Amidst Haela's disappointment that they hadn't fully succeeded at the test, they almost missed Elidan confirming that he believed they were a Force user like he was. Almost. Elidan's declaration forced the Tiefling to stop and process what they'd just done; they had moved an object with their mind, with the special power wielded by some of the galaxy's greatest heroes and worst villains. Was that their future?

Only time would tell, but for right now Haela wanted to show Elidan they could move that damned dart the whole way. "Alright then." the bounty hunter exhaled, taking another deep breath as they focused on the dart embedded in the board. "Focus, Haela. It's just like hunting, let it come to you." the Tiefling muttered to themself, "Don't force it."

Haela extended their hand once again, focusing on the dart directly ahead. They focused on that odd feeling, their sixth sense, the Force, letting it take over as the bounty hunter willed the dart to their hand. Just like on the Tiefling's first attempt it began moving slowly, only making minute motions in all directions. This time, however, Haela felt more confident. They pictured the desired outcome clearly in their head, trusting in their ability to make it a reality. After a few moments, the dart flew backwards directly into the Tiefling's hand as they opened their eyes with a shocked smile.

"I did it!!" Haela exclaimed. "That was... I don't even know how to... wow." they stuttered, staring at the dart laying in their palm. The bounty hunter turned to Elidan, clearing their throat and taking a deep breath. "Well... thank you, Jedi. I don't believe I would have ever figured that out myself." Haela said in a more neutral tone. "What do I do with this now though? Does this mean I have to join your little Order, or will it go away if I don't use it?" they asked. "Oh gods, I'm not going to turn into one of those evil guys with the red laser swords am I?"

Elidan watched in total silence while Haela made their second attempt. He was pretty sure that this time the Tiefling would be capable of moving the dart without any problem. They already showed potential to take it out of the bullseye, when the half-Annfyn had expected that it would only have shaken and fallen to the floor.

Just like in their first attempt, Elidan felt the Force slowly stir while Haela focused on the dart. The changes on it would become more evident when the Tiefling had finally reached perfect concentration. When it happened, the object started to shake and it only took a moment to fly out of the bullseye.

Then, it flew directly to their hand. Elidan smiled and nodded in appreciation. “See? I told you that more focus would make it fly all the way to your hand.” he turned to look at the bullseye. With proper training, the Tiefling would even be able to make that whole thing fly to them.

You don’t need to thank me.” Elidan said, his cheeks a bit pink. “You did it all by yourself. I only helped with some tips.” it was true. The talent with the Force was theirs, he only explained how to access it. “Well, if you want proper training, you can join the Jedi Order.” he smiled, but maintained his hopes low. The half-Annfyn wasn’t the best recruiter.

The mention of the Sith made Elidan’s smile die. “Unless you give yourself to hatred and fear, you aren’t going to become one of them.” the half-Annfyn really didn’t want to imagine Haela as a Dark Sider. “I can teach you some meditation techniques to maintain the Light Side, if you want.

Haela returned Elidan's smile, flipping the dart up and down in their hand while the Annfyn talked. The Jedi Order, the Light Side, the Dark Side; it was a lot to take in. The Tiefling had awoken that morning without any more pressing concerns than their next bounty, only to have this skinny, shy Jedi show up and completely turn their perception of their place within the galaxy upside down.

Did Haela have a place in that world? Thrust into the middle of a long history of galactic conflict, with only an inkling of what it all meant; did they have a responsibility to that path? To use the "gift" that they possessed? Haela had grown silent, apparently just staring ahead into space while they continued to flip the dart up and down in their hand. After a long couple of minutes deep in thought, the bounty hunter tossed the dart back into the board's bullseye, letting out a long sigh as their bright yellow eyes fixed on Elidan.

"This Light Side, the Dark Side... what's the difference? Who am I, in the middle of all this?" Haela asked, a hint of desperation in their voice. "I'm just a bounty hunter, a child trying to care for an ailing father. Am I the best person to help people? Am I supposed to help people because I have this Force?" The Tiefling looked into Elidan's eyes, searching his expressions for an answer.

Elidan listened to Haela’s panicked declarations and felt sympathy. Their concerns were very valid, but different from how he learned that he was Force sensitive. He had been an orphan found in an orphanage by the Jedi and trained by them since being very young.

The half-Annfyn had been taught about the duality of the Force during his entire life. He knew very well how to differentiate the Dark of the Light sides. Hell, he could feel the difference between them as much as someone could feel the difference between a hot and a cold breeze.

However, Haela was being introduced to all that for the first time. Until early in that day, they must have considered the Jedi and Sith as a bunch of sorcerers that the only difference was the color of their glowing sticks. Elidan was stupid for introducing all that to them so suddenly. He was regretting it, thinking that the ignorance should have been maintained.

You aren’t obligated to do anything that you don’t want.” he said, while putting a hand on their shoulder. “You don’t need to pursue teachings of the Force, or become a Jedi. You can be Force sensitive, but the choice of what you’ll do with it is always yours. Never allow someone else to decide it for you.

At this moment, Cyrus stirred in the bed and attracted Elidan’s attention. “I need to find a new home for him. The Great Plains Natural Preserve is close to here. I heard that they take care of pups of his species.” he said, before turning to look at Haela. “Can you give us a ride?
