Hosnian Prime, Core Worlds
Lt. Tarrius Drast, Grand Army of The Republic

If you would have asked me years prior that I'd be here, I'd tell you that you were lying. It seemed that my family had been destined to rule for years over this galaxy. I tried to fight back, but the darkness in this galaxy was more than one man could ever handle. The hubris that my family held was the same thing that propelled me into thinking I could change this galaxy. In reality I was just one man, and the Grand Army instilled that in me.

Our training had been accelerated, and a lot of our gear was influx. I had only gotten a blast vest and a surplus bucket helmet along with an R5 Blaster Rifle before being shipped out on assignment. We had seen the simulations, and knew what we were defending. The Empire may have folded, but there were still those who would have to pay for their crimes and actions against the people of this galaxy. Today would be the first step towards providing justice for all.

The sound of the carrier buzzed through the air as it flew through the traffic that dotted the sea of endless skyscrapers. The air seemed cleaner up here, more so than Nar Shaddaa, but the former bounty hunter had no doubt that things were just as dangerous on the bottom levels.

The junior officer peered towards his small company of soldiers, as he adjusted his hand in his strap as the sound of the dropship's comm's broke through the bloodtray, "Heading down to the lower levels, ETA 5 minutes to the drop zone."

Tarrius watched as their ship sunk deeper into the city, the once setting sun had fell hidden behind the buildings, they were entering the heart of darkness. "Special Investigator Zebb will be leading the mission, this is a department of justice job," the officer responded to the men aboard the ship--his brown eyes locking with the Abednedo for a moment. "Spooks in Intel have located a safe-house for Imperial Holdouts within level 1432. It is belied that a low ranking official of the Empire, Commander Zarrus, is hiding there. Zarrus is wanted by the Republic for crimes against the galaxy and the countless slaughtered civilians within the Outer Rim. We are to bring him in alive and as many of these Imperials that we can."

His eyes shifted towards the Investigator, "You lead the way, we'll help secure the place."

Usually Sander went at it alone and more than once had to abandon the hunt upon seeing the criminals outnumbered him. His ZA-13 blaster pistol and a Sector Ranger badge rarely made an outlaw surrender without a fight. Today however, was different. Not only was the target an extremely well-trained soldier that had surrounded himself with equally well-trained soldiers all following the same Imperial doctrine, but as Sander looked around at the newly uniformed Republic troopers he realized that for the first time he wasn't going at it alone and he was glad to know Lieutenant Drast had his back.

"We're lucky all these Imperials look the same-" he said as a winked at a Rodian trooper who would never have had a decent chance at a job in the Imperial Republica of old - well, of a few years ago. "-you people listen to your lieutenant, because issuing orders isn't my thing unless its telling them to surrender."

He knew his words weren't uplifting, but they were true nonetheless. If these men and women wanted to survive a shoot-out with the Imperials then they needed to listem to their lieutenant first and foremost. Subconsciously the fingers on Sander's left hand touched the two extra powerpacks attached to his belt while his right hand slowly took the ZA-13 from its holster and squeezed it gently. Here we go, my friend.

Before he knew it the dropship hovered just a few feet above the durasteel floor of level 1432 and he jumped out with his polished boots first. The landing hurt his ankles but he didn't have time to stand around and as he moved forward to make way for the troopers that had stood behind him the pain subsided anyway.

Once everyone was out the dropship lifted off again and left them behind in neon-lit darkness. "I hate city-worlds," the Abednedo shook his head and sighed deeply. "-it's the street to the left. After our entrance we better prepare for them to be alert."

Tarrius slid down the rope, his eyes scanning the area as he held his blaster ready--a small smirk formed on his face as he watched the Investigator limp off his jump. He's a daring one, the man thought to himself as he placed a hand on the alien's shoulder. "You should have seen Nar Shaddaa," the former vigilante would give a slight wink before motioning his soldiers to follow him.

The streets seemed empty, it was a mostly abandoned corporate sector, gangs and the sort had taken up within the vast networks of office complexes and sprawling factory systems. It was a catacomb that could take decades to find someone if they had hidden themselves well.

Fortunately for the Republic, it seemed that the Imperials had been in a hurry. "Up ahead, in the abandoned Meritech Corp Facility," the officer would point his hand towards a sprawling four floor complex that was nestled along an unlit street. "A few former Imperials in intelligence tipped us off that they're in there. There's an estimated platoon's worth in there, military troopers and droids, government officials as well as our target."

The soldier would approach the outside of the building, motioning for his troops to stop. "This is an intelligence operation, regular rules don't apply here. If they pick up a blaster you're free to fire. But, keep the body count low if we can, we want to bring in those that are willing...we aren't the Empire." He'd say in a stern voice.

