troopers are one of the greatest forces within the Imperium Military.

Hostile Environment Troopers, more commonly called HOSTEN Troopers, Hazard Troopers, or EVO Troopers, are a branch of the Imperial Army specially trained to brave the harshest and most toxic of climates and terrains. From the poisonously lethal airs of Raxus Prime to the volcanic climate of Shola, HOSTEN Troopers are expected to perform comfortably. As such, HOSTEN Troopers are often armed with flamethrowers, or other environment-dependent weapons, and wear heavily specialized Centurion armor to regulate their rebreathers and air intake. Additional sealing countermeasures ensure the stability of the armor's internal supplies and the armor itself is treated and conditioned to bear the environment around them.

In the case of the HOSTEN trooper, the Centurion Armor is modified and treated to no longer have a weakness to fire and incendiary weapons, however this comes at a great cost to maneuverability. Their training is simple in that they are trained to be fearless, no matter their situation. Burning buildings, exploding volcanos, desolate, poisonous worlds, nothing can even remotely deter the fearlessness of the HOSTEN troopers.

Urban Troopers, also called Polis Stormtroopers, are a division of the Imperial Army that, true to their namesake, specializes in urban warfare. Engaging in guerrilla tactics, surgical strikes, hit-and-runs, and other less traditional warfare, Urban Troopers are essentially the special operations branch of the Imperial Military, and are more often dispatched to shatter, destabilize, or otherwise cripple a target before a larger force moves in to takeover.

They are equipped with the most diverse range of equipment with each soldier varying depending on his job within a squad. However, they are always equipped with vibroblades, thermal detonators, plasma grenades, and flashbang grenades. Trained heavily in close quarters combat, Urban Troopers are exceedingly frightening and nearly impossible to stop once they've landed.

Stormtrooper Commandos, also called Storm Commandos, Blackhole Stormtroopers, and Shadow Stormtroopers, are the most elite of the Imperial Army. They make up most of the legendary 501st Legion. Prepared for direct assaults, infiltrations, marine warfare, and more, the Stormtrooper Commandos are the absolute best of the best, save for the Imperial Royal Guard. Stormtrooper Commandos are equipped with matte black armor, special weapons and armors, repulsorpacks and unique starships for their missions. As the prime special forces of the Imperium, the Stormtrooper Commandos are sent to deal with the Imperium's most difficult enemies, and are the dread of any enemy to cross their paths. Select members of the Stormtrooper Commandos are elected to be members of the Imperial Guard.

The Imperial Guard, also known as the Honor Guard, the Nova Guard, and Novatroopers, are the absolute elite of the Stormtrooper Commandos chosen to be part of the Sith upper echelon's personal royal guard. Unmistakably distinguished by their black armor laced with gold, the Imperial Guard is a seldom seen force, even by members of the Imperium, as their duty is to the Empress, Dark Lord, and Grand General alone. Fanatically loyal to those three, the Imperial Guard is often considered to be the most deadly fighting force in the entire galaxy.

Their minds are unshakeable, their wills unbreakable, their strength indomitable. The Imperial Guard is the fighting force of the galaxy that even highly trained Force Users fear. Better trained than even Stormtrooper Commandos and kept on their toes by the constant assassination attempts, the Imperial Guard is a force to be reckoned with. [/ABOX3]

The nature of the Imperial Armed Forces

The armed might of the NSI is vast, but not inexhaustible. It accounts for 30% of the Imperium’s total population and is split into three broad categories, encompassing many different branches of armed service. The “Alpha Refit” program completely overhauled the entire armed forces selection of vehicles and assets, reviving older designs of vehicles that were deemed useful and overhauling existing designs to better meet the needs of the modern Imperial Military.

The Imperial Garrison is what the old Imperial Army became, the grey uniformed, blast-visored troops being sent to their home worlds to become the local garrison. Garrison troops are expected to police and guard their world of origin, and are given little in the way of advanced vehicles beyond AT-ST/ar’s and other light suppression vehicles or training. Equipped with small arms and light anti-tank weaponry and clad in ballistic breastplates and armourweave fatigues, the Garrison are little more that glorified security, although the Imperial Stormtrooper Corps does supplement it’s own recruitment by taking the best the Garrison offers from across the Imperium.

