Heist on Utapau

"Very generous of you, I'm sure." Aerena joked. She opened the first one and peered into the crate. "Spice." She announced. "Kinda disappointing, but it is top quality stuff," she said as she inspected it. " Yeah, even if this is all we find, it sells for a fortune on the black market. Or it used to, anyways." she remarked dryly. Opening the next crate, it was the same thing. She opened two more crates, and was starting to think it was all spice, until she opened up the fifth one. "Well, here's some blasters. I don't know how much one thousand year old blasters will sell for, but we have 'em." There were five more such crates. "Oh. This is slightly more interesting. Thermal detonators." There was only four boxes of those. The next crate held jetpacks, as did three more crates after it. She opened the next crate, and immediately slammed the lid closed. "Oh, joy. We've got worms. I am not opening that crate again. I hope we don't have any more of those. Now what in the galaxy did he want with worms? They've got to be something bad." There was one more crate left.

 

[Venk]

"Worms eh? Lemme take a look. If anything, they gotta look weird after a thousand years. Maybe they're rare and we can sell them for DNA or something!"
Vandis walked over to the crate to open the lid, the excitement in his voice showing. Maybe they could saw a dying race!

(OOC: Dundundundun! The last crate! xD I have no idea what should be in it. Should I try to think of something when I'm not dead tired, or have you got any suggestions? I am completely open to suggestions, 'cause I usually find that other people have better ideas than me. xD)

Aerena shrugged. "Maybe. Whoa! Hey. Uh, sure, but careful. I don't want any of those loose in my ship. I mean really, what if they're carnivorous, or something worse? I sleep in this ship, you know." she said as she stood by while he opened the crate, ready to knock any worms back in if they should try to climb out.

Vandis walked over to the crate and opened it, but he had been ready for the worm. When it leaped out at him, he slammed the lid down on it, severing its head from its body. After that, Vandis laughed and picked up the head.
"I'm gonna look up these worms on my datapad, you keep looking for cool stuff."
Vandis then takes out his data pad, snaps a picture of the worm head and begins his search for information.

\\OOC: Any specifics on the worms, or are they just generic worms?

(OOC: Parasitic worms of a sinister kind. They were an experiment, not natural creatures. Part cybernetic, they could be programmed to do specific tasks. They are designed to kill. They enter a being's skull, usually through the nose, and attack the brain. Or they could just be a now rare species of worm that would be worth a lot of credits to a group interested in preserving the species. Your call. xD)

Aerena nodded. "I just hope it's cool stuff that I find, and more preferably, worth credits." She walked to the last crate and opened it. "Oh, yeah. Hutt treasure still worth credits around here?"

"Attention Corellians, this is Kalo. My contact hasn't arrived and it's getting late-- gear up and return to the hotel room." Kalo said over the commlink. He put a backpack on, and brought two more small packs that he fastened to his waist with a belt. As for weapons, a single blaster was tucked into his jacket. Ideally, they wouldn't be needed.

Not having a comlink, Aerena didn't hear the communication. She looked through the crate's contents, fingering the rare jewels- or once rare jewels, anyway. She had no idea what had happened in the last thousand years. Maybe they weren't rare anymore, though she doubted that.

((Whoops sorry guys didn't notice you had posted))

Vandis held his hand up to his helmet communicator and said, "Copy that, sir."
He then turned to Aerena, and watched her play with the jewels.
"If only I knew how to make light sabers...I'm sure those would be great for them." Vandis wondered at what it would be like to be a Jedi, to fight Sith, uphold peace; 'sounds like too much work'. Vandis shakes his head, and says,
"The boss wants us back at the hotel now. We should get going."

Aerena shrugged. "I think you have to have a certain kind of jewel for a lightsaber, but I'm not sure. I don't know a whole lot about that stuff." She closed the crate. "Good. Let's go then." She stood and walked for the ship's exit.

