Adabelle "Ada" Prewett is a pure-blood witch and the second and youngest child of Maddock and Auriga Prewett. A sixth year student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, she was sorted into Slytherin House, despite being considered for Gryffindor. During her fifth year, Adabelle was appointed prefect.

Adabelle is a clever and talented, but mischievous witch. Very popular amongst her peers, she displays great self-confidence and outspokenness in public. Her phlegm and determination carry her through many difficult situations. Extremely charismatic, she knows how to capture the attention of other students or teachers and pick up on their mood and motivation in order to manipulate them into giving her what she wants. However, she is not malevolent and generally uses her influence to positive, though sometime selfish, aims. As a result of her upbringing, Adabelle is ignorant and somewhat prejudiced regarding Muggle culture and society, having passed on the opportunity to take Muggle Studies in her third year. She also struggles to make tough decisions under pressure which would represent a considerable shortcoming if she was confronted to life-and-death situations.

There was never any doubts that Adabelle had inherited her parents' abilities. While her older brother, two years her elder, had to wait until his fifth birthday before demonstrating his magical proficiency, three-years-old Adabelle wanting to imitate her sibling was frequently levitating her toys around her room, much to her mother's dismay. Her early life was comfortable; Mrs. Prewett had inherited a share of the Black family's wealth when her own father had passed away and Mr. Prewett held an important position at the Department of Magical Law Enforcement. In the aftermath of the Great War and as a consequence of the ascension of dark wizard Gillert Grindelwalt, the Prewett children's contacts with the outside world were kept to a minimum.

When Valerian began attending Hogwarts, Adabelle was extremely jealous. She would have to wait two more years before going to the prestigious school of witchcraft and wizardry. She began "borrowing" her mother's wand in order teach herself magic from books in her father's library. To avoid their daughter blowing up the house in their absence, Mr. and Mrs. Prewett decided to teach their daughter simple spells which would give her a head start when came time for her to attend Hogwarts two years later.

In her first year, the Sorting Hat determined Slytherin House was where Adabelle belonged, unlike her brother who had been sorted into Gryffindor House. This caused a minor rift between the two siblings who would spend ten months per year, for five years, being rival for the House Cup. She still remained fond of Valerian and secretly admired his prowess on the Quidditch field. As a student, her family name and undeniable talent caught the attention of Head of Slytherin House, Horace Slughorn who permitted her more liberties then would have been reasonable and appointed her prefect during her fifth year at Hogwarts.

While her performances in Divination, Defence Against the Dark Arts and Transfiguration are outstanding and her Charms work generally exceeds expectations, Adabelle doesn't perform well in subjects she pompously refers to as non-magic, such as Astronomy, History of Magic, Herbology and Potions ─ which she all dropped having not attained the necessary OWLs in her fifth year.

Adam Chadwick

Ravenclaw London Pureblood
Male 17 5’10” / 1.79 m 155 lb / 70 kg
Brown Hair Fair Skin Hazel Eyes
Andrew Garfield Theme

Personality
0deae7955baf0ce3e0bde909102f3aaa.jpg
One of the brightest minds in Ravenclaw, Adam is a charming young man who exudes optimism and politeness wherever he goes. One can find him laughing with his friends and making small talk with other students, but often he is nose-deep in a book relating to his studies. Although Adam doesn’t read simply for the sake of reading, he will research extensively in the fields of his homework to completely understand the subject. Sometimes this has made more than a few of his friends upset with him, as Adam will decline spending time with them in lieu of devoting more time to study. However, some people suspect he’s actually going there to stalk other students while under the pretence of doing homework and reading.

At heart, Adam is a true gentleman. Speaking eloquently and politely, using the finer points of grammar, and continually practicing chivalrous behaviour make him a favourite among plenty of the school’s professors. One will not find him wandering around at night or breaking other rules; Adam tries his utmost to stay out of trouble and for the most part dissociates with those who do. With this in mind, he isn’t a tattletale and avoids conflict of any sort as much as he can. If Adam sees someone breaking the rules, he will usually confront them depending on how serious the offence is, but he won’t always bring it up to a teacher.

Although it isn’t too difficult to for Adam to get frustrated or upset, one would be hard pressed to make him legitimately angry. The only occasions in which he would raise his voice or confront someone is if one of his friends is in danger, or if a girl is being abused by another student. One thing that particularly raises Adam’s temper is when a particular injustice being done to either another student or himself. More often than not, he finds that this is the case when Slytherin students perpetuate lies throughout the school. Adam also as a general rule tolerates Gryffindors and likes Hufflepuffs, but dislikes Slytherins due to rather bad experiences with them over the years.

Adam suffers from self esteem issues, especially when it comes to his looks. There are a lot of other good-looking guys in the school, and Adam has had very little success with girlfriends over the years. When he is in the presence of a particularly pretty girl or someone he likes, he will grow quiet and awkward - quite the opposite of his usual self. Adam judges himself constantly and compares himself to his friends and other people, often having bouts of depression if he reflects about it for any great length of time. He needs lots of encouragement and socialization to stay out of this mindset. Though he’d never admit it, often times he unwittingly shows off with much more elaborate spells than are necessary to receive admiration from the onlookers, thereby improving his own self esteem.

Biography
tumblr_n3c2f0NlM81qk8r8go1_500.jpg
Adam was born into a pureblood family, living in a quiet community just outside London. He is familiar with both Muggle and Magical family customs, as his mother and father made sure he was well-versed in both as Adam grew up.

