Still learning more and more about this timeline...

....so I have a question regarding Holocrons.

Is it possible to:

1. Do a thread to discover an ancient Sith Lord's holocron (i.e. Ajunta Pall) and lay claim to it in the Tech section

2. Create a holocron for your own character and lay claim to it through Tech

I thoroughly enjoy doing quests like this and reaping the benefits from restless nights.

WAIT....did Disney uncanon Ajunta Pall? *Holds that rat by his big floppy ears with evil intent in mind whilst waiting for an answer*

What should be the issue with your own holocron? In the end it's a really fancy book. And it should not be necesary to do a writeup if you ask me.
Generally due to the nature of the Sith there should be holocrons in graves or temples all over the galaxy. Now when it comes to finding a specific one idk. Don't think it should be an issue either tho.

So as far as i am aware Sith Holocrons are extremely rare atm, due to the fact that they have the tombs on Moraband, which they can commune with from the great temple on Korriban. This direct link to the spirits of Sith dead and gone is their version of Holocrons this Timeline.

@Prudence @Relent @Gian Greydragon
Tagging Sith FLs to confirm.

As far as I know, Arc is correct in this, but I'm personally totally cool with the idea of a character going out into the galaxy to recover more information for the Sith. Finding one won't turn your character into Naga Sadow by any stretch, but it would gain her some merit within the Sith for finding new information. If @Prudence or @Relent have any more to add to this, I'll hold off on the stamp of approval, but you've got the green light from me.

1. I don't believe so, as last i checked many of those ancient sith are no longer canon and wouldn't exist in our timeline.

2. You could possibly do this, I am not 100%. But as Arc said, the Sith this TL don't really give a hoot about holocrons. Although if your character wanted to change that and create one, and in turn teach others to do so, I think that would be okay. It would make sense that a Sith at some point would think that relying on Moraband for all communication is a bad idea and would seek alternative routes. It would not be easy to do this and would require some (perhaps extensive) RP for her to figure it out, and then actually successfully create one. It may even require stealing information from the Jedi as to how they create them in the first place, or traveling to Moraband (not advisable, unless you do it in secret.. and even then it would be considered sacrilege to step foot there) to ask any of the ancient Sith there if they would tell you how.

@Relent

That was my goal....to teach the Sith something new. My character doesn't care about who she offends....and the Jedi, I might even capture one to rip knowledge from them. I have a real thought floating in his noggin of mine. I'll put in the effort and work, and if it doesn't pan out....well....writing is all about fun! :)

I feel like the idea of Sith not using holocrons at all or having them be that extremely rare doesn't really fit with some of what we already have from canon, such as the Sith Holocron for Malachor, which in most of the ways they describe it far predates our current timeline. Given that the Jedi have also been using holocrons for ages and the Sith were originally formed (and quite often supplemented) by rogue Jedi (and a few other considerations that make this seem goofy to me, i.e. the fact that the Sith info board is titled "The Holocrons"), it doesn't really make sense to me for holocrons to be that rare. We might focus on using the spirits of the dead, sure, but it's also described as not being a constant communication, but something that can only happen for a limited time each day; it only stands to reason that we'd also have libraries of texts and holocrons and what-not.

I'd instead argue that learning how to make a holocron would still be a different thing, but you shouldn't have to go out and steal one from the Jedi or anything like that. It should be easily possible to find the knowledge within the Sith alone.
