Ivan stood on the windy rock outcrop, looking to the jungle below. He wore scanning goggles, painting the world in blue, moving lifesigns came up as bright blue specks, with a small trail behind them. He grinned as he saw his prey, and jumped. His long red and black coat billowed out behind him like leathery wings, blocking out the high strength tension cable that allowed him a safe descent. The rain stung his face like needles, but he didn't care; The wind threatened to blow him into the rockface, but he didn't care; The branches beat his body, but he didn't care. He was HUNTING!

The fur on the back of Klaar's neck ruffled as he crouched down, hiding in the shadows as he smelled something. His cybernetic senses told him that something large and metal was here. If he would not have been blind, it would have been easy to see it, but the small vessel was hidden to him. At any rate, he knew that there was a clearing ahead of him, so it could be many numbers of things. However, it wasn't long before electronic impulses in his brain told him that it was some sort of starship - not seeing it, exactly, but some other form a visibility that was far less superior, but it was there. Who could be here? He let out a low growl, he smelled Selphi. It had been a long time since he had Selphi.

Bluntly, it had been a long time since he'd had anything larger than a myrkesh, ever since he'd been left on this planet, oh, months ago. It... angered him. It also made him hungry.

He slowly began his pursuit, carefully making his way through the underbrush, expertly making as little noise as possible as he closed in.

((He's not human, he's a Selphi offshoot. You gave me that species option, by the way, for the fluted ears.))

Ivan crouched in the scrub, drawing his hunting knife and pistol. He swept the area before him. He finally glimpsed the spot of light showing the reverse-sillouette of his prey. The lizardlike creature was human sized, with jaws that could crush durasteel plating like foil.

This would be easy.

He crept forward, circling the lizard. He crept closer...

And plunged his knife into the creature's heart. That didn't kill it, oh no! that would be far too easy. It turned to him, and lashed out with it's whiplike prehensile tail. Ivan jumped up, and slammed his leg into the beast's leg, breaking the bone. He ran up its body, onto its neck. He bent down, and bit cleanly into the lizard's jugular. Metallic liquid poured into his mouth, and he grinned, shooting the thing in the head. It fell, dead from trauma and bloodloss. Ivan stepped down from the carcass, wiping his mouth and picking up the knife still stabbed into the beast.

((Oops, forgot. :p))

Blood. That was one smell he knew, of any race he'd come across, there was always something... special about it.

At any rate, he sped up, hearing the sound of a commotion of one of the lizard-creatures here, which was no good. The lizard things tasted... awful. To put it mildly. He let out a snort before slowing down. Again, he smelled Selphi... almost sweet... but metallic. He stood still for a minute as the cybernetics slowly fed him information - the things were so slow. It seemed to take minutes, thought it was probably only five seconds before his brain translated the messages into something useful. the lizard thing was dead, but the Selphi was not. What was more, Klaar could not smell any fear from the Selphi, none. The Selphi - male, he could tell just by the delicate balance of the scent - was not lost, he was here for a purpose, and the lizard-things did not bother him. Probably resourceful.

That meant Klaar would have the pleasure of the hunt.

Ivan kept the knife out, but holseterd his pistol. He began to climb a tree, the donse foliage giving mild cover. He took a swig from his hipflask, and looked around. Another lizard creature was bumbling after a hapless mammal a couple of hundred metres away. Time to flip the tables...

He jumped from tree to tree, coming to ground ten to fifteen metres behind the lizard. His pistol flashed four times, and the beast fell, emmiting a pitiful roar. He had shot it twice in the head, and in its back legs. He ran for it, drawing his sword. He leapt, severing the whole head from the spine, leaving a grey trail of central nervous systems for all to see...

It may have been difficult to keep up with the Selphi at first, after all, the Selphi was almost half again as tall as Klaar, but as his hunting mode kicked into high gear, the muscles equipped for such a run loosened allowing him to stay close to his quarry at all times. Apparently this Selphi was having a bloodfest, as again he sensed the Selphi kill, but not eat or even stop long enough to make use of anything the lizard-thing might have.

Well, that didn't matter. It wouldn't last much longer.

While the Selphi was preoccupied with finishing off the lizard-thing, Klaar struck, aiming for the Selphi's side and legs - ruining one's prey's balance was essential.

Ivan was suddenly knocked by an invisible force. He hit the tree, the wood splintering. He rose, and swept the area. There seemed to be a ghost of a wolflike figure. He switched through other sights, before coming to UV. A wolf hominid came into view. He smiled, holstering his pistol, and circling the beast. This would indeed be a good fight...

Klaar's mouth watered as he flexed his muscles for the fight, moving as little as possible at first, gauging his prey with anticipation and glee. the electronic feed told him that the Selphi had put away his slugthrower, and, in the back of his mind, his instincts told him the only reason he could come up with - obviously, this guy wanted a fight, and Klaar proved promising. Well, the Defel planned on giving him his blood's worth.

With the patience of a hunter, Klaar waited for the Selphi's move with anticipation.

Ivan flexed. The creature wasn't going to strike first, so it must be up to him...

Sword out, blade held low, he charged, feinting left, right and left again, before swiping quickly for the beast's shoulder. His blade was aglow with reflected light, a bolt of lightning striking at the darkness.

His hearing could pick up the sound of a blade, the electronics sending him the information only just in time to move out of the way, landing on all fours in the prime position to pounce, which he immediately executed, again aiming for the Selphi's side, jaws open.

Damn! It moved quick!

Ivan felt the beast's jaws rake his coat, and he turned, hitting it on the nose. An old tenant Ivan had learnt from a crazy hunter ''if it come's at ye, bop it on the nose!''. That rule had never failed Ivan, and he hoped it worked now. He turned with the wolfenkin, the blade ready if that didn't work...

Klaar let out a yelp when the Selphi struck him, forcing him to let go as his nose throbbed with pain. As he pulled back, he was left vulnerable for the split second before he once more lunged forward.

In that split second, ivan had his blade pointed straight at the beast. That tiny opening had proved to be a blessing. No matter where the beast went, he would be stabbed. Maybe not fatally, but enough to grant another opening. The beast seemed too intelligent for one of the creatures of this world...

As he leapt, he felt the blade slice neatly into his arm, rather deeply, but he couldn't back off and redo anyway, he was already committed to the jump. So, he decided to make the best of it and dove straight for the Selphi's neck, batting the humanoid's sword arm away from him as he snapped his jaws in search of flesh.

Ivan tumbled backwards, holding the wolfkin's jaws with only the bare strength of his hands. He pushed his knee up into its midriff, and tried pushing the head away from his necessary jugular and carotid...

Klaar yelped when he felt the Selphi knee him in the gut. Klaar was choking a bit, as the Selphi was holding back his jaws by the Defel's neck ((I assume that's what you meant)). In retaliation, Klaar swung his claws at the Selphi's torso, hoping to weaken the humanoid's arms enough so he could finally close on that neck full of blood...

((Oops, i thought i had posted...))

Ivan gasped, feeling the claws rake his jacket, striking the mesh armour underneath. He tried to pry the jaws open more, perhaps to cause the damned thing to relent. He began to laugh. This was fun!

It seemed the Selphi was armored. How very inconvenient. Klaar shook his head in an effort to release the Selphi's grip on his jaw, as his prey had found and utilized that place in his jaws where he couldn't effectively bite him - nor could he close his jaws. That left only one offensive weapon - two if you wanted to get technical.

Klaar quit swinging and grasped the Selphi's neck with both hand-like paws, squeezing and crushing for all he was worth.