His parents both work at St. Mungo’s Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries; his father is a healer, and his mother is a nurse. Because of this, the Chadwicks are quite well off and provided Adam with the best supplies he needed for school. Mr. Chadwick works on the fourth floor of St. Mungo’s, the Spell Damage ward.

Adam lived a relatively normal life, and didn’t start showing any magical abilities until he was 9. For a long time, his parents thought he wouldn’t become a wizard, not until one day when he sneezed and blue sparks shot out from his mouth. Overjoyed, they celebrated that night and sure enough, a letter for Hogwarts came when he turned 11.

Most Professors at Hogwarts would call Adam a model student. He’s had very high grades in most subjects ever since he began school, with very few incidents. There was one occasion where he took on a Slytherin and a Gryffindor student to defend a girl they were bullying, but ended up in the Hospital Wing for his efforts.

To this day, Adam is known mostly for his studious nature and exceptional work with Charms. One of his primary skills is that he is able to learn new things much faster than many other students. He is also unfortunately well known for not being able to get into a serious relationship. This has lead to some curious whispers; some say he’s gay, but most think he was cursed on his first date a few years back and just can’t get a girl since. To this day Adam vehemently denies either, but avoids talking about it nonetheless.

With the small amount of wandlore that he’s studied, Adam has attempted making a few wands with the materials he can salvage or afford. While he’s usually unable to acquire any of Ollivander’s three best wand cores (unicorn hair, dragon heartstring, and phoenix feather), he’s experimenting with other magical cores to test their effectiveness. So far Adam’s been very careful and has avoided blowing up the Ravenclaw common room, though most students don’t like being around when he’s creating or testing the instruments. Before he goes to bed in the evenings, Adam often takes a knife and wittles one of the many dowels of various wood types to create the wand casings. He personally prefers elegance over raw power or practicality, and takes extra care and effort to carve ornate designs and patterns into the wands. He has a box next to his bed, full of discarded and finished wands of various sorts.

Magical Aptitude
tumblr_mre00rCTUK1rj3uj2o1_500.gif
While capable as any witch or wizard in performing various spells and hexes, Adam is by far the most proficient in the field of charms. Due to his natural tendency to enunciate and perform precise, dexterous movements, charms come natural to him and he enjoys the subject immensely. Adam often stays behind to discuss the intricacies of certain spells they reviewed each class.

One particular subject that Adam has shown considerable interest in as well is wandlore. Unfortunately, there aren’t any elective choices that he is able to take that covers the subject, so he is slowly taking the time to do as much research as he can on it. His current plans once he finishes school is to either pursue his work in charms or become an assistant at Ollivanders, with the goal to start up his own wand making business.

Adam, although certainly capable on a broomstick, has no real love for sports, which is why he hasn’t tried out on the Ravenclaw quidditch team white at Hogwarts. While he still goes to the matches to support his House and spend time with his friends, Adam wouldn’t enjoy going to the World Cup for any other reason than to hang out with his friends. His second least favourite subject is Herbology, as he abhors dealing with plants and dirt in general, not to mention magical - and potentially life-threatening - ones.

Transfiguration is the second subject that Adam shows the most aptitude towards. While interested changing the appearance of objects at a whim, he much more enjoys the flamboyance and elaborate spells he is capable of doing in charms. Adam has entertained the idea of becoming an Animagus, but could never decide what animal he’d like to be and was daunted by the difficulty of the process.

Like most students that attend Hogwarts, Adam purchased his wand in his first year from Garrick Ollivander. It is made of elm, a wood known for choosing wizards with exceptional magical dexterity. The core of the semi-stiff 11 ¾ inch instrument is a dragon heartstring.

“The unfounded belief that only pure-bloods can produce magic from elm wands was undoubtedly started by some elm wand owner seeking to prove his own blood credentials, for I have known perfect matches of elm wands who are Muggle-borns. The truth is that elm wands prefer owners with presence, magical dexterity and a certain native dignity. Of all wand woods, elm, in my experience, produces the fewest accidents, the least foolish errors, and the most elegant charms and spells; these are sophisticated wands, capable of highly advanced magic in the right hands (which, again, makes it highly desirable to those who espouse the pure-blood philosophy).”

“As a rule, dragon heartstrings produce wands with the most power, and which are capable of the most flamboyant spells. Dragon wands tend to learn more quickly than other types. While they can change allegiance if won from their original master, they always bond strongly with the current owner.”

Cyra is the name of Adam’s faithful Barn Owl. Although his mother and father already own an owl, Pierce, he is older and used mostly for their work at St. Mungo’s Hospital. Their family used Pierce primarily as Adam was growing up, but after his first year at Hogwarts Adam’s parents decided to award his excellent grades with his own choice of owl. He spent quite a while in consideration at Eeylops Owl Emporium, learning about the pros and cons of each species of bird available. Finally, he chose the Barn Owl and bought Cyra, who was just a fledgeling at the time.

Since then, she has grown into a beautiful and intelligent bird that has yet to fail him once in delivering a post. Although a loving and usually docile animal, Cyra has been known to be very protective of Adam and becomes alarmingly jealous when she feels or sees him becoming attached to someone, specifically a girl. This often results in mean nipping, a strangely sassy or aloof attitude, and other behaviours that make it quite clear Cyra is displeased with Adam.

