NAME: Huss’tri’xinio abbrev. “Strix”
FACTION: Independent
RANK: N/A
SPECIES: Chiss
AGE: 25
GENDER: Male
FORCE SENSITIVE: Yes, Untrained

APPEARANCE:
Strix is a lean, 6’ tall Chiss, having the distinct blue skin, red eyes and blue-black hair that characterize his species. He is 170 lbs. with a lean muscular build, adjusted to melee combat and hunting. In a formal setting, he wears full attire including gloves and makeup on his face to cover the one scar he has on his face running from the rim of his right eye socket down the cheek in a jagged line. What hardly anyone ever sees is his torso and legs. Both are covered in patches of patchy, discolored or malformed tissue as the results of several tests and experiments self administered over the course of his research. Also present are more scars that he has acquired in duels or while hunting.

ATTRIBUTES:
Strix is a very physically capable man. With a background in melee combat, a lifelong passion for animal sciences and an unrecognized affinity for the Force, he has spent years garnering survival skills and knowledge of various species sentient and otherwise. However the constant isolation of the varied expeditions across Wild Space leaves him very antisocial which he is all too aware of. He is also considered reckless, rarely taking into consideration other people’s advice, especially when criticizing his questionable methods. Despite his best efforts to appear regal in populated areas, he struggles against information overload in heavily populated areas and constantly deals with a myriad of side effects from the damage done to his body. This will put him in the position of leaving early from most events, either out of panic or to search for a way to ease the pain. A permanent side effect is his near constant hunger for meat, making him a connoisseur of sorts for intergalactic meats.

He is often skeptic when it comes to technology, as he believes the benefits in the varied creatures of the galaxy pose greater potential than advancements in blaster or hyperdrive technology. Although preferring to work alone, he is easily distracted by a new interesting species. Conversing and discussing with other gifted species of their unique abilities. This attraction also carries into his romantic interests as well, often drawn to exotic women such as Zeltrons or Nautolans. This curiosity also has side effects, as it leads to a subconscious racism towards less gifted species like humans and droids. However as his ultimate goal is to seek allies and sponsors, he will try albeit awkwardly, to gain funding for his next expedition or project from anyone who will listen.

PERSONALITY:
Strix is curious and reckless, which often leads to trouble. Because he seeks to better his social status constantly, he is usually overzealous which can backfire when combined with his antisocial demeanor and very rough Basic, preferring the more Wild Space oriented language of Sy Bisti. Any ally he does find he’ll constantly try to impress with his knowledge and promises of a scientific breakthrough for the galaxy. Considering his track record of partnerships, anyone he could truly call a friend would most likely have his undying loyalty. He dislikes those in power who look down on others as it reminds him of his brother. He loves nature but is disturbingly obsessed with the life and death he feels through the Force when hunting for new species samples, which to anyone from the outside looking in could be confused for bloodlust.

BIOGRAPHY:
Huss’tri’xinio was the second of four children born to one of the ruling families in the Chiss Aristocra. Since he was a child he had a love for nature. While his father was busy grooming his older brother Scikk’rea’thinio to one day lead their family in the Ascendancy, his mother was taking care of him, nurturing him and letting him pet the natural fauna of their home world. This lifestyle led to a childhood filled with outdoor activities and even some introductory lessons to hand to hand combat. By early adolescence, Strix was proud of himself for being able to hold his own and even overpower his elder brother. Yet what seemed to be a victory in his eyes, wasn’t reflected in the world around him. His instructors believed him a capable fighter, but his brother who did nothing but sit and talk received all of the praise. This was very confusing for a young Strix. As he grew older and able to venture out on his own, his endeavors began to escalate quickly. What was originally self defense became a daily routine of melee combat leaning heavily towards the use of a sword. This was also deeper exploration of the world around him and late nights spent in the serene quiet of the wilderness. Every day he grew stronger. Every day he would get closer to the creatures. He would show the doodles of the beasts he saw to his family, but he was alone in his passion.

One day, what for others would’ve simply been an interesting display, was a pivotal moment for Strix. He had been tracking a beast for days now. His family didn’t care where he was as long as he showed up for the gala in a few days time, so he wasn’t worried. The beast itself was large and intimidating. Then, the beast found prey. Strix watched as the beast he had grown to respect and revere pounced on its prey. And then it fell to the ground. The prey stood victorious against the would be assailant. An odd colored blood running down the smaller animal’s front. He felt it. He felt the death of the beast. And he felt the inner strength of the would be prey. How? How could such a massive beast be felled by such a frail creature. It was from this event that the next stage of his life began. His swordsmanship suffered as he abandoned his training, spending all his available time amongst the beasts. Studying them. Picking apart their carcasses. Studying them. Every day he would return to his professors with new inquiries based on his personal discoveries. He would watch the ebb and flow as beasts big and small lived and died for a plethora of reasons. His curiosity continued to grow and eventually it bubbled over into his first kill. In the dead of night, with his near infrared vision, he stalked the small creature, the one who has taken down his favorite beast and chopped its head clean off with his vibrosword.

