NAR SHADDAA
"THE SMUGGLER'S MOON"
OUTER RIM TERRITORIES
nar-shaddaa-e1442695976870.jpg

The transport shuttle was beginning to land on Nar Shaddaa also known as "The Smuggler's Moon", Kyi already knew he'd hate being here. The Padawan was on assignment with the Jedi Knight Sakadi Marathi Sinvala to search for a kidnapped youngling, their search led them here. Kyi was excited to work with Sakadi, he never formerly met her until the start of this assignment - he had only seen her around the Temple during training, even then she had a reputation. He was also excited at the fact he could finally show off his skills and maybe learn a thing or two from her as well as prove himself adequate enough for Knighthood.

After the shuttle docked on the landing pad, the Knight and Padawan stepped out of the shuttle. Nar Shaddaa didn't look very appealing, although he felt the planet was teeming with life through the Force - it was a refreshing but also strange feeling. After heading further into the city, Kyi had no idea on how to track someone - he was used to small-scale missions, not ones of this calibre. The young Padawan looked toward his senior for guidance and asked "What happens now?"

A while ago, the Order had been notified of a Force sensitive child, born in slavery on Nar Kaaga, a planet ruled by the Hutt clan. In response, the Jedi Order had sent one of the more experienced Padawans to guide the child to Ifrane. Ten days ago, the Ifrane temple received message that he had been given custody of the child, with the Hutt clan's approval. That was the last they ever heard of the Padawan.

Everything that could have possibly gone wrong, had gone wrong. Five days ago, a still unknown criminal had released a holovid of the child in question, abused and bleeding. While the criminal in question didn't show his face, he gave a detailed description of how he had butchered the Padawan and demanded payment from his contractor. Otherwise he would kill the child, live on the holonet. Yeah, the Jedi Order wasn't going to let that happen. Thus, the Order had dispatched her together with a young Padawan learner. His freckled face was familliar, but they had never actually crossed paths before.

Sakadi replayed the holovid once again, taking in every detail she could. The bounty hunter was good; they had nothing to go by, no idea what he looked like, or even where he was hiding the youngling. Taking a deep breath, she focused on her connection to the Living Force. The Force was her most trusted companion, and today she would perhaps need it the most.

The lower levels of Nar Shaddaa were just as she remembered it. Filled with the stench of sweat and alcohol, garbage littered everywhere and no matter where she looked, the bodies of women were on display. She didn't come here often, but her missions as a watchman had made her quite familliar with the underworld of Nar Shaddaa, whether she liked it or not. And in turn, the underworld of Nar Shaddaa was, to an extent, familliar with her.

She glanced at the Padawan learner walking beside her. Was he ready for this? The pull to the Dark side was strong on Nar Shaddaa, and their mission would be extremely hard to complete for inexperienced Jedi. But then again, the best way to gain experience was by doing it anyway. Therefore, she would let him lead this mission, under her own strict guidance.

"What do you think should happen?" She asked him instead, curious as to what his answer would be.

Kyi was caught off guard, the Jedi Knight wanted his input? Even though he had demonstrated leadership qualities before, he was unsure of himself in this circumstance. "Oh...well I....uhh..." he began to stammer, tripping over every word. He noticed Sakadi watching him expectantly which made him more nervous, this was his chance to prove himself and he was already blowing it by showing he was unqualified for this. Kyi closed his eyes to focus, to drown out the noise of the city, and began to look inward for his answer. He inhaled and held his breath for a few short moments before finally exhaling, slowly.

"Well, I think we should head to a local cantina." he said this while adjusting his posture as he began to feel more confident in himself, "The regulars may have some information on the kidnapper." he finished his sentence with confidence. The two Jedi then made their way to the cantina, on the way there he noticed the locals were staring and looking at the two in disgust - he had a feeling they didn't like Jedi very much or the Galactic Alliance for that matter, normally Kyi would feel intimidated by this but with Sakadi there, he felt somewhat safe.