Despite this, the two still love each other very much. The duo routinely celebrate each other’s birthdays and Christmas by getting special treats and other gifts; something a bit unusual for people to do with their pets. Cyra is also quite a vocal and expressive owl, hooting her disapproval or rubbing affectionately up against Adam (whichever mood she’s in at the time) during meal times when the mail is delivered.

Due to the heavy amount of supplies Adam buys for his wand making hobby, he gets packages of magical components or small shipments of wood types almost daily. Cyra is seen so often, sometimes more than once a day, that she’s very well-known amongst the students and staff of Hogwarts. Occasionally, she’ll stop by at other tables to receive small samples of food or other treats that friends offer her. Some might think that Adam overworks her, but the truth is that Cyra gets bored very quickly and enjoys running errands for her owner.

A most peculiar pocket watch by the name of Astralaria has been passed down the Chadwick family line for many generations, farther back than any of them really knows. Traditionally, it is given to the firstborn when they begin their fifth year at Hogwarts, and the relic usually garners plenty of attention from all who see it. While believed to be of Goblin make, neither Adam’s parents nor his grandparents bothered to have it examined officially by one for fear that the greedy race would claim it as their own.

The embroidered pocket watch, made of a matte gold, features a small globe on the casing that, much like the ceiling of Hogwarts, displays the sky and weather outside. Many a night, Adam has laid awake in bed, watching the stars from his little pocket watch. Another curious effect is that if one tilts the glass on the cover, it acts as though they’re looking through a window and can see more of the sky. The back of the heirloom is flat, the only noticeable difference being the word Astralaria engraved in the middle. It is one of Adam’s most treasured possessions as it reminds him of his family back at home.

A sixth year student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, James Rickard has typically been something of an average, albeit somewhat unconventional student for most of his tutelage, perhaps remarkable only for the use of a magical heirloom staff instead of the more conventional wand.

The son of the Auror Francis Rickard and his then-wife and now professor of Apparition at Hogwarts, Nichola Rickard, James was surrounded by the more dangerous aspects of magic from a very early age. Young thrillseekers both, Francis and Nichola freely encouraged James to express his magical talents as soon as they manifested, which was surprisingly young even for a wizard. As his parents grew and matured, thrillseeking turned to adventure, and the Rickards rarely settled long in any particular place before wanderlust bade them explore new horizons.

Francis' work as an Auror in particular introduced James to dueling and combat magic from an early age, and he was encouraged to learn to defend himself - even joining Francis on occasion to hunt monsters and arrest dark wizards, much to the chagrin of Nichola. unfortunately, Francis and Nichola's disagreements on how to raise James fractured their relationship, and the pair ended up separating shortly before James was set to begin classes at Hogwarts. As Nichola would be able to see James during the school year, Francis would have custody over the boy during the scheduled holidays over winter and summer breaks. However, Nichola's duties as a professor conflicted with her ability to see her son, and the two grew increasingly distant during James' early years at Hogwarts.

Though his theoretical and practical knowledge of the Dark Arts, jinxes, hexes and charms set him in good steading to perform well at practical magic, James continually proved to be quite poor at academic learning without practical application - in particular, his mind failed to grasp the complex intricacies of classes such as Herbology and Potions.

However, the summer break preceding the beginning of James' fifth year at Hogwarts appears to have had a drastic effect on the young man. Returning from travels abroad with considerable facial and bodily scarring, James now sports a quiet, angry and confrontational demeanor. Though hardly a charismatic youth before this event, all past friendships established seem to have been discarded, and James spent his fifth year seemingly hellbent on creating just as many enemies as possible.

Now entering his sixth year at Hogwarts, James faces the prospect of entering the most difficult years of study with little to no support from his peers and a less-than-satisfactory family support base, as well as the obvious and rather severe anger and aggression issues towards other students with little to no extra-curricular activities - a brief stint in the dueling club was forcibly ended and resulted in a ban following James' clearly and willfully discarding all dueling rules in order to win at any cost, resulting in the opponent student and two dozen spectators being sent to the infirmary.

Khamure 'Kam' Morsi is a pure-blood wizard and sixth year student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, having been sorted into Ravenclaw House. An Egyptian national who moved to Britain at the age of nine, Kam is marked out by his foreign heritage and a rare talent for Potions and Alchemy.

BIOGRAPHY
Born to diplomat Rami Morsi and his educated wife, Kam spent the first few years of his life in his native Egypt, in the bustling heart of Cairo. Growing up amidst the withdrawal of British influence in the region and rising political tension, he was shielded from the surrounding instability by his family's wealth and prestige. In relative calm and comfort, he had the opportunity to explore his talents, both magical and mundane. In the former, he was spurred on by his father and uncles, each of them wizards of renown in the Cairo Bazaar of Mysticism.

Kam's father had worked closely with the British throughout the boy's life, developing a strong belief and respect for the institutions of their fading empire. Though the Uagadou School of Magic to the south could offer Kam much, his parents feared for him in a continent throwing off the certainties of the past in favour of stumbling forward alone. Protests and riots were common, coups and border skirmishes an increasing occurrence. The Muggles were looking inward, taking what they could for themselves, and in an effort to stop them many and more witches and wizards were falling in with their tribal militia.

Faced with a choice, the Morsi family used their diplomatic connections to emigrate to Britain, settling in Wilshire, England. Safe in a newfound calm, Kam continued to grow into his adolescence, enrolling at Hogwarts as soon as he was able.

