Tycho Berand, Commander, Ord Tindell Navy
Age 28

19 Years Before Current Events

Commander Tycho Berand once again took another deep breath as he once again checked over his equipment. It wasn't every day that you would be killing a Jedi and he was nervous. He looked over the faces of his subordinates in the speeder with him. The majority of them were only slightly younger then he was. Enlisted special forces who wouldn't question why they were here, only follow the orders and trusted in the commands he would give them. They weren't dressed in the uniform of anyone, wearing simple gray robes that would hide their weapons until the time was right to strike. A communication came in through the ear bud he wore. "Target is on the move. Seems he got the tip." Tycho looked at his sniper and nodded. It was time to get into position. The woman left the speeder, moving to their pre-arranged position. He looked around at the rest of the squad, he wasn't good at giving speeches, he wasn't even sure he was ready to lead these men into a fight.

"Alright, listen up. The target is Jedi Master Andvak. Recently he uncovered evidence of one of our..." He struggled to find the word he was looking for. They weren't cleared to know about his botched operation to assassinate a senator, he wasn't even sure some of the people he reported to even knew. "It doesn't matter what he uncovered. The fact is he is a threat to Ord Tindell. Sergeant Jado will be our eyes on the operation. Corporal Sabe will provide sniper fire. While the Jedi is busy dodging her, we'll move in. Intelligence believes that the Jedi will know something is wrong, be prepared for a fight. Keep him pinned with blaster fire, watch out for him deflecting fire. Private Lodak and I will move in with the flamethrowers. Supposedly a squad of sector rangers is accompanying him. Local law enforcement should be busy with an arranged incident fifteen minutes away. If they get in the way they die." He looked at his troops and nodded. "Lets move out."

Tycho opened the door to the speeder and raised his hood, for once it was raining on the planet. His squad followed shortly behind him, most of the locals gave them a wide berth, recognizing that something was about to go down tonight. The unfamiliar weight of the BM-3KF in his right hand altered his walk slightly, the thing was surprisingly weighty. He would have much preferred to ambush the Jedi in his X-Wing in space rather then on Coruscant of all places, but the risk of him getting away had been deemed to risky. As it was, they had settled for leaking a tip to the Sector Rangers about a potential hideout for their assassin. There would be nothing there of course, but they needed a way to ensure their target would arrive, he had supposedly seen the assassins face and that was enough to sign his death warrant.

As the team walked down the street Tycho could feel his nerves getting tense. He had never attempted to kill a Jedi before. Maybe some of his team had, he doubted it. While intelligence claimed there had been no previous attempts, but they also seemed to have a surprising amount of information and insight to the abilities of one. "Tower in position." The voice of Coporal Sabe came over their radio. Another voice from Sergeant Jado. "Copy Tower. Target just arrived. Four squishies with him, six in armor as well. Seems they don't want to leave anything to chance." Tycho cursed. They were ready for the Jedi and maybe six targets who weren't heavily armored. Sector Rangers usually didn't bring out armor that fit better in a warzone to a public place. Nevertheless they would adapt.

Tycho and his team entered a rather large sized plaza, vendors lined the edges and the building they had tipped off as a hideout sat at the far side. "Split up. Take your positions." The team broke into separate groups and stood around vendors. No longer a group they blended in with the crowd, many wearing ponchos, or holding umbrellas. He keyed his own communicator, whispering under his breath. "Hammer is in place. What's the ETA?" He looked around at the crowd. Gauging the upcoming fight as he was relayed more information. "Two minutes, he's walking faster then expected."

"Copy. Have the detonator ready. We'll await your signal."

He wandered around the edge of the plaza, he was aware to anyone actually looking for suspicious people he would stick out like a sore thumb. He was essentially standing in the open staring at the entrance looking for for his target. As soon as he was the familiar green skin of a Twi'lek he turned and keyed his communicator one more time. "Target is in play. Be ready." He tried to make it look subtle as he glanced over at some of his team mates, they were playing their roles flawlessly. Haggling over items at vendors. He was the odd one out. He turned once more to watch the Twi'lek head towards the building they had already prepared for their plan. A machine shop dealing with hazardous chemicals, some of which might explode if provided the right shove. His eyes were glued as he watched the Twi'lek begin to walk up the steps to the entrance and knock on the door, one of the Sector Rangers with them shouted something about a search warrant he assumed. Nice of them to try and maintain rights for the inhabitants. The Twi'lek stepped back from the entrance, apparently letting the Sector Rangers deal with breaching the door. The green-skinned man scanned the plaza locking eyes with him. The Jedi's eyes widened, as if he had sensed the intentions of Tycho. "Kriffing hell, drop the hammer!"

