This was an awful tragedy.

It's important to remember we don't know the whole story and are subject to what is reported to us. Hostage situations don't always have a happy ending, especially when dealing with crazed militant fanatics. I would not be overtly surprised to learn that the other nations involved in this are simply dusting their hands from a situation that simply couldn't be stopped by blaming Algeria.

Just a little of devil's advocate, there. We don't often see hostage situations that go south; it's human instinct to blame someone else when tragedies happen.

Or maybe Algeria really was stupid and honestly did charge blindly with 'guns blazing'. It's hard to say.

My heart goes out to all those poor families that lost someone in this disaster. This is really awful.

Very disappointed by how the crisis was handled.

At this point, it sounds like a conspiracy theory, but the only reason I can see Algerian authorities refusing help is if they had a stake in the matter that they wanted to resolve themselves.

And to think, Germany wants to outsource all of their energy needs to some crazy North African solar power idea.

Just saw on the news 650 hostages freed, 12 killed, 30 unaccounted for. Dafuq is going on?