PERSONALITY
As if his piercing gaze and lantern jaw weren't enough, Kam has a fierce intellect, with a passion that often runs unchecked. Extremely selective as to what is worth his time, Kam is largely disinterested in matters that fall outside his favourite pursuits. He is much the same with his friends; only making an effort to get to know those he regards as equals. In this sense, he has developed a rather narrow view of the world today, somewhat at odds with his considerable grasp of history.

Quick to judge others' merit, he is nonetheless unafraid of diversity; though a pure-blood himself, Kam cares less about other kids' parentage than their magical talents. He will wile the hours away chatting with any witch or wizard of skill, but has no truck with Muggles. Kam's father has long taught him how short-sighted and foolish their kind can be; he will never be at their mercy again.

With his few close friends, however, Kam is certainly worth having around. Curious and softly spoken, he makes a good confidante, with an optimism and a self-confidence that some find reassuring. Unapologetically gay, he keeps his inner feelings closely guarded, from his parents, rivals and any who would use them against him.

MAGICAL APTITUDE
Kam is a capable wizard, with a fierce intellect than on occasion outstrips his practical aptitude. Born to an Egyptian pure-blood family who observe North African wizarding tradition, he has a limited ability to use non-verbal magic. Adopting wandlore at school if not at home, however, this ability is very limited indeed; confined to the tactile gestures and movements involved in his Potions and Alchemy, where he can sometimes surprise.

A real thinker, much of Kam's true passion is only translated into action when he sets about his favourite crafts. The young wizard loves potion-making and its cousin, alchemy, finding a thrill in the build up to bringing forth his own creation. With both arts rooted in the history of his ancestral land and the wider ancient world, Kam sees himself as a modern maverick of all things alchemical and aspires to match names like Paracelsus and Flamel. His inside pockets are almost always brimming with many a sealed vial, containing concoctions of his own or illicit design. Many of the latter have come to the attention of Professor Slughorn, who quite apart from disciplining the boy, invited him to join the Slug Club. Kam has now been a regular attender for three years.

Outstanding in both Potions and Alchemy, Kam also excels in History, having had his nose his family's old book since he was a child. Fascinated by transformative magic in general, his Transfiguration exceeds expectations, which his work with Defence Against the Dark Arts is solid, if unexceptional. He finds Charms particularly difficult, which is something of a sore point for him; one he sometimes deals with by demeaning the subject. The only thing he is worse at is Flying, which has never agreed with him at all. He opted to take and pass his Apparition exam instead, having travelled back to Egypt with his family many times with this method.

POSSESSIONS:

x354-q80.jpg

Collar Pin:
Perhaps the young wizard's most prized possession is an old diplomatic collar pin of his father's. Temporarily turned from chrome to silver by a seven year old Kam, the pin has become his constant companion over subsequent years, acting as a focus for his alchemical gifts. Having finally turned it to solid gold after many summers of hard work, Kam keeps it close at all times, both as a reminder of his achievements and an aid to his thinking. He is often seen absentmindedly rolling the pin between his fingers whilst thinking or speaking, when bouts of strong emotion may cause it to change colour or material for the briefest of moments.

Wand: 9½", Acacia, Sphinx hair, very springy
A rare find among a small clutch of foreign imports stocked by Ollivander, Kam's wand is fashioned from a North African Acacia; a wood that often proves difficult to match with any wizard. Acacia wands generally refuse to produce magic for anyone but their owners, while also seeming to withhold their full power from all but the most gifted wizards. In Kam's case, the wand's Sphinx hair core makes it well suited to his contemplative nature and affinity for transformative magic.

EgyptAsh2_large.JPG

Osiris: Kam's smooth, pet black cat. Frequently patrols the staircase to the Ravenclaw common room or lounges on the boy's lap.

Whitney Cottrell

Gryffindor Liverpool Muggle-born
Female 17 5’4” / 1.66 m 120 lb / 54.4 kg
Blonde hair Fair skin Blue-green eyes
Lili Reinhart (with Scouse accent) Theme

Personality
0841c88e991ed53bacb19cd7439f015a.jpg
Whitney is very soft-spoken, preferring to listen to others than speak. She is rather nervous and shy, and would rather not draw attention to herself if possible. This is often seen in class, where if she knows the answer to a question, she will refrain from speaking unless absolutely nobody else knows or if she wants to answer before another team does. Some wonder if her Muggle parents were abusive to her as a child to make her so shy, but such accusations are quite baseless.

Being naturally introverted, Whitney tends to stick with her closer friends, and is quite content on her own as well. Many view her as reclusive and unfriendly, but her companions know Whit for her unwavering loyalty, her gentle heart, and her continual support. Though some wonder why she wasn’t sorted into Hufflepuff, those that know her understand that despite her shyness, she contains a great deal of hidden courage when she is pushed through her insecurities to step out of her comfort zone.

In the face of extreme stress (such as verbal abuse or bullying), she will contain her composure despite the buildup of emotion inside her, instead becoming even more quiet than she normally is. After the ordeal is over, she will usually be found in her room or somewhere secluded to deal with her pent-up emotions alone.

She often tries to act as the voice of reason amongst her friends, but often ends up participating anyway out of peer pressure or simply not wanting to be left out, unless whatever they’re doing involves something public and/or embarrassing.