Vandis exited the ship and started making his way back to the hotel, but kept in pace with Aerena. He still wondered what had made her want to come here and do this heist...so he asked her.
"So why did you come here? You don't seem the type of person who would...um...want to do this type of job."

Aerena looked at Vandis in surprise as they approached the hotel, then laughed. "I don't? Oh. Well, like I said, I was planning on stopping on a nearby planet, I heard the message and I thought I could use some credits. He didn't actually say it was a heist in the message. I found out what it was, I still needed credits, and I thought it might be fun. So I agreed to it. It wasn't like I had anything else to do. I guess stealing isn't my favorite job, but I don't mind it too much if I need the credits, and I like the thrill."

 

[Venk]

((Sorry, sorry, I need to pay more attention!))

Vandis smiled under his helmet and said, "Credits are nice, especially when they're yours. Again, sorry about...earlier. Maybe later we'll go through the cargo again, pick out the cool stuff for ourselves and move on."
After Vandis said this, they reached the hotel. Vandis led Aerena back to Kalo's room and waited for his instructions.

As the two entered the hotel, Kalo had already cleared the room of any traces of their presence. "While you two were out, I went ahead and cleaned up. The hotel attendant from earlier will say that he's never seen us before. We're all set for a completely clandestine mission. If you two are ready, we can head to the lift now."

It was clear that Kalo didn't own much. All of his backpacks were empty, and the only weapon he had was a single blaster he wore under his jacket. In truth, he'd only been a free man for a handful of days now. A lot of his future rested on him getting cleared out with the Hutts, but it was clear that he was more than just desperate-- he was ambitious.

And eager to get to work.

Vandis straightened his helmet and pulled out his pistol.
"Okay, so the plan is you two get in, retrieve however many eggs, then when you come out, I cover you? Or..."
Vandis paused for a moment and nodded his head.
"If it means more credits, I'd be willing to go down with you...to get the eggs. If I empty my pack, I could take two. I can also have my droid store our stuff in my ship, so we'll be carrying as little as possible."

Aerena nodded before they entered the hotel. As she followed Vandis to Kalo's room, she was full of anticipation for the heist. When they arrived, Kalo was ready to go. She listened as he updated them. "Ready, Captain." she replied. "Except for a backpack. I don't have one. If you have an extra I'd be more than willing to carry one." Listening to Vandis, she nodded, liking the idea. That would be an additional 8,000 credits for them to split.

Kalo tossed each of them a backpack. "You better be as good with that rifle as you think you are, Vandis." he said with a half-smile. When he threw one to Aerena, he was already walking to the door.


He began explaining as they left the hotel. "Now, if Vandis is coming, we might have to refine things a little bit. The produce level is long and deep, but if Vandis is escorting us out then he'll need a place to land his ship. I'm not about to carry all these eggs up the lift to the Wealth Level just to escape. There'll be a tower in front of the Produce Level's landing pads. Everything is automated these days, but I scoped one out before you guys got here. There is a single droid who watches for unauthorized ship landings. I'm going to play lookout, you go up the tower and take that droid down. Then we'll secure the pad so Vandis can land his ship. After it's landed, we'll have a small time-window to break through the farm and into the Varactyl pens. Understood?"


When that was all done, he gestured for Aerena to follow him, and gave Vandis a farewell-salute. "Go get your ship and meet us on the landing pad."

 

[Venk]

"You got it. I'll be hovering around, you just comm me and tell me when to land. Once I do land, I'll have my droid keep the ship running. That way as soon as we're aboard we can escape." With that, Vandis saluted them both and ran out to his ship, talking to his droid over their channel. Afterwards, Vandis' ship would fly around aimlessly for a bit until Vandis got the word from Kalo.

"Understood, Captain. Just one thing," Aerena said before returning Vandis's salute. "If we have to break a window to get into the pens, the scientists will know I'm not supposed to be there, and they'll just raise the alarm if they see me. So maybe I should just use my blaster to force one of them to open an incubator, unless I try to convince someone from the farm to let me into the Varactyl pens."
