House Vandron

And the greater Senex Juvex Kingdom

OOC Statement: This faction request is to set the stage for my character in his quest to become the defacto Noble leader of the Senex-Juvex system. It is my intention to work this character, Silas Vandron, from the ground up from young noble youth, to seasoned leader. However, I would like to be instrumental in creating the lore and background for the Senex-Juvex system that my character will inherit and I will spend most of my time devoted too. It is my intention to create a fiercely independent Kingdom, made up of various feudal houses of slavers/warriors and merchants who value their cultural independence and freedom. I hope to create a rich and vivid backdrop that can make the Senex-Juvex system a unique RP destination for members of all factions. As a hopefully neutral power, they can subtly resist the empire while at the same time, hunt down jedi in their territory because of the pressure of the Sith. This could be the Istanbul of the Cold War, a independent region were proxy battles and spying occurs.

Silas will eventually be the patriarch of a single house, one of many.

The Noble History of House Vardon and the Senex-Juvex System: House Vandron has historically been declared as "first amongst equals" of the Ancient House who rule the Senex and Juvex's feudal territories. House Vandron stands as the oldest and most noble of the Houses, and was named for the founder of the Senex-Juvex System. The Founder was a human lord named Thull Vandron who was amongst the legions of migrants that spread across the galaxy in the wake of the Ruusan Reformations. After Thull and the other nobles settled the system, a small conflict broke out known as the Crimson war. The aftermath left House Vandron and the other ancient houses with established feudal kingdoms.

The home world of House Vandron is the planet Karfeddion, a rich and bountiful world and center of Agriculture for the Kingdom. They also share the planet Asmeru with House Elegin. With strong marriage alliances, the Vandrons and Elegin Households peacefully coexisted on Asmeru and to this day remain amongst the strongest of the inter house alliances. As of 33 BBY, it was ruled by Lord Crueya Vandron and his wife Lady Theala. House Vandron while often at odds with it's neighboring noble families, maintained the fierce independence and cultural superiority that allowed the noble houses to band together to maintain their sovereignty.

The system was self-supporting, but desired open trade with the Republic and at the Fourth Nantama Synod (A convocation of the noble houses to make executive rulings for the entire System), the Houses decided to make peace with the Republic. They tried to establish commercial links with Republic mega-corporations, but the Galactic Senate stopped this, due to the widespread use of slavery in the Senex sector. It gained the right to trade after aiding the Republic in cracking down on the Nebula Front, which was based on the Senex planet Asmeru. It was during the nebula front campaign that House Vandron earned even greater prestige, leading the Senex-Juvex forces to smash the enemy hidden on their home world.

It was not until several years before the fabled Clone Wars that House Vandron finally bent the knee and agreed to join the Galactic Republic. Under the Empire, Crueya Vandron became the founder of COMPNOR; but his daughter, also called Theala Vandron, had succeeded to the title by 12 ABY. During the reign of Emperor Palpatine, House Vandron owned a sizable naval fleet, containing Tikiar fighters and Dreadnaught cruisers. House Vandron sustained itself by selling its agricultural produce, breeding and selling the Human and Ossan slaves that worked said agriculture, and using its fleet for extortion and piracy. It was due in no small part to the influence and peacemaking of House Vandron through appeasement to the Empire that allowed the Senex-Juvex system to maintain it's independence. Only a small tolkein Imperial garrison was stationed on the system capital. A member of House Vandron was at one point about to engage in a marriage with Tia Organa, but the proposed alliance was broken off following a scandal. In 12 ABY, they were key backers of Roganda Ismaren's attempt to set her son Irek up as Emperor.

With the death of Emperor Palpatine and the chaos that followed, House Vandron declared their independence in concert with the other noble families, they quickly expelled the Imperial garrison, secured their borders and operated independently from the Imperial Remnant and New Republic. House Vandron continued their glorious legacy of prosperous leadership until the entire galaxy suffered in the brutal attacks of the Yuuzhan Vong. The Senex-Juvex picket lines were breached and the 1,450th Natama Synod called for a unified response. The fighting with the Vong sapped the System of resources and men. Fighting from planet to planet, it took decades for Senex-Juvex to recover. They were isolationist and remained independent during the post-vong years and the chaos of Darth Caedus' reign. The Senex0Juvex closed it's borders to preserve in the words of Myles Vandron "...Our glorious and superior culture from the savages and barbarians around us..." and turned inward to rebuild.