Biography
640full-lili-reinhart.jpg
Born into a Muggle household in suburban Liverpool, Whitney’s parents both worked at moderate jobs, and she attended school. Life was fairly normal. Some odd things happened here and there, but Whitney merely brushed them off as nothing and never told her parents about them. As such, it was quite a shock to them all when she received her letter inviting her to the prestigious school. After a long discussion, Whitney’s parents agreed to support her new magical endeavours.

Unfortunately, due to the fact that her previous schooling was publicly funded, her parents had little money to support her as she bought her first-year supplies at Diagon Alley. Whit quickly discovered the disadvantages of using second-hand supplies, and since then has always worked hard in the summer months to make enough money to purchase new materials every year.

Overall, Whitney has been a respectable student throughout her education, though the fact she sometimes ends up in the wrong place at the wrong time has kept her from becoming a Prefect, though this is more of a relief to her than anything.

With the oncoming of the War, Whitney’s father was enlisted to serve in the Army. Worried about his well-being, Whit has asked that her mother send her a copy of the “muggle” paper every day.

Magical Aptitude
1118full-lili-reinhart.jpg
As Whitney has studied magic throughout her school years, she quickly realized her preference for the methodical, non-spontaneous arts. As such, it came as no surprise to her when she achieved an O in Potions. She absolutely loves the art, finding it calming and soothing, and feels great satisfaction with every successful brew. Though she enjoys her friends’ company, Whit is still very self-conscious, and can easily screw up if under too much pressure or if someone is watching her work too closely.

Though she does fairly well in Transfiguration, Whit’s wandwork is clumsy, making her not very good at Charms. This is especially heightened when performing in front of others, and she is basically hopeless at demonstrating a Charm when called upon in the middle of class. Whit greatly enjoys Defense Against the Dark Arts, but she has never performed well in History of Magic. Whit likes the theory and practicality of Alchemy, and also enjoys Care of Magical Creatures, being a lover of animals.

Her performance at flying in her first year was absolutely dismal, ending up in an accident and injuring herself quite badly. This, and her general clumsiness with Charms, has gained her the nickname “Half-Whit”. She has avoided a broomstick ever since and only uses one where absolutely necessary. Though she will not participate in Quidditch matches, she will gladly tag along with her friends to the many games and tournaments held by the school.

When Whitney first went to Ollivander’s to have her wand chosen, she tested several types ranging from Hornwood to Pine. She finally found her match in a simple, slightly bendy Larch wand, 9 ¾ inches long and with a Unicorn hair core.

“Strong, durable and warm in colour, larch has long been valued as an attractive and powerful wand wood. Its reputation for instilling courage and confidence in the user has ensured that demand has always outstripped supply. This much sought-after wand is, however, hard to please in the matter of ideal owners, and trickier to handle than many imagine. I find that it always creates wands of hidden talents and unexpected effects, which likewise describes the master who deserves it. It is often the case that the witch or wizard who belongs to the larch wand may never realise the full extent of their considerable talents until paired with it, but that they will then make an exceptional match.”

“Unicorn hair generally produces the most consistent magic, and is least subject to fluctuations and blockages. Wands with unicorn cores are generally the most difficult to turn to the Dark Arts. They are the most faithful of all wands, and usually remain strongly attached to their first owner, irrespective of whether he or she was an accomplished witch or wizard.”

In Whitney’s second year, she was looking through her new books in Diagon Alley when she discovered a shady pet stall. At first she would have walked by, but she realized they were about to kill a sick baby fruit bat that wasn’t selling. Stopping them quickly, she immediately purchased the poor creature, at the cost of one of that year’s books. Naming him Ziggy, Whit nurtured him back to health, and he has remained loyal to her ever since.

At night, he will usually fly away from her to eat and explore, but he always returns in the morning. Though she has a cage for him, Ziggy prefers to sleep inside Whit’s robes, a fact that initially annoyed her but has now come to accept. Some have whispered that she lets him drink her blood throughout the day, but Ziggy’s appetite is restricted to fruit and nectar.

He is known to be very stubborn; in addition, he will sometimes do odd things without rhyme or reason, and any attempt to stop him will be met with astute persistence until he has accomplished his goal. One famous example of this was when a hotheaded Gryffindor sent a tirade of insults to her face. Though Whit was content to remain silent through the ordeal, Ziggy would have none of it, acutely aware of the girl’s rising emotions. Much to her confusion, the bat defiantly crawled his way out of her robe and latched himself onto the side of her head, only to extend a wing and slap the offending tyke in the face.

Despite his nocturnal nature, Ziggy will often wake up several hours before sunset to spend time with Whit as she walks about the school.

Last year, a friend of Whitney’s gave her a beautiful ring as a Christmas present. The gem that adorns it constantly moves like a magical picture, winds blowing gracefully around a snowy forested mountainside.

NAME: ANASTASIA OSWALD

AGE: 17

HAIR: Red

EYES: Blue-Green

PATRONUS: Owl

AFFILIATION: Gryffindor, Hogwarts

WAND: Ebony, Unicorn hair, 11 inches

Anastasia was born in northern Scotland, but was moved to London at the age of eight when her father took a Job at the Ministry of magic as an Auror. Anastasia is an only child, and was raised with the utmost care when it came to Magic and how to act among the family's muggle neighbors. She began to show a magical aptitude during her fourth year of living, allowing for limited training until she was old enough to go to Hogwarts.