Finally, the two arrived at a shady-looking cantina and upon entering it, calling it shady was a more than adequte description. The cantina was filled with pirates and outlaws, deafening music and the stench of alcohol - it was a sensory overload. Kyi noticed the cantina patrons turned their gaze to the two Jedi threateningly, not trusting these outlaws as far as he could throw them - he gripped the lightsaber on his belt, just in case.

Sakadi crossed her arms as she listened to the stammering Padawan. It was not that she asked for his opinion purely for her own amusement. No, she wanted him to be as ready as he could be, for there would come a day when he would have to bring missions like this to a good ending on his own. A smile played about her lips as he closed his eyes. Instead of responding with "I don't know", he stayed calm and patiently presented an answer to her. With a nod and a small gesture, Sakadi allowed him to lead the way.

With their hoods pulled up, the two Jedi moved through the lower levels, searching for the nearest shady-looking cantina. With their hoods up, it was hard to tell that the two strangers were Jedi. Of course, the locals gave them foul looks, but they gave any stranger who passed by such a look. From experience, the Knightess knew that they'd be safe if they just minded their own business. Besides, those unfortunate souls who dared stop the two Jedi would find out why Sakadi had been given the nickname ' The Purple Devil' the hard way.

As they entered a shady cantina named "The Red Twi'lek", Sakadi immediately recognized the scent of spice, paired with the heavy smell of alcohol. It reminded her of her past, and not in a good way. What also didn't go unnoticed to the Knightess, was the tension in the air as they entered. Especially the reactions of the young Jedi beside her. At ease, Sakadi placed her hand on his shoulder.

"Remember, as a Jedi you only draw your lightsaber as a last resort. If you are forced to use it, you've already lost." She conveyed with a kind tone. She didn't want him to feel bad; as a Padawan she made the mistake many times herself. But she had grown past that stadium.

Sakadi pulled her hood back, revealing her face to the few who's attention the newcomers had caught. She had an unfair advantage over most others; the Knightess was absolutely gorgeous. It was as much a disadvantage as an advantage; for it often attracted unwanted attention. In this case, however, her appearance quickly changed the attitude of the patrons. Their threatening stares had changed to gleeful smirks paired with whistles, which got lost in the deafening music. After a short while, the cantina patrons returned to whatever they were doing, keeping her in the corner of their eyes.

"I've caught their attention. I suggest we split up for now, I'll keep them distracted while you gather information. Oh, by the way, if you come across any objects you believe could be related to our mission, then show them to me." With that clear, Sakadi disappeared into the crowd.

With Kyi's grip on his lightsaber firm, he felt a tender hand on his shoulder. It was Sakadi, "Remember, as a Jedi you only draw your lightsaber as a last resort. If you are forced to use it, you've already lost." the Knightess advised, she was absolutely right. Kyi loosened his grip and removed his hand away from his lightsaber and covered it with his cloak, Kyi had a reputation for being impatient and impulsive, ask anyone he's worked with. If Kyi was to become a Knight, he would have to control his impulses and besides, holding his lightsaber as he did was an invitation to a fight. Kyi pulled his hood down shortly after Sakadi did and he noticed the attention she garnered from the male patrons and could sense their interest in the Sephi through the Force - disgusting, he thought, have some respect. Although, he couldn't deny the fact that she was attractive.

Sakadi went on to instruct Kyi to gather information while she kept the cantina patrons distracted to which he complied. Kyi wondered the cantina, searching for anything or anyone that could give him any information. The freckle-faced Padawan then noticed a shadow-like figure in the corner of the cantina, drinking alcohol and staring intently at a deathstick they were holding, Kyi began to approach the shady figure and sat at the table opposite. "Whaddya want?" the shady figure asked in a gruff feminine voice, still hidden in the shadow. Kyi adjusted his posture and asserted himself "My name is Kyi Wavestrider and I'm looking for some information" he asked while deepening his voice to sound intimidated, the shady woman wasn't buying it. "If it's information you're wanting, it'll cost ya." she demanded, Kyi rolled his eyes, he didn't have time for this - so, he waved his hand in a circular motion "You will provide me with information. Free of charge." he snapped back, attempting to perform a Jedi Mind Trick - but to no avail, she just continued with her demands.