[ The intent of the Garrison is to provide a basic level of defense, recruited locally and given modest equipment and average training. Their whole purpose is to simply be blaster fodder, from a storytelling perspective ]

The Imperial Stormtrooper Corps is the reformed Imperial Army and Stormtroopers, forming the main aggressive fighting force of the NSI. The dissolution of the old Imperial Army thrust the Stromtroopers to the forefront of the Imperial military machine. All NSI ground vehicles are crewed by Stormtroopers, and the main fighting strength of the NSI’s Legions are Stormtrooper infantry formed into skilled and disciplined fighting units.

The Imperial Army’s primary large scale fighting unit is the Legion, a unit formed from assets drawn from across the Imperium to persecute a specific campaign. These Legions are then dissolved and the component fighting units sent to other fronts, where the process begins anew. Fixed units are rare, with the Imperium being so vast that permanent stations for it’s primary fighting force are rare and near pointless considering the size of territory that the NSI must defend, let alone project it’s fighting force beyond it’s own borders.

Keeping the formation of units fluid and flexible also allows the Imperial Stormtroopers to bring the right tools for the job to any given mission. Wastefulness is often cause enough for execution within the Stormtrooper Corps, although in practice the incompetent are simply demoted to the lowest ranks.

Recruitment is twofold. The top percentile of ex-Army troopers and Garrison soldiers are folded into the Corps, becoming Stormtroopers. The second form of recruitment is through a number of Legion bases throughout Imperial space, acting as standard recruitment centers, recruiting all races and genders who meet the stringent requirements for the Corps. The Corps took over old Army recruitment centers as well, spreading the presence of the Stormtroopers across the Imperium even more.

The Imperial Navy is the largest fighting element of the NSI’s fighting force, encompassing a vast number of Capital-class ships, escorts, fighters and bombers. The Navy pilots all craft capable of self powered flight in an atmospheric environment, directly supporting their Army counterparts on the ground.

The Navy is split into a number of flexible, fluid Fleets, whose complement of ships rarely exceeds a specific number, but the composition of which can vary drastically depending the needs of the Fleet’s mission and assets available. While a Fleet’s commanding officer ( a Commodore or Fleet-Admiral for example ) may remain constant for their tour of duty, many varying factors may change the layout of the CO’s available assets while never exceeding the optimal number of capital ships deemed appropriate by the NSI’s Logistic Corps for a Fleet.

Of particular note is the Imperial Commerce Fleet, a merchant arm of the Navy which handles the galaxy-spanning logistics effort to run the NSI’s mighty armed forces across the galaxy. Without the Commerce Fleet, the Navy and the Army would simply grind to a halt. As a part of the Logistic Corps, the Commerce Fleet is responsible for the refit, resupply and non-combatant duties of all arms of the NSI’s military. From humble chefs to postmen and armourers, the Commerce Fleet are the unsung heroes of the New Sith Imperium’s military might. In addition to their military duties, the Commerce Fleet handles civilian cargo as well, forming a key link in the chain of survival for the Imperium’s daily activity.

Also within the Navy as a whole is the elite Starfighter Corps, an arm that has a higher dropout rate than any other Imperial armed forces arm. Less than 2% of applicants make it, the washouts ultimately being assigned as gunnery crews to Navy warships.

Organisation of the Stormtrooper Corps

The basic fighting unit of the Imperial Stormtroopers is the Legion. The Legion consists of 5,400 infantrymen total, split into ten companies of 480 men, each company split into six platoons of 80 soldiers, who are then further divided into 8 squads of 10 soldiers. The Legion is an inherently flexible unit, able to carry out a multitude of tasks with efficiency, despite their temporary nature. In addition to this infantry strength, a Legion is issued a sizable vehicular element, with support crews. Standardized troop transport capacities onboard Navy ships means that, regardless of the physical size of the Legion, everything can be transported and deployed with ease.

The Legion is designed to be assembled, deployed, complete it’s mission, dissolved and reformed elsewhere. Troops are reassigned by Squad to their new Legion posting and sent to the next mission. Downtime is often a luxury given to Stormtroopers who have gone through at least three Legion deployments. Reformation and dissolution of Legions is done at the nearest Oversector Station above a number of worlds throughout Imperial space, mission-specialist equipment ( if needed ) handed out and new orders issued, with the newly formed, fresh Legion sent on it’s next combat posting.

Legions are often assigned a randomly generated number when they are created, which is both temporary and unique. The Legions are constantly on the move, with line troops constantly shifting from one flashpoint to the next.

The Stormtroopers themselves are trained across the Imperium on a number for Fortress-Worlds, of which Bastion is the most notable, forming the primary static HQ of the Corps and, in the event of emergency, becoming the temporary capital of the Imperium in the event Anaxes is overrun.