During the era of the Galactic Alliance, the Senex-Juvex kingdom, while damaged by the Vong, opted out of the Jedi's plan to allow Vong shapers to restore poisoned worlds. It is unknown, yet highly suspected that a number of Houses, including House Vandron were under the influence of One Sith agents and secret negotiations took place to ensure their sovereignty in exchange for One Sith access to hyperspace routes through the Kingdom. Throughout the ensuing Second Galactic Civil War and the fall of the Galactic Alliance, Noble Navies cautiously patrolled the system borders and shot indiscriminately at any Imperial or Alliance ship that encroached.

House Vandron bent the knee to Darth Krayt and pledged fealty to the Sith Lord and Emperor of the Galaxy. The Senex-Juvex kingdom benefitted from a new rise in the slave trade that Darth Krayt made legal once more. However tensions began to rise as Sith agents began to be uncovered working within the bureacracy of the Noble families and several small battles were fought against the Houses that were believed to be to far under the sway of the Sith. If not for the emergence of Cade Skywalker and Emperor Roan Fel, perhaps Darth Krayt would have delivered a more concerted response to the Kingdom's burgeoning defiance.

The Senex-Juvex Kingdom called the 212th Natama Synod to unite the Houses to fight against the Sith. The tide was already beginning to shift in favor of the Imperial/Alliance Remnant and the genocide on Dac was a horrifying wake up call. United, the Houses ejected the Sith presence from their system and once again restored their independence from any influence but their own.

In the years afterwards they were amongst the more paranoid institutions in the galaxy when it came to the threat of sith infiltrators. Due to their experience in expelling sith infiltrators years before they did their best to keep their borders relatively closed and only trusting those of impeccable bloodline to serve the Noble Houses. This was to their benefit when the Sith revealed themselves and once again played upon the inherent expansionist sentiment of the Empire.

As the war progressed, the Kingdom remained safe from the warring in the North. Taking advantage of the lack of interest in the Southern half of the Galaxy, the noble houses such as Vandron began to work to spread their influence amidst the chaos. As the Sith expansion seeemd to be drawing to a close, diplomatic envoys from the Kingdom and Imperium met to discuss the neutrality of th Noble Houses.

For now the Kingdom remains far away from the Sith frontier and threat of invasion.

"That's practically a little Empire itself these days - the Garonnin family and the Vandrons and their kind always wanted it to be."
―Mara Jade, 12 ABY

Territory:
-Karfeddion, the home of House Vandron and capital of the fiefdom. It was a large, bountiful world, rich with fertile land for agriculture, temperate climate and mineral resources. Large plantations span the planet, feeding the Senex-Juvex Kingdom. (Only planet under Vandron influence)

-Hutlar, a cold dim world, home of the Senex-Juvex Kingdom's elite warrior species, the Hutlars. It is a fortress world and military training base.

-Massubir III, The home of the Noble House Araba, it is a massive industrial planet, center of the Kingdom's industrial production.

-Yetoom Na Uun, the center of the infamous Senex-Juvex slave trade.

-Neelanon, the 'official' capital of the Senex-Juvex Kingdom, a neutral world not controlled by any one house. Its purpose as capital is limited due to the decentralized power of the Houses. It is host to the Nantama Synod.

Politics: The Senex-Juvex System is an independent Intergalactic power made up of several smaller fiefdoms ruled over by a dozen or so Noble families of various power. Officially a confederation, each Noble house is responsible for the governance, protection and maintenance of their planetary territory/territories. While separate fiefdoms with various independent military and trade alliances, the Noble families are united by the call of the Natama Synod, a historical occurrence where each Noble family leader meets in conference to establish foreign policy and call for unity against existential threats.