Kyi, defeated, reluctantly provided fifty credits for the information. The shady figure moved her face out of the shadows revealing a scarred eye and grinned at the young Padawan,
"Pleasure doing business." she said in a condescending tone, "What'd you like to know?" she asked. Kyi then provided the holovid of the bounty hunter's ransom, "Do you recognise this voice?" he asked. The shady patron took a moment, she did recognise him but she was trying to recollect from where, "Wait, I do know that voice." she paused, just to make sure if she was thinking about the right person, "Yeah, I've done business with him. Never seen his face but he leaves his calling card whenever he completes a bounty." she says this as she reaches through her pocket to provide the calling card to the Padawan. Finally! A lead. Although, Kyi gave the calling card a look over - it had no name, just an address.

It didn't matter, it was a lead.

Gracefully moving through the crowd, Sakadi shadowed the young Padawan. Anyone who seemed alerted by his presence, quickly stumbled upon her, diverting their attention from the Padawan to the Knight. Somehow she had also managed to get her hands on some sort of beverage, which made her fit in even better. All that she lacked were scars and tattoos, but her lack thereof worked to her advantage.

Eventually, when no one seemed to be watching Kyi anymore, Sakadi slipped back into the crowd again, this time to gather information on her own.

Taking a deep breath as she summoned the Force, Sakadi focused on projecting the holovid to the conscious minds around her. Her projection was subtle; so subtle that it would go virtually unnoticed to those who knew nothing about the holovid. Those who had seen the holovid however, would most likely respond, as conscious minds often did. It was an advanced telepathy technique and while Sakadi's technique wasn't flawless, but it would serve it's purpose. Neither did she like probing the minds of others, although this was an emergency.

After a couple of minutes without response, the Knightess gave up. The men and women around her were either too drunk or high to focus, or they knew nothing. Hoping that her fellow Jedi had more luck, Sakadi placed the beverage on a random table before moving back to the exit. She'd wait for him there.

Kyi left the table he was talking to the female patron on, he strolled through the cantina - staring intensely at the calling card. This bounty hunter was good, keeping his identity completely anonymous, Kyi wondered if this address was even the correct way of finding him. Kyi finally averted his gaze from the calling card and began searching for Sakadi, maybe she knew what to do with this information. He finally found her waiting for him at the exit, Kyi approached the Sephi still holding the calling card.

When Sakadi noticed Kyi approaching, the two exited the cantina together. The neon lights of the underworld was a jarring change from the dark and cramped cantina, the smell wasn't any better either - usually Kyi enjoys getting away from the Temple and getting the chance to explore the galaxy but Nar Shaddaa was not it, he'd rather be back home right now.

Kyi looked at the calling card once more and then looked at Sakadi, he handed the calling card over to her "I managed to get this." he said, "Cost me fifty credits though" he said regretfully. He watched Sakadi analyse the card, "It only had an address on it, no name, nothing. I'm not even sure if it's real. Kyi added, he hoped that Sakadi could do something because he was all out of ideas.

Accepting the calling card, Sakadi analyzed the front and back. It had an adress on it. Nar Shaddaa... upper levels? Did the bounty hunter really have enough wealth to afford a penthouse? Even if he did, she doubted they'd find him there. If his calling card was so easily accessible, he would be ready for intruders or revenge-driven family members of the victims. The penthouse was probably one big deathtrap. There was only one way to confirm that though.

Handing the calling card back to Kyi, she noticed how the Padawan seemed to be at a loss, just as they got the lead they were looking for. To help him out a little, Sakadi started conveying messages again.