At it’s core, the Stormtrooper Squad is the basic building block of a Legion. Numbering ten Stormtroopers, led by one ( non-comissioned ) officer known as a Sergeant, it consists of nine enlisted Stormtroopers, one of which is a Corporal. Armed primarily with the E75A1 blaster rifle, the Stormtrooper squad can be issued a number of other weapons and tools, such as various grenades, non-lethal weapons, mortars, anti-tank launchers and tripod mounted repeaters, wildly changing the Squad’s mission profile and role within the eighty-strong Platoon that a Squad is a part of.

A note here about Stormtrooper specialists, such as HOSTEN or Snow Troopers. These specialisations are considered to be part of a Stormtrooper’s continual learning process, with troopers undergoing certification for these exotic roles and their unique equipment loadouts over time. Certifications are the primary determining factor when specialist missions are drawn up, the Corps forming up new Legions made up of these specialists as needed. The only exception to this rule is the Zero-G Assault specialisation, which is mandatory and included in a Stormtroopers basic training package.

The Platoon is the next level of command, led by a Stormtrooper Captain whom coordinates the eight squads under his command, seeing to it that his corpsmen stay up to date with information, receive timely support and resupply as the mission progresses and is able to call in fire missions from supporting vehicle units. The Stormtrooper Captain is the first Commissioned rank within the Corps and is equal to the former Galactic Alliance’s Lieutenant in their now irrelevant ground forces. Stormtrooper Captains are expected to lead from the front, taking the same risks as their men.

There are ten companies to a Legion, each made up of six platoons of eighty men. The six Captains report directly to the Company Commander ( or simply Commander. Stormtrooper Commander is also used ), a seasoned veteran who has seen numerous missions and is best able to direct his unit where it is needed, marshalling his platoons onto objectives with ruthless efficiency. AT-AT/a units are often put under the direct command of a Stormtrooper Commander, alongside artillery and other fire support assets, such as Navy fighter and bomber support. Like the six Captains below him, the Stormtrooper Commander is expected to lead his company from the front.

The leaders of the Legions themselves are the Stormtrooper Majors, battle scarred veterans of countless missions, entrusted with the responsibility to organise and lead a Legion into battle. Stormtrooper Majors are front line combatants, able to set an example for their subordinate officers and enlisted corpsmen whilst simultaneously directing Legion-level assets, such as orbital turbolaser strikes from orbiting Navy vessels, or other more exotic support vehicles. Majors are issued with durable command vehicles that let them coordinate the entire Legion, simultaneously managing communications down to the squad level. A Major can, at any time, personally direct individual Stormtrooper squads if needed with absolute authority. As the principal field officer of the Legion, Stormtrooper Majors report directly to Sector Generals and other theatre-level commanders.

New Ground Technology Proposals

The Alpha Refit program, instituted after the Siege of Manaan, was a reactionary body of scientists, military advisors and Sith who felt that following emergence of the New Sith Imperium, the ground forces arm of the armed forces was extremely lacking, with only the cumbersome AT-AT/a and the redundant AT-ST/a available for ground operations. The seeming lack of tanks, artillery and more versatile light walker designs was found to be incredibly limiting for ground operations. The Alpha Refit team turned to the past, to the vast archives of military history, designs and lessons learned. Rapid prototyping of old designs, refitted with modern materials and improved weapons began almost immediately. The following vehicles are just a small sample of what the Alpha Refit program has produced, with many more designs on the way.

Imperial Armoured Assault Dropship/Alpha Refit

Affiliation: New Sith Imperium.

Ownership: N/A.

Intent: To fill in gaps in the Imperial technological roster.

Model: Imperial Armoured Assault Dropship/Alpha Refit: IAAD/ar.

Dimensions: Length – 20 meters. Height – 23.2 meters.

Class: Dropship/Troop Transport/Boarding vessel.

Crew: 1x Pilot. 1x Gunner.

Complement: 20 Stormtroopers, 5 speeder bikes, 1 medical droid.

Armament: Missile Launchers (2; 30 missiles each), light blaster cannons (2), blaster cannons (2), optional repeater mounts from troop bay doors (4)

Equipment: Military grade particle shield generator. Military Grade Sensors. Emergency medical supplies. Blast shields. Atmospheric seals. Life support. Sensor decoy. Chaff launcher. Rappel Lines.