During her first year, She was assigned to the Gryffindor house like her parents before her. From the beginning, she showed a proficiency for combat magic, Transfiguration, Potions, Astronomy and Alchemy. After the OWLs in her fifth year, she was put into classes that suited her better, remaining in Transfiguration, Potions, and Alchemy. She explored other topics such as History of Magic, Arithmetic, and Care of Magical creatures becoming good friends with the teacher and the school's resident hippogriff, Buckbeak.

During her years at hogwarts, she has noticed a growing rivalry between supporters of Gelert Grindwald and those who believe he should be stopped. But, now that rumors of Grindwald joining forces with the Nazi's, the divide has only grown. Anastasia has found herself on the allied side of the divide and she believes that Grindwald is a disgrace to the wizarding world and should be stopped before the conflict reaches hogwarts.

Personality

Anastasia prides herself on her ability to control her emotions, a skill which comes in handy when dealing with the insufferable egos of the males at Hogwarts. She doesn't care about what other people say about her, she takes pride in her differences, using them to her advantage as often as she can. Anastasia is not, in most areas, arrogant, though she will willingly agree with a compliment sent her way.

Geraint Yates

[beebox="230px"]

[/beebox]

Age: 18
Height: 1.96 metres (6'5'')
Weight: 90 kilograms (198 pounds)
Patronus: Hasn't Cast One
House: Slytherin
Family Members:
(Ward) of House Greengrass

Seven years. They'd unwound faster than a knockoff magic carpet at Borgins and Burkes. But it shouldn't have been so surprising really. A loved (but not too loved) dependent of a noble family, M. Yates had a languorous dreamlike recollection of his years at Hogwarts. But perhaps we're getting ahead of ourselves. Every story has a beginning a middle and an end, after all...

And in the beginning... He didn't know if there was a midwife or not. Or what color his mother's eyes were. How long his birth took, whether it was all terribly... messy. All he knew was that his father was Lewis Yates, a solicitor of some import for the thriving Greengrass fortunes (something to do with entailed properties? --that bit of the story wasn't terribly interesting.)

Lewis was a melancholic, painfully thin wizard of pure (though undistinguished) blood and with no particular talents to recommend him. He'd been clever and ruthless, of course (he'd hardly have been a solicitor if he wasn't) but the one small portrait of him near the third window from the left of the fifth floor of Greengrass Manor painted him... rather in grey.

During the Summer Hols and with few (none) friends to call on and very little in the way of schoolwork that excited him, Geraint would often conjure a chair and sit and ponder what his father might have been like. Not, I think I should be clear with you, out of a preponderance of sentiment or even a vulgar curiosity but because it seemed to him that his late father was boring.

There wasn't anything wrong with that, he supposed. Most at Hogwarts found him boring or self-absorbed. He wasn't quite invisible --there was a fair bit of the Greengrass fortune riding on him, you see-- but he was certainly not one of the outstanding personalities of the age. And yet his father's biography (what little one could gleam from the Magical Law Society) was all flat. There was no emotional topography, no noteworthy triumphs (not unless one considered the steady acquisition of bowers, manors, chateaus, etc. for the Greengrasses), not even a subtext to it.

Bland. Boredom. And then...

He must have... well we can't speculate and say that he actually fell in love with Geraint's mother, but at the very least he made the wrong decision. Geraint wasn't stupid after all. There must have been something rather objectionable about his mother if her entire being was damnatio memoriae among his caregivers and their Pureblood friends (and what a talent the Pureblood elite have for forgetting.) So that added at least a dollop of colour to his father's exploits.

The last bit of interest about him is that he died. I mean, we all die don't we? All stories do have a beginning a middle, and an end. But poor Lewis Yates died from some sort of curse picked up in the Maghreb. Here, delicate sensibilities and manner demand that we not describe the graphic end of Mr. Yates (not that Geraint hadn't occasionally imagined it, in a visceral flight of fancy) and rather focus on the more prosaic.

And oh, so prosaic it was! Mr. Yates, a chronic hypochondriac, had drawn up a very detailed contract as to what was to be done with The Boy (Geraint, obviously) in the event of his Nasty and Utterly Untimely Death.

And so he'd ended up the unwanted dauphin of House Greengrass.

Geraint knew there was more to the story than that, but his upbringing, one must admit, had never been particularly difficult. Gideon and Callisto, his foster-parents were never unkind, though there was no surfeit of warmth in either of them. He'd never lacked for... anything. And because he was, if one had to look at it objectively, rather a lucky sod the only other Greengrass under the age of majority was Larisa who had been deeply wrong by her gender of birth.

Indeed the Greengrasses have no actual heir at the time being, male primogeniture being an ironclad law of their familial affairs. There was of course, a distant Malfoy cousin, but that would never do, and at any rate, Geraint was a closer Greengrass by both blood (Lewis was a slightly-less distant cousin, as these sort of things go in the Pureblood world) and care.

There was, as there always are in these stories, a bit of a complication though.

You see, Geraint was rather a non-entity as a student.

Oh he wasn't awful at any subject and he certainly wasn't thick. Far from it. But he'd never cultivated more than a polite indifference in the people around him, and at best a studiously delicate contempt for his studies at Hogwarts. What was the point, really, in learning how to defend against the bone-breaking curse if you were likely to die in a bloody desert regardless of being so abashedly boring? How could transfiguring a tortoise into a Louise XV apply to any of the realities of life? Who could possibly care about the intricacies of removing beetle eyes for a Tincture of Nausea Reduction? He'd never been nauseous a day in his life (Geraint's terrifically strong stomach was perhaps his superlative quality)

But while he was not an aristocrat by birth, he couldn't afford to make these sort of indolent principles a hill to die on.