"Tell me, why did we travel to Nar Shaddaa of all places?" she asked him. They had a solid reason to be here; if a mercenary wanted to hide, he'd do so in a place where he wouldn't stand out. The planet closest to Nar Kaaga that would allow him to hide stay hidden from galactic powers such as the Alliance, was Nar Shaddaa. That's why they had traveled here to begin with. And Sakadi had no doubts that he'd still be on the planet.

"There is only one thing we can do now. One step we can take. We'll go pay him a visit."

"Tell me, why did we travel to Nar Shaddaa of all places?" the Sephi queried. Kye raised his eyebrow at this question, was this some sort of test? He didn't have a chance to answer before she continued, "There is only one thing we can do now. One step we can take. We'll go pay him a visit." it made the most sense to do this Kyi though, although he couldn't shake the feeling that something was off about going to the address. However, he'd keep his insecurities to himself and would follow Sakadi toward the Upper Levels.

After finally arriving in the Upper Levels, he wasn't surprised to see that it looked much better and cleaner than the Lower Levels - however, that didn't change the fact it was infested with outlaws - they were still criminals but just more rich. Kyi pulled up his hood once more and followed Sakadi in the direction of the penthouse, he could tell she knew her way around Nar Shadda - it was the way she carried herself with such confidence, so he knew it was best to just stay behind and let her lead the way.

Sakadi finally stopped outside a large building, this must have been the penthouse. Kyi figured that the bounty hunter wouldn't be home as he - you know, was holding someone hostage. This would be a good time to investigate his home to find some leads but how would they get inside? He had a feeling of how but he didn't like it, Kyi looked to the Knightess for more guidance.

"Master Sinvala--Knight Sinvala--S-Sakadi?" Kyi stammered as he wasn't sure of the appropriate way to address his senior Jedi, "We're going to have to sneak in aren't we?"

This was the place, the penthouse they were looking for. It looked invited, with little to no unorthodox measures taken to keep unwanted people out. In fact, the lack of defensive measures made the Sephi frown. She was under the impression that the penthouse would be some sort of fortress, given the kind of audience the bounty hunter gave his adress to.

Sakadi had to suppress a silent chuckle when Kyi tried to adress her. "Sakadi is fine. Although if you prefer the formalities, it would be Knight Sinvala." Sakadi turned to the penthouse in front of them again. "And no, we are not sneaking in. Chances are that whatever is in there, is going to cause a ruckus anyway."

Confidently, the Knightess moved forward, until they approach a large metal door which formed the entrance to the building. The building contained atleast 20 smaller apartments, from what she could gather. With a mischievous smirk, she moved over to the entry intercom. With three quick swipes, Sakadi pressed all the buttons. Surely someone would open the door.

With a loud buzz, the door unlocked, sliding open. Well that worked, the Knightess thought, as they could finally move into the building.

Kyi made a double-take, it was that easy? He shrugged his shoulders upon the door opening, he was relieved it was that easy - sneaking in wasn't an ideal situation for him. The Padawan and the Knightess entered the building, the lobby was big and glamorous - it made sense, this was rich folk town, of course it would be big and fancy. Kyi went on to summon the lift, he looked for the correct address on the panel inside and after finding it, he pushed the button gently and the lift began taking the two upward to the top floor.

As the elevator was making its way to the penthouse, Kyi leaned against the wall and exhaled; the young Padawan had a lot on his mind - this assignment wasn't helping his already stressed mind. The elevator finally made it to the top floor, making a ding noise to notify the two Jedi and the doors slid open. Kyi and Sakadi stepped out of the elevator, the penthouse was at the end of a long hallway. Kyi took the lead and made his way toward the end of the hallway, he attempted to press the panel on the side of the door to the penthouse and get it to open but of course it wasn't that easy - it was locked. The bounty hunter was stupid enough to live in an apartment complex with no security but cautious enough to lock the entrance to his apartment. Go figure.