Speed: 75 MGLT. Atmospheric: 720 km/h.

Hyperdrive Rating: 5.0.

Maneuverability: The IAAD/ar is surprisingly agile for a 'flying bread tin', as it has been described. Capable of speeds up to 720 km/h in atmospheric flight, and with improved repulsor drives, the IAAD/ar is capable of both great speed and handling, and skilled Navy Pilots have been noted for being able to make it 'turn on a credit chip'.

Description: Requiring a purpose-built dropship capable of delivering Imperial Stormtroopers to the battlefield at key locations during orbital invasions, or even delivering said soldiers into the belly of an enemy warship, the Imperial High Command searched long and hard for a suitable candidate. They considered the MandalMotors VAAT/i. They looked at the MAAT and the LAAT variants of yore. None of these previous designs matched what was needed, either being overly specialized, under armed or underarmoured.

But in the end, they decided to put the old Imperial Dropship Transport through the Alpha Refit Project, and renamed it the Imperial Armoured Assault Dropship, or IAAD/ar for short. This ship was to be well armed, carrying plenty of missiles and blaster cannons for defence and offence, as well as armour twice as thick as most ships of it's size and class. Able to deploy two squads of Stormtroopers into a contested landing zone and provide fire support after it’s cargo has been deployed, the IAAD/ar is a very durable, very fast and well armed troop ship.

Taking a note from the Imperial Birikad-class shuttle, the Imperium redesigned the IAAD/ar with a hull consisting of ultrachrome armour plates, which allows the dropship to safely disperse the heat and energy of laser blasts across a wide area, with a titanium-reinforced alusteel body and internal hull, with the entire structure reinforced with neutronium-impregnated duranium struts and beams, giving the ship exceptional durability.

An on-board Hyperdrive and optional stealth plating turns the IAAD/ar into a capable commando vehicle, although the range of the hyperdrive still requires a base ship in the vicinity.

SPMA/ar - Self Propelled Medium Artillery/Alpha Refit

Affiliation: New Sith Imperium

Ownership: N/A

Intent: To fill in gaps in the Imperium's ground forces.

Model: Self-Propelled Medium Artillery - Alpha Refit. SPMA/ar.

Size:Length – 30 meters. Height – 20.6 meters.

Weight: A lot.

Armor Rating: While an artillery unit, and designed to be far behind the main lines of battle, the SPMA/ar still possesses thick, hyper-conductive armour which helps disperse the heat from blaster and laser weapons across a wide area and severely reduces the risk posed from such weapons. The higher end of laser weapons, such as the heaviest of lasers and turbolasers still pose a potent threat, however, as does most forms of projectiles and explosives.

Against projectile weapons, the SPMA is vulnerable on it’s hip joints, while the hull is coated in a layer of ERA armour plating to help alleviate the hull’s lack of particle shielding.

Shield Rating: N/A.

Propulsion: The SPMA/ar trundles along the battlefield on eight legs, at the leisurely pace of 35 km/h, powered by one of two fusion generators.

Armament/Equipment: The SPMA/ar in itself, as an artillery unit, carries one large, dorsal mounted, main gun. This gun comes in several variations, the most common being a massive turbolaser cannon. The others include an ion cannon, a dedicated anti-vehicle laser cannon, missile platform, or a giant mass driver.

In addition, the SPMA/ar possesses four light repeater cannons for anti-infantry situations. Two are mounted up front under the 'chin', while the remaining pair are mounted at the stern of the walker. As an additional security measure, the SPMA/ar sports twelve retractable anti-infantry blasters along it's flanks, six on each side, which necessitates an additional twelve gunners to the walker's crew.

Description: With war against the Hutts and other insidious forces looming on the horizon, the Sith Imperium found themselves contemplating battle without a dedicated self-propelled artillery unit to support their ground forces. This was clearly a devastating oversight, and one which needed to be corrected, promptly.

With Project Alpha Refit well under way, Imperial High Command decided to revive the old SPMA walker which performed so admirably during the days of Palpatine's Empire. With improved holographic targeting capabilities, a secondary fusion generator dedicated solely to it's main gun, gyroscopic stabilizers and independent suspension, the SPMA/ar is ready and capable of supporting any modern military force, in any of it's many configurations.

TX-140T/ar

Affiliation: New Sith Imperium

Ownership: N/A

Intent: To fill in gaps in the Imperium's ground forces.

Model: TX-140T/ar Fighter Tank.

