BIOGRAPHY AND PERSONALITY:
Hope grew up on her native planet of Umbara. She belonged to a small remote tribe of Nightshades that lived separate from the main clans in Noklok. Thus, in many respects, Hope and her clan were much more uncivilized than those in the renascence boom of Noklok. However, the members of Hope’s tribe were much more adept hunters. What Noklok had gained in writers, enlightenment, and technology they’d lost in hunting, stalking, and stealth. The lack of technological advances didn’t slow down Hope’s tribe, they quickly began gaining more and more hunting grounds until they over stretched their reach. While hunting in the lands of another remote tribe. There was an accident and a member of Hope’s tribe was killed. The two tribes shortly went to war and the ensuing battle left Hope a war orphan. According to Nightshade traditions Hope’s duties were to herself, her family, and her tribe. However with the death of her tribe and family she found that she was unprepared for life without her tribe. She was skilled enough to survive on her own but she lacked purpose and guidance.

Hope is an extrovert who enjoys the company of others and can be seen by some, the quiet types, as a loud mouth. Hope finds joy in those around her and the loss of her family and friends signaled the loss of her joy. The ensuing stress caused a prolonged elevation of Shadin which thrust her into the form of a shadow. She tore through the forest in this form expending her energy and consuming every source of Shadin she came across fueling her high. It was during this time that she came across a sole Umbaran in the forest. It was wielding some sort of sun and training with it similarly to a sword. After several hours of sword play the Umbaran then spent hours in meditation. In Shadow form, Hope's mental faculties were reduced but even in her shadow form Hope could tell that this sun wielder was a great hero. The title of Hero was a great post-houmous honor, one that ever Nightshade attempted to achieve. In shadow form Hope wasn't able to make the conscious decision to become an apprentice, but she did decided to follow the female and train to wield the sun. Hope's curiosity always got the better of her. There were many times on hunts that she would nearly leave from her hiding spot to investigate a shiny piece of medal or a new animal she hadn't seen before.

Still in the form of a shadow, Hope stalked the Jedi back to the Jedi’s starship. Whether the Jedi was unaware of Hope’s presence or simply chose to ignore her, Hope never knew. After two days stowed away on the vessel, Hope's Shadin level dropped to the point where she could finally revert back to her Nightshade form. It was at this point that she could communicate with the Jedi and reveal herself to the other woman. The Jedi seemed unphased by Hope’s sudden appearance, and unlike most Umbarans this one didn’t seem to hold the same prejudice against her that others she had met did. This pleased Hope who had never understood racial prejudices and wrote them off as small mindedness. While they floated through space enroute to Anoth, Hope began to learn the fundamentals of the Force and the history of the Jedi. When they finally arrived on Anoth Hope was shocked to learn that she was on another planet. At first she thought that there had been a fire that destroyed the forest, but the Umbaran tried to explain to her that they were somewhere else. Further confused, but somewhat relieved that her home wasn't destroyed, Hope surmised that the metal houses must have been able to transport people to other realms of existence. Her education had been minimal and hadn’t included any information about the galaxy or technology. This was shocking to Hope at first but she remain faithful to and trusting of the strange Umbaran.

Hope was pleasantly surprised to learn that there were many sun wielders within the Jedi Order and that she would one day be a sun wielder herself. However, before she could even begin her formal studies Anoth was attacked by the Sith. Hope had little knowledge of what was occurring but she was smart enough to know that her knew tribe had fallen under attack. She fought valiantly in the battle, killing several sky men before retreating with the Jedi. It was at this point that Hope realized that the metal houses didn't transport between realms of existence but rather flew up into the sky to other stars. Hope was distraught to learn of her first mentors death. She spent weeks in mourning and wished to return to the rock planet. She didn’t understand the weapons systems of the space ships or space travel and she certainly didn’t understand that if she opened the airlock to escape the metal house, she and everyone else in the vessel would die.

Slowly through counseling from other Jedi she was able to deal with the Umbaran’s death and begin her studies again. After seeing the intense destruction of the sun that the Jedi and Sith wielded, the allure of the weapon wore off. While she wasn’t opposed to learning to use it, the weapon didn’t hold the same charm it once did. Hope had been floating along with the Jedi, planet hoping, learning the ways of the civilized galaxy and the Jedi. Hope found the swamps of Naboo the most fitting of planets that the Jedi she traveled with and decided to stay there and train with the other Jedi on the planet. Hope wasn't necessarily a nature lover, but after living in the forest and sleeping in the trees the cots and beds other Jedi slept in just didn't seem right.