Kyi realised using a lightsaber to enter would be too messy but he didn't have any skills to slice the door open. He hung his head down in defeat and sighed, he turned to the Knightess and asked "Any good at slicing?"

She patiently waited until the elevator reached the penthouse. The attitude of the Padawan learner, however, was something that concerned her a little. "Are you alright? You seem tired." Sakadi's mental voice contained genuine worry. Normally she preferred to be distant, not meddling in the affairs and problems of others, but Padawans were the exception. Mostly because she had doubted herself a lot during her time as a Padawan, and there were very few people she had been able to talk to.

When they reached the door, Kyi pointed out that the door was locked. When Kyi asked her whether she was good at slicing, Sakadi shrugged. "Don't know. I've never tried it." she conveyed, while she reached for her lightsaber. Well, her lightsaber... the kyber crystal didn't exactly agree with that yet. Having stolen the weapon from a Sith Lord a while ago, meant that she and the crystal had a lot of trouble cooperating. Every time she touched the tool, it felt ice cold and almost felt unresponsive.

Sakadi winked at Kyi as she ignited the red-bladed lightsaber. With a swift motion, the Knightess cut a square in the door for them to enter through. As she stepped inside though, no alarm went off. It seemed like a normal apartment, which was quite odd. Extinguishing the red blade, Sakadi analysed the living room before her.

"Strange.. are you sure that your lead is trustworthy?"

A red lightsaber? What was a Jedi doing with a red lightsaber? Sakadi became more and more interesting to the young Padawan, he made a mental note to ask her about that story later. The two stepped through the hole she had cut and were surprised to see an empty house, "Strange.. are you sure that your lead is trustworthy?" Sakadi asked, "Not in the slightest." he responded but it was their only lead, even if it was a cold one. Kyi placed his hands on his hips and looked to the ground in deep thought, he put forth the idea that maybe this bounty hunter was really lousy with security - but it was just wishful thinking. The only way to find out was to look for clues.

"Maybe we should split up and look around?" suggested Kyi. Kyi and Sakadi then separated and began their search, he searched multiple rooms and found nothing of interest until he finally came across an office. It was a decent sized office with everything you would find in a traditional office, he searched at the desk which was in front of a large window overlooking the city and found stacks of paper in the draw - alongside loose credits. Kyi began reading through these papers, they were bounty contracts, this bounty hunter must have only taken physical contracts.

Kyi searched frantically for a contract regarding the missing Padawan - nothing. The Padawan slammed his fist on the desk, they were getting nowhere! Each moment they wasted was time lost in rescuing the Padawan, Kyi activated his lightsaber on impulse - he wanted to destroy the office, he was so angry, then he remembered that anger leads to the Dark Side and so he deactivated his lightsaber.

Kyi returned to meet Sakadi, rage still swelling in his chest.
"Nothing." he said coldly, "I found bounty contracts but not the one we're looking for."

Their lead wasn't trustworthy. But nevertheless, Sakadi believed this to be the place. Not the place where the bounty hunter lived, or where he had hidden the youngling, but the place where he met his contractors. The fact that it was so easy to reach this place, however, worried her. There were no traps, no defense systems, not even an armory for as far as she knew.

Approving of Kyi's suggestion, the Knightess ascended the stairs that led her to a short hallway. Assuming this to be the bounty hunters private quarters, Sakadi slowly strolled through the hall, checking every room she stumbled upon. None contained anything of value though, for most were empty. Until she reached the final room on her left. The Force cried out a warning to her, just as she prepared to open the door. She hesitated for a moment; was this it?

Sakadi placed the palm of her hand against the door's control panel, careful as to not accidentally open the door. Drawing upon her connection to the Force, Sakadi directed the energy of the Force to flow through the panel, returning to her with information.

The information she received supported the warning of the Force. Someone had meddled with the control panel of the door. She could not tell what he had changed, but she suspected it to be a trap. Just as she prepared to spring the trap, Kyi returned. She could feel his anger, both through the Force and through his cold statement. She looked him up and down as her voice would echo through his head.