Size:Length: 8.2 meters. Width: 3.05 meters. Height: 2.3 meters.

Weight: 28,000 kg. Weightless while repulsorlift is engaged.

Armor Rating: With the nickname of 'starfighter on the ground', the TX-140T/ar has relatively lightweight, but durable, armour, roughly equivalent to that of a somewhat large starfighter. It's armour is however mostly dedicated to resisting physical assault, such as missile strikes or other forms of explosives thanks to it’s prototype ERA armour plating.

Shield Rating: The TX-140T/ar Fighter Tank possesses two ray-shield generators, which gives the TX exceptional protection against any man-portable blaster weaponry, and lighter laser cannons. It is still vulnerable to the heavier end of energy weapons, especially turbolasers.

Propulsion: Powered by several energy cells, similar to those that powers the AT-ST/ar, is a potent repulsorlift engine. This engine allows the TX to hover above ground and move at blistering speed, with it's regular cruising speed resting comfortably at 193 km/h. However, with a temporary boost to the repulsor-drives, it can move at up to 321 km/h, though this is taxing on the energy cells and can cause the repulsorlift engine to overheat.

Armament/Equipment: The TX-140T/ar Fighter Tank is armed with a single top-mounted beam cannon turret, two heavy laser cannons on either side of the cockpit, and a pair of computer-guided missile launchers along the hull. The launchers fired thermal detonators or concussion missiles, with a payload of eight missiles. The top cannon's gunner lacked shielding around most of his body, allowing enemy snipers to easily target a stationary vehicle and kill the gunner.

Description: Facing combat across a multitude of worlds, against countless species and factions, the New Sith Imperium found that the Imperial Army lacked a truly dedicated armoured infantry-support vehicle, especially one that could go wherever the Imperial Stormtrooper needed to fight.

So, when the Imperium launched it's Alpha Refit program, they revived and modernized the TX-130T Fighter Tank, highly popular and an effective combat platform widely utilized during the Clone Wars and the Galactic Civil War. Capable of performing anti-armour and infantry support roles on any terrain, and capable of crossing the battleground quite quickly, the TX-140T/ar Fighter Tank quickly proved popular amongst the Imperial Army.

*Features: x2 Shield Generators. Energy cells. Ground-penetrating sensors. Repulsorlift engine. Repulse booster/turbo.

D9 Juggernaut

Affiliation: New Sith Imperium.

Ownership: N/A

Intent: To fill out gaps within the Imperial Military's ground forces.

Model: Heavy Assault Vehicle/wheeled D9 Juggernaut AR.

Size:Length: 49.4 meters. Width: 19.6 meters. Height: 30.4 meters.

Weight: Absurd.

Armor Rating: With thick, thermally superconducting armor (capable of absorbing enemy fire and dispersing heat over a wide area), the Juggernaut is all but impervious to most forms of blaster and laser damage, save from the most potent of sources, such as turbolasers and the heaviest of laser cannons.

It does however remain somewhat more vulnerable to missiles and explosives, especially along it's suspension units and underbelly, though with thick armour, which ranges from 0.5 to 0.90 meters thick at certain places, even high explosives would struggle having a notable impact on an Imperial Juggernaut.

The lack of ERA plating is due to the sheer thickness of the vehicle’s armour, similar to the AT-AT/a. A noted weakness is a vulnerability to thermal mines striking the underbelly.

Shield Rating: N/A.

Propulsion: Each Juggernaut contains a small fusion reactor, which powers the entire behemoth of a vehicle, and transfers momentum to it's ten wheels, each of whom possesses individual motors and suspension, allowing for great handling across and traction across any terrain. The Juggernaut is capable of propelling itself along at a blistering top speed of 160 kp/h.

Armament/Equipment: A heavy laser cannon turret, a rapid repeating laser cannon, two medium anti personnel laser cannons, two twin antipersonnel blaster cannons, and two turreted, retractable, projectile launchers, loadable with variable-yield concussion grenades for close support or missiles added for anti-armor firepower. Missile range is 30 km.

Description: The HAVw D9 Juggernaut is a fortress on wheels. Much like it's predecessor, the A6, the D9 is built to carry up to four hundred and eighty Imperial Stormtroopers into battle in certain configurations, the Juggernaut also possesses the speed and armour to get it's precious and deadly cargo where they are needed, when they are needed, and has the firepower to stay in the fight and provide fire support for the Stormtroopers in it's care.

