The ship bay was loud, filled with the sounds of drills, hydrospnners, tools, and other machines fixing and repairing frigates and freighters that stopped by for a tune-up. James sported a tank top and a pair of khaki cargo pants which were covered in grease and engine oil as he dropped down from the ship he was working on. It was a low enough platform that he could fall without seriously getting hurt.

"Hey, Kidd, could you get me that Power-Beam Saw on the workbench over there?" Asked a short, plump, bulky bald man as he poked his head out of the maintenance shaft he was working on on a large freighter.

"Sure thing, boss," James called back up as he went to pick up the requested tool.

Tala crossed her arms, leaning back against a protruding metal beam running from floor to ceiling. The shop was hot and uncomfortable, but Tala didn't mind. They did good work, and had fixed the Fond Farewell a few times. She would have had her own mechanics do the work, but they had other things to do and didn't want to distract them with something for her personal starship. The ship in question was raised up above the floor, allowing room for the mechanics that worked on it.

James grabbed the saw and carried it over his shoulder as he made his way back to the ship. As he looked up, he noticed a young Twi'Lek lady leaned against the metal support along his path. Curious, he made his way over to her, getting a better view of her face. As he got closer, he pulled out a cigarette and lit it, taking a few drags to calm himself after working so hard.

"You look lost, miss," he said, sparking up a conversation. "Name's James Kidd," he added with the cig hanging out of his mouth as he extended his hand for her to shake.

Tala nodded, shaking the man's hand. "Tala Outlander." She releases his hand, pointing up to her ship. "Not at all. Just want to keep an eye on my ride."

"It's a fine ride. I like the engine model and the advanced coupler holdings you have installed. You must have put some serious creds into this ship," James commented.

"KIDD!!! THE SAW, YOU KARKIN' BUM!!!" The bald man barked. James flustered as he quickly rushed the tool over to him.

"Sorry, mate," he added as he made his way back over to Tala.

"You're lucky you're my best mechanic and a crazy frickin' Mando, or I'd have fired you months ago!" He barked after him.

"You're lucky no one here cares what I am, or I'd have blown your head off for announcing that."

"Whatever, Kidd," the man shot back as he got lost into the shaft once again. James chuckled.

"Sorry about that, Tala," James said as he finished his cig and stomped it out.

"Mando, eh?" She said, cocking her head. "Oh how the mighty have fallen, vode." Her time was good natured, and she chuckled. "So how'd you end up here?"

"The mighty have fallen indeed. Surprisingly enough, I landed this job shortly after I was freed from slavery. My boss and most of the crew here know my story and inheritance, so they let me off the hook when I go on Merc jobs and bounties. I was born Clan Kelborn," James explained. "Obviously, as you can hear from the boss, I'm a new clan."

"What makes you interested in the Mando in me, if you don't mind my asking?" James asked as he pulled out another cigarette and lit it. He offered her one.

She waved it away. She'd never gotten into them. "You're looking at the sole living member of Clan Outlander. We're both much older and much younger than yours."

"Lonely thing isn't it," he commented, recognizing a fellow Mandalorian. "Know of any other thriving clans in the 'verse?"

"A few." She said, smiling to herself. "I run a little group of Mandalorians."

James smirked a little, his ears buzzing with delight. It was as if he just hear news of an actual family he belonged to. He felt his heart rate pick up with excitement.

"Does this little... Group have an opening for a humble ship-mechanic and mercenary?" He asked, struggling with the right words to use through his positive hopefulness. He never expected the Mandalorians to begin to regroup within his time. He never thought his clan might be counted among the others within his life.

"Always" She said happily. "The more the merrier, I say."

James smiled, pleased with the answer he recieved. "Give me a set of coordinates, and I'll fly there when I finish your ship. I'm proud to have my Clan united with the Mandalorian's."

She nodded, taking a charcoal cylinder out and writting a set of coordinates down on a disposable sheet of flimsi. Handing it to the man, she said, "That will take you to one of our people. They'll take you to our outpost."

James took the sheet and slipped it in his pocket, and then put out his cigarette. "I'll be there. If you need, I'm good with hand-to-hand, and I was taught a Jedi lightsaber technique, so I could teach some of our own how to hold their own against the wizards," he offered. "Ever heard of a martial arts called Telas Kasi?"

"Once. Don't really know anything about it though." Tala said, motioning for him to continue.

"It's a fighting style designed specifically to fight against Jedi. Helps build up speed, study force powers and movements, and offers men and women like us a chance against gods like them," James explained. "That, coupled with a lightsaber form and marksmen skills would make a force nearly unstoppable."

"Sounds interesting." Tala said, nodding. "We could definitely start setting up martial arts classes for our trainees."

"I'd be happy to serve," James confirmed. Before he could say anything else, the boss walked up beside him, a head or two shorter than Tala.

"Your ship's tuned up and ready to go, miss. I know that the flat rate around here's ten-thousand credits, but we'll cut the price for ya since you know James. Five-thousand flat. Tax-rates included," he said. "And you're off for the day, Kidd."

"Well... About that..." James started slowly.

"What, you leavin' us? I mean, hey, if the gods are pullin' you elsewhere. Just don't forget about us here when you get that karkin' shipyard built," he said before walking away. James sighed in relief.

Tala pulled out a credit chit, handing it to the man. "Ten thousand and change. You do good work."

The ramp of the Fond Farewell extended down as the ship sat down onto its struts. "Looking forward to seeing you, Kidd."