"Calm down. Getting angry over failure won't help you in the long run. Besides, I've found something interesting. Our friend has meddled with the door."

Relief filled Kyi's body, it wasn't a cold lead after all but he did feel embarrassed over letting his anger get the better of him and even more so for allowing Sakadi to notice it, "I'm sorry Knight Sinvala...I won't let it happen again.". Sakadi mentioned that the door had been meddled with, he wasn't as in-tune with the Force to have noticed or felt any signs of foul play - this is why she was a Jedi Knight and he wasn't. Kyi then watched as Sakadi proceeded to spring the trap with the control panel, it was safe to enter now. Sakadi entered with Kyi following close behind like a kath hound pup, this was the bounty hunter's private quarters. It was a dark, noticeably lived-in room that reeked of spice and alcohol - what a way to live, Kyi thought to himself sarcastically.

The two then exchanged a knowing look to each other and spread out to search the bounty hunter's private quarters. While on his search, Kyi began thinking this was a perfect opportunity for him to get to know Sakadi better "So, what's the story with the red lightsaber? Is it yours?" he asked, eager to hear an exciting Jedi Knight's tale - Kyi always loved stories.

"You don't have to apologize. As long as you don't let your emotions guide you, you'll be fine." she exclaimed, as she did her best to spring the trap. After she believed to have disabled whatever would have been activated, Sakadi dared to open the door.

As she stepped inside, she faced what would've been the death of them. A couple of thermal detonators, wired to the door. It was a simple trap, but that didn't make it any less effective.

The room in question was more like what she expected from a bounty hunter who dared to cross the Jedi Order. Someone who apparently had nothing to lose, which was clearly reflected in his room. The disgusting smell of deathsticks nearly made her flinch. Did it hurt that much to clean you room once in a while?

As she searched the room for any possible clues, Kyi made his curiosity for the story behind her saber known. It was to be expected, a Jedi using a lightsaber was more uncommon than an eclipse on Mustafar.

"It is mine now. Had to change up the hilt a little to actually make it wieldable." she began, while she continued her search for useful leads. "I claimed it after my own lightsaber got destroyed in the battle for Tython. It isn't the only memento I have from my duel with a Sith Lord, the other was a lightsaber through my side. To be honest, I'm surprised that I even survived that encounter, despite it having ended in a stalemate." The Knightess would never forget what that secluded battle had been like, holding off two Sith at once until her ally had dealt with the artillery.

"And you? Got any field experience so far?" she asked him after a short pause.

He was shocked to hear this, Kyi remembered desperately wanting to be apart of the Battle of Tython, wanting to help his fellow Jedi, but he was deemed not ready enough by the Jedi Council - he could see why now, his lightsaber prowess was not up to standard yet and he would have certainly died. Kyi was both impressed and sympathetic, impressed that the Knightess handled not one but two Sith on her own and sympathetic to the fact that Sakadi was greatly injured in the battle, although he was glad she was okay. Kyi continued searching through the bounty hunter's belongings during this conversation.

Sakadi then went on to ask the Padawan of his field experience, Kyi was slightly embarrassed - he hadn't really had much experience aside from solving an issue regarding bandits on Dantooine. He went on to tell the story anyway, "I haven't had much experience, I wasn't allowed to take part in the battle on Tython." he said with a hint of disappointment in his voice, "The only experience I've had so far is that me and Padawan Kye Guu'kran fought some bandits and saved some farmers on Dantooine." Kyi then looked at his arm, "I got shot too. It was just a graze though, no permanent damage thankfully." he brushed off.

Kyi continued rummaging through the bounty hunter's room,
"Been looking for ways to improve my abilities, Force or lightsaber-wise to make sure it doesn't--" he paused mid-sentence. He found a holoprojector in a draw, Kyi attempted to activate it only for it to reveal a distorted hologram, the stupid thing was encrypted. Blast it, he thought. Kyi turned toward Sakadi holding the holoprojector in his hand, "Knight Sinvali! I found a holoprojector but it's encrypted." he stated, shaking the holoprojector slightly.

