I need a little knudge

I need a little Forum Guidance here. I currently have the character that I will be considering my Main Character. She is appropriately Independent, and has the personality and morals to work with any character, company, or Faction.

I am highly considering making a second character, but I am conflicted about where I want to place her (Most likely a her, as I believe I've only ever played one male character on SWRP and I don't know how successful I was at it).

1. Do I play a Senator or BA soldier (Least fleshed out idea) to play with one of my best buddies on the Forum, and be a part of a faction that needs more activity?
2. Do I play the Insane Sith; which was a fun creation, but there appears to have been quite a few of those made this timeline?
3. Do I play the enigmatic Jedi who has an almost obscene fascination with lightsabers?

I need your help deciding.

I would say go for the Republic, because that leaves a lot of options in the future. You also made a good point on that it needs more activity. I would say BA if you were to go that route.

Or go Sith. I'm just saying this because the Jedi already have a bunch of members, active or not, and don't really need anymore.

I'd love to say Sith (that being my faction) but like you said there's been plenty of crazy Sithies recently. Though Marf is doing a roster check right now and I don't know how many active people will be left after she's done.
The question to ask yourself is, do you want to have it easier and be part of an already very active faction (Sith, Jedi), or do you want to be a part of one where you'll probably have to take initiative but in doing so will help revive the faction?

My most sincere and major piece of advice is this, and will always be the same regarding the matter. RP whatever you are most passionate about and don't even consider which faction has the most members, or what kind of character is more overused.

Vi is an insane Sith Sorcerer. That's pretty much the biggest cliche in the history of man. How many fucks do I give? Zero, because I love the character and it's the kind of character I've always wanted to RP.

I'd go Border Alliance. They are fairly small in numbers, and can run a variety of RPs.

The Sith are currently restructuring, the Jedi are fully loaded, and a lot of Senators get archived because they have nothing to do.

Nah, in all honesty I agree with Marf and co. I hate it when I'm rping with someone and then they just randomly disappear from the site or stop threading with a character because they got bored with it and just quite showing up. You gotta think really hard about what'll be FUN for you to write. I just had to archive a character because I created her as a character I liked and liked the idea of, but then when it came to actually rping with her I just didn't enjoy it. (Coz I have an evil side and rping is the only outlet I have - she was waaaaayyy too nice XD)

Do what you love, man, but also do one that has substance. What I mean by that is that you should be able to write an awful lot about your character and have a lot of ideas for them. That means DO NOT PICK A GIMMICK! I cannot stress this enough. I see it a lot and I've done it myself. You pick a character thinking the concept itself is cool, but you don't really think it out too much. You end up RPing him/her and it gets pretty bland cause, beyond the gimmick, it's not very fun. That isn't to say you shouldn't be unique, but know the difference between a fully-fleshed character and a gimmicky concept.

I can tell you that having a Senator was incredibly fun for me. I loved every thread I did with him up until the end. The political banter was great, the voting, the hearings, the speeches. All very fun. They don't see much action outside of Senate matters though, and they're worthless in PvP. Senators can also come with OOC drama if you you play it wrong/right.

I left the Republic as a whole and am playing sith now, and haven't had a chance to play it, but it seems like it'll be fun.