Hope had several struggles and successes early on in the Order. All of them stemming from her lack of formal education and civilized mannerisms. Hope’s fur covered her body and while other Nightshades, specifically those on Noklok, wore some clothing to be more modest, Hope and Hope’s tribe never felt the need to as their fur covered their entire body. Their fur provided warmth in the cold and their perpetual nakedness left them with no sense of shame concerning their bodies. This led to shocked stares and whispers from many of the younger girls and uncomfortable looks from the boys. Hope’s slim and fit physique was certainly attractive and distracting to some; however in Nightshade culture duty to one’s clan was the most attractive feature one could have. Hope didn't realize that her nakedness was causing the disturbance, as physical beauty meant little in Nightshade culture, and simply attributed the strange looks to prejudice against a strange being many had never seen before. Another shortcoming of Hope’s was her lack of education, she didn’t understand space travel or how guns could shoot piercing light. This led to her needing to spend an exorbitant amount of time with older Jedi who explained everything she needed to know to get by, and not have to worry about being laughed at for asking what many would consider silly questions. The younger Jedi would at times tease her and mock her ignorance. Hope learned fast as her curiosity and desire to learn pushed her to stay in classes longer than the other students and get extra tutoring during free time.

Hope did have several advantages over other padawans. Her training among the Nightshades from birth gave her a decided advantage in combat. This caused issues at times when Hope would take out her anger at being laughed at one the other padawans during sparring matches. Hope's emotions were typically worn on her sleeve and she learned early on that fighting with emotions wasn't acceptable amongst the sun wielders. On top of her combat prowess, Hope also benefited from the lack of concern for the galaxy and selfishness that many civilized Jedi fought with. Hope’s duty was to her tribe, the Jedi, and her black and white view of the galaxy made it easy for her to focus on studies, master her control of the force, and center herself easier than other who were concerned with strange things like the color of their coverings and what others thought of their metal picture books and other fancy tools. Though many of the Jedi's teachings were strange, Hope knew that in order to best honor her tribe she must accept their teachings and learn their ways.

Hope aspires to be a great warrior of stealth and in death achieve the title of Hero. She knows this is what her skills are geared toward and how she can best benefit her new tribe. Hope cares about those in her tribe and tries to take care of the younger members of the Order, even though they don't always act the same way towards Hope. While she still doesn’t understand all the workings of the galaxy, she can now use simple tools like a data pad and has even started flying some. Hope is ambitious and wants to one day be chief of her tribe, though she doesn’t yet understand how vast the galaxy is and how deep the grasp of the Jedi is. It is safe to say though that once Hope’s training is complete and she becomes more aware of modern society she’ll be a force to be reckoned with.

I simply love the fact that you used a species from the site, not to mention the Nightshades are simply bad***. When you're accepted into the order I would love to do a thread with Hope and my padawan Jade (link in sig). As a matter of fact I am in a thread with her on Umbara as we speak. She looks amazing though and I like that you've obviously taken the time to look into various things on the site.

My only negative is that you need to include a personality section with at least 50 words. This helps people understand your character and to know if one of their PCs will get along with yours.

Ah, a fresh victim... I mean character!

She looks great. Like Oracle said though, a personality is crucial to the overall write up. Other than that, I like her and look forward to seeing where you take her.

And don't worry that you don't have a spiffy profile layout. This in and of itself is solid as is. But if you would like any help putting it into another format/template, I'd be glad to give you a hand. Just drop me a PM or VM if you're interested.

So I updated her bio to add a personality as well. There isn't a specific section dedicated to the personality but it is written into the bio, I felt like that just had a more natural feel to it than a completely separate section.

Oracle: Thanks! I was actually just going to go with a human but I decided to peruse what you guys had created and the Nightshades were just waaaaaay too awesome for me to pass up. I'd love to get into an RP with Jade. I looked over her profile and I think Jade and Hope might make good friends.

Crazy: I'd like to RP with you as well. Let me know if you have any ideas.

Gamov: Thanks, I haven't really found a template or anything that I like yet but if I come across one I'll definitely shoot you a PM and see if you can help me out.

Lotho: Thanks! :)