"We have a few options, one..we go through that front door and work our way up from the lobby, or two we can try and grapple to the top floor and work our way down." He'd turn towards the investigator, "Your call."

Sander looked at the lieutenant for a moment, seemingly deep in thought, and retrieved credit chip from his pocket with his free hand. "When its the Imperial logo we go through the front door, if it's the other side we'll try the roof." He wasn't under any illusion that the soldiers would probably think he was irresponsible and reckless with their lives, but as a Sector Ranger you learn that can never predict the actions of a cornered womprat and as such you shouldn't try. Takes up brain space.

Sander tossed the credit chip and watched as it flipped over a couple of times before landing back in his hand, "Roof it is." Holstering his blaster pistol, the Abednedo turned his eyes to the steep walls of the largely unlit street and after a silent moment pointed to a particular spot. "That should be big enough for about four lines," he said as he turned back to the Lieutenant and his men. Sure enough, four troopers knelt against the wall and shot grappling hooks up with considerable skill, convincing Sander that it was something that had been a common occurrence in their previous job as urban security officers. After they tested the lines they stepped back contently and once again shouldered their rifles, "All set, ranger Zebb."

"I'll go first," the ranger spoke softly, but since it was his idea he felt obliged to take the risk of really testing it out. He took three deep breathes, grabbed the line with both hands and set his boots against the wall. Slowly and methodically he scaled the wall, shortly followed by the troopers who were more adept at it and climbed the four floors much faster.

Once they reached the top they found it to be all solid concrete and without an access hatch or door. Kriff. That explained why they weren't met with guards after shooting the grappling hooks. Sander was visibly trying to think of an alternative that didn't mean they'd have to get down and go through the front door after all and after a few moments he seemed to have had an epiphany. "Alright, guess we move those hooks and breach through a window."

Luckily the offices of Meritech Corp Facility believed in having a good view of otherwise hideous urban scenery. That meant there were plenty of windows to choose from and the troopers did their job in excellent fashion, for merely a minute later their blasters shot through the glass and they entered the floor blasters at the ready. Unfortunately, by the time Sander and the Lieutenant followed it seemed the entire building was alerted to the breach and there would be a rush of targets going up the stairs.

This was definitely the part where the Lieutenant got back command.

Tarrius readied himself along the glass, pushing his feet off the glass as he motioned towards his troops. Swinging back along the rope, they'd ready their blasters, shooting out the windows as the swung back in. Their plan had worked, but unfortunately for them, it seemed they had picked the floor that the Moff had taken to hiding. He would see them swing around in shock, as well as the droids coming to life. Tarrius would quickly unlatch the hooks to his rope, as he crashed in against a durasteel cubicle wall.

Switching the safety off his blaster, he watched as the investigator and the rest of his men came in, but the blaster fire had already begun, striking their last soldier, private Jeego, a fresh Rodian recruit, square in the chest, and back out the window he had just come--dangling and twirling as he was suspended in the air.

"Man down," his eyes would shoot over towards Sander, "Let's see what you can do." He'd motion towards a human soldier beside him, "You're with me, Corporal go with the investigator. Use the cubicles as cover and flank opposite sides. I'm going to give them a flash, if it works...take out the troops and droids and spare the HVT, if not...improvise."

Tarrius crouched walked into the cubicle, pulling a flash from his side. He'd pull the clip and pop up inside of the cubicle and throw the grenade towards the center of the room where the Imperials and the Moff were located.

No, Jeego...

Sander ducked into cover, not hearing his own thoughts due to the sudden eruption of blaster fire, yet to his own surprise he found his blaster pistol in his right hand. "Got it!" he replied hastily when the lieutenant began issuing orders , prompting him and the corporal to advance one cubicle at a time, covering each other the best they could.

The stun grenade detonated a few cubicles further in and while Sander clearly heard a scream and the fizzling of electronics malfunctioning, there seemed no end to the blaster bolt barrage coming from the Imperials. It was here that things took a turn for the worst. It was Sander's turn to move a cubicle ahead, but just has he ducked away from cover and the corporal rose to give suppressing fire of his own, the latter was hit twice in the chest and Sander got a grazing hit to his right leg.

Ducking back into cover, his left hand touched the grazing wound and while it wasn't lethal it sure hurt enough to not focus on the direction the enemy fire was coming from. As he winced in pain, a solitary figure crouching across the way caught his attention. It was the spitting image of Commander Zarrus himself! "Zarrus!" Sander screamed as he leveled his blaster and fired. The Imperial evaded the shots by diving into the cover of a cubicle, but there was no way he could make his escape either.

Despite having Commander Zarrus pinned down, the situation was beginning to look quite dire. Sander couldn't move and to risk losing the HVT, two members of the squad were already dead and the Imperial had them properly suppressed. And worse, the Imperial position could be reinforced any second now.