He felt it. The alarm. The anger. And then the life fleeing from the beheaded corpse. He couldn’t describe it. It wasn’t as if the buzz of nature, the flow of the Force he unknowingly felt, stopped. It just, redirected. It was different now. It was a feeling he’d chase after for years. By his early adulthood he was well versed in alien biology and an accomplished hunter, with a room filled with trophies from his various kills, including the horn that had brought down the behemoth in front of his very eyes. It was the one he treasured the most. It was around this time that his father passed away. Despite never having a strong relationship with his father, Strix still mourned his loss for many days. Even if to his father he was nothing but a backup, Strix believed his father loved him. To his shock, his brother was expressionless. Not a single tear was shed. While Strix wept for the father he hardly knew, Kreath simply spoke a few words of his father, and assumed control of the household. While Strix comforted his mother and two sisters, Kreath met with their fathers associates, ensuring he still ha their support. Strix was furiously baffled. An exasperated rage he didn’t know how to direct or control.

Over the next year he spent all his time avoiding his brother and delving deeper into the science of the creatures he had spent years studying and hunting. Then began the experimentation. It started off small. Using the horns he collected as daggers. Then using bones as a frame for armor. None were as successful as his venom test. He made a solution from the venom of a native species which he had previously linked to aggression. But it worked better than expected and sent him into a fury, pummeling his instructor to a bloody pulp. The instructor lived, but this was enough to warrant his brothers attention. For once, Kreath acknowledged him. But it was as a threat. At any event, Strix was the loose cannon, the wild card. The one who entered to a flurry of whispers shared between family and allies. So while Strix went deeper into his obsession with self improvement through experimentation, his brother plotted against him. It was his 21st year when he was confronted. Kreath and his allies had a mountain of evidence against him. A body search showed the harm Strix was inadvertently doing to himself through trial and error, his passion was portrayed as bloodlust, and his youngest sister even spoke against him, saying his ‘episodes’ scared her. In the end not even his mother stood up for him. Maybe she was just too old. Or maybe she just didn’t love him. The effect was the same.

Thus, Strix was exiled from the entire Chiss Ascendancy. He took with him his sketches, his tools, and his vibrosword. Nothing more. It was this day that he learned the hard way of the two things Chiss value most: Strength, and Respect. While he had focused solely on bettering himself, he had done so with no thought given to the way his actions would reflect on him. His brother however, had respect. And whatever strength he lacked he bought it. Strix was left alone, with nothing but his thoughts and his tools. Despite his years of devotion, to his passions and to his family, they had led him here. Alone. With no passion. No family. But what was once passion was now determination. He wouldn’t let his brother win. He had yet to find the perfect specimen. He had an entire galaxy to explore, he’d become the greatest fighter the galaxy had ever seen. And then he’d return. He’d go back, look his family in the face as he returned triumphantly, flowing cape and an army at his back. And he would demand respect. Not vengeance. Recognization. And it all started with the next hunt.

Also I know this is really drab looking without a fancy template or anything, but I’d much rather put the effort into the writing as I’m not confident in using all the code prompts just yet.

By the way, this is the first-ish draft of my first stab at a character, so I’d love to hear some feedback!

That’s a-okay with me, he’s usually considered sick anyway so sick Pantoran would probably be a fitting description for an outside viewer.

This is untrue information. Chiss characters are playable, only the Ascendancy is unknown to the greater galaxy. So galactic denizens wouldnn't know of the Chiss home planet, but they may have seen some (although they may be more sparse) in the galaxy before. And Chiss characters aren't really able to travel back and forth between their homeworld and the civilized galaxy.

Hey there! Profile looks good for the most part, the only thing I see that needs changing is his gear. Take a look at the Tech Compendium, you'll have to choose a specific set of armour and link it to your bio instead of using what you have now. Just edit that bit and then let me know, you'll be all set!

Alright, changed the gear section to reflect that he wears outrider scout armor, which I believe is fitting as it is said to be more common in rougher parts of space, and has many knockoff variants.