A moral creditor had come to him in the form of a frowning but reserved Gideon Greengrass.

"You'll have to overcome these lurdane tendencies of yours, my boy. We can't... Well you know how men of property ought to act."

And so the challenge was laid out for him.

Earn an Outstanding in a subject. Any subject and he'd remain a sort of heir to Greengrass Manor and sundries.

Fail to distinguish himself and...

Well penury was an interesting sort of story on its own, wasn't it?

Miss de Catria is the only child of Louis-Philippe and Maria-Theresa de Catria. Born into a Norman family of reasonable influence, the young de Catria's family moved to England alongside William the Conqueror in order to explore newer pastures. They have relations to the Malfoy family, a family that also came from France during the Conquest and she grew up with the circle of purebloods. Her father and mother worked for the ministry, her father was an Auror and her mother represents them on the Wizengamot. Thus, her life began with the expectations that as the last member of the main de Catria branch that she is to be an exemplar and hopefully attract a suitable husband to carry on the de Catria line into a respectable family.

Catherine de Catria, upon her entrance into Hogwarts was sorted into Slytherin. Her family tends to be divided along the paternal line amongst Ravenclaw and Gryffindor and in her maternal line as a Slytherin. Thus she followed in the footsteps of her father and joined the House of Godric Gryffindor after a hatstall between Gryffindor and Ravenclaw. Miss de Catria neither excelled or had difficulties in her initial year. But, little did most people know that, Miss de Catria excelled at flying. Her success on the pitch elevated her confidence and she soon began to excel in her magical studies, but had troubles due to how intense the academics of Hogwarts is, but she did finish generally high in her year. She was seen as something of an example and well-liked enough by the majority of the staff to be named Prefect for Gryffindor. For her OWLs, she did reasonably well, earning 4 O's (Charms, Transfiguration, Defence Against the Dark Arts, and Potions, 3 E's ( Herbology, Study of Ancient Runes, and History of Magic, 3 A's (Astronomy, Care for Magical Creatures, and Domestic Magic) , and 1 P (in muggle studies, those darn Muggles and their weird technology)! She decided to go for five NEWTs due to her extracurriculars and clubs (and a desire for a social life). She cannot wait to go and talk to her friends and meet up with them once more. Miss de Catria is noted for her abilities in the requirements to be an Auror. She is a talented witch when it comes to spell-work and her form is noted to be elegant. She has competed in numerous dueling tournaments and placed highly in them and achieved a singular win. She hopes to open up a dueling competition team, but is worried about maintaining a viable schedule due to the intensity of schedule and social commitments. She has shown the ability to cast a corporeal Patronus and is noted for her knowledge in curses, jinxes, and hexes on top of high-level skills in Transfiguration. She is a witch that has great potential and a lot more to learn.

She was a reserve member of the Gryffindor Quidditch Team for her first two years of eligibility, where once she was allowed to take the pitch, she acquitted herself well. Towards the end of the season of her third year, one of the Chasers, Arthur Black took a bludger to the head and was horribly concussed and missed the rest of the season. Catherine excelled and helped lead Gryffindor to a second place finish. Poor Arthur Black left the team due to finishing his education and she became a starting chaser, leading her team to a Cup in her fifth year and another runner up in her fourth. She is also was a member of the Under-17 English National Quidditch Team. She was planning on a try-out with a professional team by the end of her education and hopefully would become a player for the Three Dragons. She owns a Comet 180 Custom, that she ordered specifically to match her characteristics and preferences due to her playing for the Junior England National Team, it is nearly as prized as her wand, so woe to anyone who breaks it.

Ciaran was born the youngest of ten, and the baby brother to nine sisters. The Clearie family lived in a small cottage at the outskirt of a hidden village near the northwestern coast of Ireland. The village he grew up in was called Rook's End, hidden away from mugglekind it served as a longstanding save haven for all manner of magical beings, even some of the ancient fair folk that were so embedded in the local culture's history. Growing up in this tiny little world away from muggles, Ciaran heard many stories of the dangers that lay beyond the village's bounds. He learned how muggles feared and hated all of magical kind so much that they had nearly killed every manner of magical beast and fair folk that had graced the emerald hills since the times of old. These stories would go on to cause him to fear the non-magical world, never wanting to leave his home for fear of the lynchings and burnings that might come.

Not all things were to be feared however, and Ciaran spent much of his early childhood running barefoot through the mud and grass, exploring the forests and caves near his village, even playing mischievous games with the fair folk on other witches and wizards when offered the chance. The sea itself breathed a sense of awe and inspiration that wasn't matched by anything found in the damp caves or secluded forests. And despite all their best efforts, the fairy folk were never able to lure his mind astray from the coastline. By three he knew what it was to swim in the ocean, and the kiss of the cold water against his skin has never truly left his embrace. It wasn't until he was nine that he'd managed to collect enough money to buy some painting supplies, though he'd never managed to afford enough to supply his dream of being an artist and ended up abandoning his talent, having painted over the same canvas to many times.