Relations between Noble Houses are maintained through intricate layers of deceit, diplomacy and intrigue. While there is no de-facto leader of the Kingdom, there is often a "first amongst equals" a Lord, typically a Vandron, who holds enough influence and commands enough power to compel cooperation and enforcement of rulings. Noble Houses, while headed by a Patriarch, are staffed by permanent staff of politicians, diplomats, financiers and officers. A universal system of merit-based tests for bureaucratic and military positions are held many times during the galactic year that supplies the ruling families with skilled bureaucrats.

Culture: Between bouts of isolationism and ideas of cultural supremacy, the Senex-Juvex system remains a distinctly unique region of the galaxy. Perhaps most famous for their Noble families and traditional customs, the Senex-Juvex system remains intensely proud of its culture. Founded by rich lords of the inner rim, the Senex-Juvex system was divided into many planetary and interplanetary fiefdoms. Another defining characteristic is the merit-based bureaucratic tests and citizen's belief and dedication to the idea of civil responsibility in service to the Noble family. (Think Confucianism here).

They are infamously known for their continued practice of Slave trading. The slaves are raided and are used for households, agriculture, military and trade purposes. They have a mando-esque belief in survival of the fittest and culturally justify slavery in those terms. They are not xenophobic as there are a few Noble families of alien species and the population within Senex-Juvex is daily diverse, they do have a severe sense of cultural superiority to those outside of the Kingdom. The people believe that they are still of the fine stock and heritage of the old lords of the galaxy. A slave may win himself/herself freedom and earn citizenship through service to their Noble Lord. Easiest way to become a citizen is to serve in the military of the various houses.

Fifth_alsakan_conflict.jpg

Military: The military of the Senex-Juvex Kingdom is pulled from the guardsmen and standing ground and naval forces of the Noble Houses. All citizens of Senex-Juvex are expected to have basic training in military camps across the planet. Mandatory training is offered several times a year and military competency tests are administered. The tests include both physical and mental assessments and recommendations for training to maintain readiness. So many resources can be spared for mass training of citizens because of the use of slaves. In times of crisis a feudal tradition that has survived is a citizen's ability to buy one's way out of military service, buy paying for the freedom of a slave. Nobles can also offer citizenship to thousands of slaves at a time to quickly increase the pool of soldiers.

Hutlar is the most militarily important world to the Senex-Juvex Kingdom. The native population, the Hutlars, have a long history of service to the military. Their species is tough and warlike. The Hutlarians are typically found in the elite guardsmen units.

The navies of most of the Noble Houses' navies are comprised of sleek and powerful corvettes which are the mainstay of the Senex-Juvex fleets. They serve a two fold purpose of quickly intercepting raiders and well as being the command ships for slaver raids. The largest ships in the fleet are frigates who typically guard key hyperspace routes or home worlds of the Noble families. The Senex-Juvex navy has been nerfed by treaties with the Imperium that have in the past, limited their warship capacity in exchange for autonomy. The Noble families responded by focusing naval efforts on Starfighter and Bomber squadrons that are hyperspace capable to respond quickly to crisis and use overwhelming force to destroy larger enemy warships.

The armies of the Noble families are led by the Noble Guardsmen, the elite guards tasked with protecting the Noble Family. The status of Guardsmen apply to both the ground, as well as mechanized and repulser vehicle units that serve as Senex-Juvex's best troops. Normal army is deployed on frontier or contested worlds, while the Noble Houses fund domestic police forces to maintain order in cities and ports. The army can be expanded by "calling the banners", initiating a draft. Raider units are an independent, out-of-system military force that focuses on slave acquisition and attacks into enemy territory.

While the individual Noble affiliated militaries often spar against one another over contested worlds, they are unified on rare, yet critical occasions by the Natama Synod that unites all Noble forces against a common foe.

-Elite Noble Guardsmen: 8 Platoons which include pilots for mobile units, medical personnel and intelligence units.