However, the internal bays of the Juggernaut are modular, and can be altered to carry as few as 50 passengers, but with a far larger amount of various supplies or even airspeeders and other vehicles. The Juggernaut operates best with a crew of twenty, of which eight of these are gunners, however, with an automation upgrade, the crew can be reduced to as little as two pilots.

Due to the Juggernaut's sheer size, weight, and it's difficulties in turning, the Juggernaut is not recommended for urban environments, but excels in wide open areas. However, the juggernaut possesses two cockpits. A larger one in front, and a smaller, secondary cockpit at the back, allowing it to move just as fast and easily in reverse as going forward, solving some of it's issues with manoeuvrability.

The D9 makes an excellent command vehicle, able to carry massive amounts of communication gear and able to be retrofitted with shield generators although this sacrifices a lot of transport capacity.

Features: Thermally superconducting armour. Two cockpits. Holographic targeting suite. Military grade ground-penetrating sensors. Modular cargo bays. Telescopic observation tower. Atmospheric seals. Airlocks.

AT-ST/ar

Affiliation: New Sith Imperium.

Ownership: N/A

Intent: To fill out gaps within the Imperial Military's ground forces.

Model: AT-ST/ar. All Terrain Transport, Alpha Refit.

Size: 8.6 Meters.

Weight: 12,100 Kilograms.

Armor Rating: Like it's previous incarnations, the AT-ST/ar was primarily designed to be a Hit-and-Run recon vehicle, and thus doesn't sport the far heavier armour like it's bigger cousins, the AT-AT, but it is none the less capable of withstanding standard blaster fire, but is vulnerable to heavy laser fire and missiles.

Having noted the AT-ST's dismal performance against the Ewoks on Endor one thousand years prior, the Alpha Refit has received reinforced armour at the sides and back of the cockpit as well as the many joints of it's two legs, and the access/egress hatch up top now possess magnetic seals to prevent hijacking.

The AT-ST/ar also has a layer ERA armour plating on it’s fighting compartment ( the head ). It’s notable that this feature is often removed from some variants.

Shield Rating: N/A, although some variants may be fitted with a Ray shield projector, although this sacrifices all weapons capacity.

Propulsion: The AT-ST/ar relies on a series of potent series of energy cells, located behind the main cockpit, which powers the main drive engine, and allows the two legs to move. The Alpha Refit no longer possesses the flat footpads of the original AT-ST, but instead possesses four articulated 'toes' around a central footpad, which allows for far superior grip on nearly any surface. The AR also possesses an improved gyro-stabilizing unit, which helps prevent the cockpit from being jostled about too much on uneven terrain.

Armament/Equipment: Military grade ground-penetrating sensor suite, ECM suite, holographic targeting with helmet HUD integration. Standard weapon loadout includes: Heavy twin blaster cannon (1), repeating twin blaster cannon (1), concussion grenade launcher (1, carries 8 grenades), pintle-mounted heavy repeater.

Description: For nearly a millennia, the AT-ST has been the workhorse of the Imperial Armed Forces, and has remained that way thanks to clever and subtle upgrades and improvements over the years, as technology and warfare changed. The AT-ST/ar is the newest version of the AT-ST to be created, and like it's previous versions, it possesses several different sub-variants suited or specialized tasks across the galaxy.

But the main variant, the AT-ST/ar itself, remains fundamentally the same as the tried and true AT-ST from that of the Galactic Civil War, with the same armaments, but with improved armour, mobility, and sensors. It is once again ready to fill the role of being the Imperium's workhorse!

A note on the previous vehicle in service, the AT-ST/advanced. This vehicle was found wanting during operations on Coruscant, the vehicle’s attempt at being both a troop transport and a light combat walker leading to deficiencies in both aspects. It lacked the armour to survive protracted combat, and the squad of Stormtroopers within were cramped and uncomfortable, leading to a noticeable decrease in combat performance. Indeed, the transported squad were often unable to carry with them the needed heavy equipment, such as PLEX missile launchers or portable proton torpedo launchers, to protect their transport.

As such, all AT-ST/advanced walkers have been recalled and converted into the more suitable AT-ST/alpha refit variants, most often as the AT-ST/arA, the vehicles transport capacity being turned into extended hazardous environment survivability.

Variants:

AT-FS: All Terrain Fire Supression. This variant of the AT-ST/ar has been fitted with large tanks of fire retarding chemicals at the back of the main cockpit, and is used for fire fighting in both urban and rural terrain. The AT-FS possesses lighter armour, but an improved engine for greater top speed.