To their credit his team didn't hesitate to set off the detonator in the shop. A large explosion ripped through the building the Jedi had planned on searching, the two Sector Rangers trying to break down the door incinerated instantly as the Jedi sprung into action. He was rushing towards Tycho but his team had other ideas. Screams suddenly broke out across the plaza, as if some spell had been broken. The sound of blaster fire echoed between buildings as his team opened fire. The Jedi stopped to deflect a blaster bolt coming from above then dodge a shot taken from behind him. His men were well trained, they had prepared this exercise far in advance. Keep the Jedi pinned down, fire at him from multiple angles to avoid him being able to deflect shots towards any one man. The rest of his team focused on the Sector Rangers who were scrambling to get organized and to cover, unlike the Jedi they had been practically right up against the building ready for a fight. They were steal dealing with hearing loss and concussive blast. Four more of them dropped before they could get to cover.

Tycho brought his own blaster pistol up in his right hand while he rushed to flank the Sector Rangers. Until they were down his team wouldn't be able to focus entirely on the Jedi. For the Jedi's credit he was already causing hang ups, instead of being pinned in place as expected he began dodging and weaving his way towards one of Tychos troops. He winced as the Jedi's lightsaber decapitated the soldier. Tycho continued to move from piece of cover to piece of cover as he flanked the Sector Ranger. A clear shot allowed him to place a blaster shot into the chest of another Sector Ranger, sniper fire from up above took down another one. The remaining Sector Rangers seemed to be in a panic at their rapidly dropped numbers. The Jedi was still a threat, continuing to move in on his troops and pick them off one by one. The young Commander brought up his communicator.
"Screw it. Everyone focus on the damn Jedi. Tower keep the Sector Ranger's to busy worrying about their own lives."

His team moved like a well oiled machine. Shifting their fire to the Jedi, under the well trained assault his movements withered, unable to keep up his advance. Tycho shifted out of cover and approached slowly, flamethrower at the ready. Lodak with his circled around to the Jedi's back, moving in on the Jedi's blind spot. He leaned to the right as a deflected blaster shot passed by him, proving that the Jedi remained a threat even when outnumbered. He and Lodak were close enough now to bring up their flamethrowers and fire. The Jedi raised both hands and the flames seemed to be unable to pierce a bubble that now surrounded him. Damn it, he should have been prepared for a force field. A blaster shot however pierced the shield and entered the Twi'leks back, he fell to his knees as the barrier he had established in the force failed him. The flames covered his body, igniting him. "Targets down. Lets get out of here." He checked his chronometer. The firefight had taken five minutes, they had ten to get back to their speeder and disappear. They would only need three. His team focused on the remaining Sector Rangers, now taking to much fire to even think about putting their head above their slowly withering cover. Tycho passed the corpse of the dead Jedi and fired his pistol into the head. He had to be sure.

His team took turns in a fighting retreat. Half firing at the pinned Sector Rangers and the other half retreating. Soon enough the Sector Rangers would peek above their cover to find nothing but the dead corpses of their friends and the corpse of a Jedi Master. The corpse of one of the now Jedi assassins was missing, they wouldn't be sloppy enough to leave behind something that could tie this back to Ord Tindell. As Tycho entered his speeder he keyed his own communicator. "Target confirmed dead. Exfil successful. We'll split up across the planet and make our own way back home. Only one member down." A voice came over the communicator. His own commander. "Copy. I'll start drafting up the notification to next of kin. Will they at least get to see the body?" Tycho groaned inwardly. "Negative. We'll burn the body and dump it where all the other criminals dump bodies. Hard to mask the wounds of a lightsaber." The voice picked up again almost instantly. "Understood. Do what you have to."