Kye and Kyi, that was funny. Must've been quite difficult to remember who's who. Sakadi thought. She was glad to know that the Council hadn't allowed the younger Padawans to join in the battle of Tython. The battle had turned into such a mess and an overall loss. They truly hadn't gained anything from that attempt.

His experience out in the field was still low, which the Knightess considered to be a good thing. It was important to gradually build experience, instead of immediately jumping into the frey. As he explained to her that he was still trying to perfect his Force abilities and prowess with the lightsaber, he found something of importance. An encrypted holoprojector.

"Don't think he has the password lying around here anywhere." She exclaimed without worry. The holoprojector was encrypted, which meant that he had to enter the password whenever he needed the thing. Little did he know he was dealing with Jedi.

"Can you hand me the holoprojector please?" she asked with an outstretched hand. If Kyi would give her the holoprojector, Sakadi would summon the Force again, directing it to flow through the device. As the Force vibrated through the holoprojector and returned to Sakadi, the Knightess received a vision of a man, typing a simple code.

Handing the holoprojector back to Kyi, Sakadi conveyed yet another message. "Try 4546467".

Confused, what he thought was a random guess turned out to be completely right - Kyi entered the code into the holoprojector and a hologram of a Hutt emerged from it, how did she do that? he asked himself. The Hutt was speaking Huttese, naturally, Kyi had a basic understanding of the language from his language classes at the Jedi Temple, what Kyi could make out from what the Hutt was saying after the hologram ended were along the lines of: the Hutt offering to pay the bounty hunter if he kidnaps both the Force-sensitive child and the Padawan, and returns them to him. The Hutt continued on stating that his involvement in this must not be known as the Hutt didn't want the Galactic Alliance on his head. "The bounty hunter must have double-crossed the Hutt and demanded more money. When the Hutt didn't comply, he murdered the Padawan and tortured the Force-sensitive child." he deduced and explained to Sakadi.

Now what? he wondered, they had context behind the kidnapping but they still had no way of finding him. Kyi looked at the ground and trailed off in his thoughts, thinking of ways on how to figure out where the bounty hunter was hiding but something came back to him, Sakadi figuring out the code out of thin air., how did she do that and how could he learn it? He looked up to her and asked, "Hey...how did you do that thing earlier? You completely figured out the code on your own and can we use that to find the bounty hunter?"

Kyi's deduction seemed plausible; but she didn't believe the bounty hunter would've double crossed the Hutt. Rather, she expected that the initial reward had been too low. When the bounty hunter engaged the Padawan, he had stumbled upon more resistance than he had thought. Seeing no way out but to kill the Padawan, he messaged the Hutt to increase his reward for his increased expenses and the general danger of the mission. Not to mention the fact that the Jedi Order would come after him. But the Hutt, as greedy as she expected him to be, had refused, which led to their current messy situation. Her Huttese wasn't the best either, but the Hutt's message was too one-sided and it only gave them the perspective of the Hutt, and not the perspective of the bounty hunter.

Lost in thought, as she tried to piece together what events happened when and in what order, Kyi asked her how she had found the right code in one guess. "Wha.. Oh, the code.. It's a passive technique known as Psychometry. It'll allow you to acquire information though physical contact with objects." she explained. "Here, try it." she conveyed, as she grabbed his hand and gently placed it on the holoprojector.

"Open your mind to the Living Force and focus on the holoprojector. Do you feel the Force vibrating through the metal? That is the echo left behind by the bounty hunter." Sakadi hesitated for a moment. While Psychometry seemed harmless, the technique could actually be dangerous, especially to this Padawan, who had trouble controlling some of his emotions. "If you allow the Force to flow through it, you'll come in contact with the echo. Depending on your proficiency, it'll grant you to hear, see and sense the emotions of the one who previously utilized the tool."