I like the ambition, but your work must match your vision. Look at some other approved factions to learn the requirements of a successful submission. Also you need at least two compatriots to get off the ground. Good luck with this!~

This is your chance to start creating the lore for the system and I'd like to see it. Like duke said, ambition is great, but at the moment this is more what we'd call an interest check than a proper submission. Once you've fleshed out your ideas more and have more clearly defined what this faction is, how they came to be, how they have maintained sovereignty, etc. Edit that info into your post, along with the system name where they're starting out and hit me up again in this thread.

Currently there isn't enough substance to tell me anything more than you want to create it, not what it is, or where you see it going or becoming.

Yeah sorry guys, I'm pretty busy and it was my intention to write what I could and then save it and then continue to work on it. I had no intention of this being the final product. Throughout the evening and tomorrow I will be adding to this extensively, fear not, all your questions shall be answered to the best of my descriptive ability.

Actually quite interested in this since I intended to do something similar in the new timeline. Looking forward to see how you go about it!

I need some more detailed information regarding territory and military as per the Indie Faction Rules. I'm willing to consider allowing you to start off on a larger scale in terms of territory than most, given what you're trying to do, but I need to see more information in that regard. Military assets would not be allowed to exceed the maximum for new indie factions.

So i've updated the territory and edited the military section.

My idea with the military and the explanation was the explain the overall military potential of the Kingdom, while I only intend to have work with House Vandron.

The Territory I listed were just what I considered to be "essential" planets to the Kingdom. Like many systems in the Galaxy, Senex-Juvex is home to hundreds of planets, but many are not essential, have never been mentioned at length in cannon etc. And the Kingdom, only takes up a very small chunk of civilized space

I need hard numbers for the military regardless of what you want to do. Generally the upper limit for indie factions that are just starting out is: maximum of six corvette class vessels and two frigates.

As for your territory; the scale is far too much. To allow you to start off with a kingdom of hundreds of planets would be simply unfair to the other factions that have been approved. It's a stretch for me to allow you to start off with even one planet fully under your factions control, but given the situation I'll allow ONE planet to be deemed fully under House Vandron influence. As for the kingdom, the rest of it must be acquired through RP and submitting faction expansion requests as needed.

You must also submit planet and species write-ups for any planets you are creating for use; they must be created as independent and not solely for the purpose of your faction.

You also need three members with characters interested in joining before this goes through at all.

Oh yeah of course mate, sorry if I misrepresented my purpose/explanation. It was not my intention to suggest that we would have hundreds of planets under our influence, and fully expected to simply have Karfeddion, our home world as the planet of House Vandron RP.

When you mentioned the territory of the Senex-Juvex Kingdom I thought you meant for me to a paint a picture of the whole kingdom as a backdrop for the House Vandron RPs.

The worlds mentioned, aside from Karfeddion are those who are to be neutral and not yet under our influence, they are there for the sake of RP and perhaps as a goal for the future.

Being new I don't really know how many star fighters is acceptable for the faction or how many ground units. I'd like advice on what would be realistic to field.

Thank you so much for working with me on this Lucid. Where can I find the species and planet write-ups?

Is anyone interested in this faction? Otherwise I'll have it archived and just figure it out later. I really hope that this can fit a unique niche and offer a unique backdrop of feudal/courtly politics and the potential for perhaps a new power rising in the south of the galaxy adding a new dynamic to our boards

Damn near anything, whatever suits your fancy. You could be a member of the royal family, a trusted bodyguard/captain of the guard, Vizier or minister, Commodore of our modest navy, slave raider, diplomat, spy, if you're willing to write, i'm willing to write with you

Absolutely! I hope we interact a bit during the manaan story because I am totally inspired to create a mass effect 2 Inspired RP where a wealthy beneficiary (Silas) will assemble a crack team of fringers/mercenaries/independents to accompany him on a treasure hunt either in the unknown regions or the deep core, might try to go after some ancient rakatan tech/treasure on lehon, sorta following the path of KOTOR, finding a star maps or ancient documents etc.

Ok, cool, just shoot me a PM when you do get at least three members invested in it. Then from there, I will give the faction a more thorough look over.

If this faction is created, I'll probably submit a character for it.