For the most part his sisters were kind, though on frequent occasions they'd get into fights over who had used whose hair brush or stolen someone's dress, and he'd escape from it all into the garden outback the one bedroom cottage. On warmer nights he'd even sleep right there in the carrots and potatoes. His mother was a skilled herbologist,
or as least skilled enough to be able to feed her large number of children more than scarps. Ciaran would even watch his mother, who was very fond of him, perhaps because he allowed her to get away from her daughters. Nonetheless, she taught him a great many things about a great many plants and the creatures that aided or harmed them. Of course, he'd go on to show a keen interest in the subject while attending his studies at Hogwarts, though he did miss his home.

In the years before attending Hogwarts, the school season was quite at home, Ciaran being a couple years younger than the youngest of his sisters allowed him a short time of peace and quiet, as it did his parents. It wasn't as if he disliked his sisters, but the constant bickering between two or three of them made sure the small cottage was never quit. He'd even run off to read in the shed where no one would look for him but his father when time came for supper. Growing up in restitched handydowns from his army of sisters had been bad enough, but his mother had also presented him with a set of restitched robes for school on his tenth birthday, something Ciaran wasn't to fond off.

Just days before his letter of acceptance to Hogwarts had arrived he'd took a pair of scissors to the robes in a fit of anger, only to end up hiding in the garden crying at the thought of how hurt his mother would be. His eldest sister had arrived the previous day to see him off, having married and moved into the main village a few years prior.
It was she who restitched the robes, never speaking of it again, though once Ciaran had made it to his room in the Slytherin dungeon, he found a brand new set of robes hidden inside his pack with a note from his sister. She'd never taken much of an interest in him when he was younger, and she was someone he'd always looked up too,
but this level of kindness was something he'd never known any of his sister capable of.

He'd complete his first few years achieving nothing of note, he was a horrible flyer, the initial idea of riding a broom seemed outrageous to him and despite his best efforts the skill has forever eluded him, though he no longer falls off, at least not as often. He'd found astronomy interesting enough, but always managed to fail his exams because he would only provide answers that matched with the tales of the fair folk, refusing to learn about what any of the other constellations meant. Though more of an introvert and never one prone to starting a fight, Ciaran proved to be an adequate enough student in DADA, more willing to learn and use hexes and curses then most, and having a keen understanding of how to combat such magics, courtesy those mischievous years with the fairy folk. Where he truly shined was herbology, he grew to hold a deep rooted love for all forms of plant, magical or otherwise.

Now in his sixth year, Ciaran is one of the most knowledgeable students currently enrolled at Hogwarts when it comes to herbology, though outside of this particular class he doesn't tend to stand out. The only other classes he managed to get a high enough grade in to advance to N.E.W.T classes were DADA, Charms, and Ancient Runes,
despite passing both transfiguration and potions, though he ended up falling asleep during his History of Magic O.W.L last year.

Magical Appituity

While only adequately skilled when it comes to producing his own magic, Ciaran is exceptionally gifted in is pursuits of herbology and runic languages and codes. Capable of healing and enhancing the health of just about any plant he gets his hands on, as well as utterly fascinated at what makes magical and non-magical plants different from one another, even going so far as to experiment of growing magical versions of mundane plants. His greatest achievement in this field so far was being able to grow carrots that would glow silver under moonlight, though he was unable to get the plant to replicate itself, and with it being killed accidentally by one of his sisters over the summer, few actually believed him. He also shines when it comes to poisons, both in their antidotes and their other uses. Again, he enjoys theorizing on ways to enhance as well as splice various poisons into more powerful or less poisonous versions. He keeps a journal on him with his notes, written in Ogham of course.

While he's done nothing groundbreaking within the world of Ancient Runes, he's able to read and write in four different runic languages, including Futhark, Dalecarlian, Etruscan, as well as his native Ogham, which he uses to write all his notes in so others can't read them. While not necessarily able to write in other runic languages, he is fairly skilled at translating many others beyond what he is already literate in. A highly detail-centric study, ancient runes fascinate Ciaran almost like a puzzle meant to be solved, though he had no professional aspirations at becoming a runic translator.

Beyond his two primary talents, Ciaran has also shown a proclivity with charms, and their many uses within defense against the dark arts. He might not be the quickest duelist or the most crafty, he can still put up a decent fight should the need arise. Given time to prepare however, and he'll surprise near everyone with what he comes up with. When put in a position where he needs to defend himself, Ciaran can find himself using unconventional magic, even if not particularly difficult or elegant. With a particular aptitude and understanding of some of the more darker hexes and curses due to his time spent playing with the fairy folk of his native lands when he was younger, a group of magical beings who don't care much for the distinction between Dark and regular magic, Ciaran has always had a keener understanding than most into how Dark Magic works and subsequently how to counter it.

The only field of magic that still eludes him is flying, as he's never been one to wish to leave the ground. Years spent attempting to learn only led to more and more broken bones and bruises, eventually flying himself into the Black Lake. A few dozen nasty bites from the Selkies who lived in the lake, as they didn't take to kindly to Ciaran attempting to befriend them as he had the Merrow of Rook's End, ended up with a rescue attempt and Ciaran being banned from both flying on school grounds as well as so much as touching the Black Lake.

While Ciaran has never truly taken an interest in the Dueling Club, he never the less has been challenged or challenged a fellow student to the occasional duel, though he doesn't always win, Ciaran had proven himself to be a talented duelist. Putting skill and ingenuity above flare or complexity, his methods are often subtle and practical, designed to win the duel at hand, not the hearts and minds of his onlookers.