AT-CL: All Terrain Construction Loader. This variant forgoes the chin-mounted twin blaster cannon for a set of articulated 'jaws', which enables the walker to pick up and lift heavy items with great ease, and is frequently used for construction work, especially in rough terrain and to create forward military outposts.

AT-MP: All Terrain Missile Platform. This variant forgoes all the standard armaments of the standard AT-ST/ar, to become a highly mobile missile platform, where it carries four missile pods on either side of it's head, and a single repeater cannon mounted under it's 'chin'. This variant also possesses shorter, sturdier, legs.

AT-RS: All Terrain Riot Supression. This variant replaces all the standard armaments of the AT-ST/ar for non-lethal weaponry. Mounted in the walker's 'chin' is a twin-repeater set to fire stun bolts, while carrying grenade launchers on either side of it's 'head', allowing it to fire flashbangs, gas grenades, and other non-lethal payloads.

AT-MT: All Terrain Mortar Transport. This variant replaces the standard armaments of the AT-ST Mk.3 for carrying a total of six mortars bolted onto the sides and back of the 'head', and a chin-mounted twin-repeater cannon. This variant also possesses shorter, sturdier, legs.

AT-ST/arA Mk.3: All Terrain Transport/Alpha Refit Assault. This is the least radical of all the AT-ST/ar variants, and simply features a wholly enclosed cockpit, with atmospheric seals, air-scrubbers, and a 24 hour oxygen supply. This variant is noted for mounting extensive flamethrowers for close quarters work.

Interesting.

I'll see if I can incorporate some of the stuff about the general IAF, the STC and the Navy into the other posts.

I dunno if I'll do anything with the tech. Probably not.

All current Imperial Armed Forces player characters will be assigned to the 501st Stormtrooper Legion, Aurek Company, Third Platoon, Second Squad, informally known as the Howlrunners. While naval ranks will be respected and Imperial characters may have a background as part of the Imperial Navy, all IAF player characters will be, for whatever plausible reasons, assigned to this particular Stormtrooper unit to foster greater character interaction.

There is, of course, always the potential to expand should interest and activity within the Imperial Armed Forces grow.

Imperial Theaters and Armadas

As with any formal military force, the forces of the Imperial Armed Forces are divided into fleets and armies termed as theaters and armadas. In their largest segments, both the theaters and armadas operate under either expeditionary or homeworld designations.

Expeditionary theaters and armadas are the common organized military forces dispatched across the galaxy for stellar assaults, bolstering defenses, or otherwise engaging in galactic warfare wherever they may be dispatched. Because they are the most common divisions of the Imperial theaters and armadas, expeditionary military forces are often referred to with their title of "expeditionary" hyphenated from their names. For example, the Black Genesis Armada would formally be classified as the Expeditionary System Armada, Black Genesis, and the Primus Galactic Army would, by the same token, be classified as Expeditionary Galactic Army, Primus.

Homeworld theaters and armadas are, simply stated, garrison military forces. Unlike expeditionary troops, homeworld troops are stationary and are not dispatched from worlds, systems or sectors. Acting as permanently entrenched forces for the purposes of defending strategic worlds, hyperlanes, trade goods or resources, homeworld theaters and armadas are much rarer than their expeditionary counterparts, and are tactically situated depending on their quarry; some homeworld military forces guard individual worlds, while others may guard systems or even entire sectors. For example, Bastion is protected by two homeworld sector armies and sector armadas, whereas Ord Mantell is protected by one homeworld system army and one homeworld system armada. Mygeeto, meanwhile, is protected only by one homeworld region army and one homeworld region armada.

@Bee @Clayton @Fat Possum

Random idea for naval structure in regards to non-starfighers:
  • Element: classification for a lone ship
  • Group: 2 ships; generally either a Destroyer with an escort or two escorts*
  • Battlegroup/Battle Group: 5 ships, generally 1 destroyer and 4 escorts
  • Fortress Fleet/Defense Fleet: A misnomer, it is actually just a Battlegroup with two extra ships; generally locked at a single system
  • Fleet: 3 Battlegroups
  • Sector Fleet: 1 Fleet, with an additional Group (which is part of Commerce Fleet so capable of nuisance threats such as pirates and patrolling, but not too effective against military enemies; more of flavor-wise and generally won't appear in Battle threads unless specifically targeted, so allows missions against them)
  • Home Fleet: Home Fleets functions similarly to Defense Fleet in that it remains at a single system. Few in number, Home Fleets protect the most important of fortress worlds (i.e. Anaxes, Bastion, Corellia)

Let's keep army as is for now. It may be okay. I'm just not sure, so submitting as is will allow us some feedback on the numbers.

For starfighter structure, my suggestion is removing "element" and downgrading everything after that (i.e. Flight becomes the new Element, wing becomes the new squadron, etc. Again, I'm not as familiar with their numbers, so if the numbers as they are are fine, then by all means keep them.

Haven't looked over Theaters and Armadas yet.

We'll also want to make a complete list of what planets/systems have specialized defenses (i.e. Defense Fleet, Home Fleet, a lone Group, etc.). I'll look for the previous list later tonight when I get on a computer again.

As for the Roster, it looks good. We can probably merge Imperial General and Sith General. There's no spot for admirals right now I've noticed. And this is just my personal thing, but not carrying for "Howlrunners" (I still favor Heroic Squad, lol). Then again I'm probably not the best person to judge naming things, lol.

*Escorts being defined as frigates/corvettes/cruisers

Order of Battle. 1 thread, 2 posts.

THE IMPERIAL ARMED FORCES

Uo2VnZ8.png

Order of Battle

The Imperial Military is a vast galactic force with trillions of able-bodied troops, once called Imperial , all organized into an orderly command structure, which divides their armies. Because much of the Stormtrooper Corps acts as a backbone for the Imperial Military, they themselves are also included in the command structure, acting as an elite special force. Hence, the Imperial Order of Battle, or ORBAT, designated the split of the Imperial Sith Trooper (formerly Imperial Trooper) regular forces and the Stormtrooper special forces.

Imperial Army Command Structure and Organization

    • Galactic Army** — 20 sector armies (9,600,000,000 units)
    • Sector Army* — 10 system armies (480,000,000 units)

Should we just get rid of the theaters/armadas write up?

Works for me.

I honestly have no idea why it exists other than to vaguely describe some fleets at Bastion, Saleucami, and Sriluur. Not sure if that was intended for something story related or someone just got drunk and decided to randomly assign fleets and armies to places, but it is basically just a wall of useless text from a practical standpoint.

@Bee @Fat Possum @Clayton Thoughts? Feedback/recommendations welcome. I'll probably clarify some of the fleet make-ups in the Navy write-up, along with listing fortress worlds/home worlds, plus a blurb about the Commerce Fleet.

Rough draft list of fortress/home worlds:
  • Anaxes
  • Bastion
  • Bilbringi
  • Bestine (retroactive after the Battle of Bestine)
  • Corellia
  • Coruscant
  • Empress Teta (due to it replacing Coruscant as the new galactic trade hub)
  • Fondor
  • Kuat
  • Thyferra
  • Verkuyl
  • Ziost
What other planets should we add to the list?

Also, should we make a write-up for the Coterie forces?

@Dmitri

My only concern with that version is that the breakdown of the Army and then the breakdown of the Navy take two very, very different approaches.

The army lists literally every potential soldier up to the max 9.6 billion, and then the Navy just sort of gets vague representations of different fleet elements from 1 ship to 25 ships (Anaxes, Bastion, Coruscant) without specifying how many Home Fleets, Sector Fleets, Fleets, Battlegroups, and so on that there are.

You could breakdown fleet locations given the current unchanged ORBAT without fiddling with the numbers rather than reinventing the structure of it.

@Clayton Any numbers need changing? Also, any other suggestions for fortress worlds?

I'm uncertain if all of these are Fortress Worlds, which is why they aren't all with a fleet. At any rate, I've got ships designated as Destroyer and up for our Destroyers (duh), along with anything Heavy Cruiser and down as the escort/support. I've tried to make it so that each SD and accompanying support ships can function as an independent unit to improve fluidity in response to various threats. So for example, the Hyperion groups would take incoming ships out of hyperspace and disable them with fighters and ion fire. Anaxes, Coruscant, and Bastion (since they have 5 Battlegroups) have been given an SSD.

I also don't know the status of what would be at Thyferra. I think Rom is gonna talk to you about that, Weiss.

Something I've been thinking about. Anaxes is the capitol of the Imperium, it's something that we would want to make it look impossible to attack. I'd like to add 4 more Battlegroups to it, if that sounds reasonable to you guys. And really, any fighting for Anaxes would be towards the end of the timeline and would be a large fleet battle, something on the scale of Coruscant at the fall of the GA.
