An old man stood in front of one of the many abandoned tombs of Korriban, a crooked smile behind his old mask as he took in the scenery. The galaxy had changed so much since the last time he had been on the planet. He was a sith before the empire was formed and he was a sith now that the empire had kicked them out. It was inevitable, really, there was a reason he really never played along with the empire idea, he knew trying to be more than the galaxy's despoilers would come back to bite them eventually.

The worst part of it, however, was the desecration of Korriban, so much culture and history lost to people that didn't care about it and wouldn't even dare to use it, it really was a shame. However, even though the imperials had taken so much, Jerex knew they had not taken everything, he just needed to look a bit deeper and get a bit more imaginative...There's more to power than just normal artifacts, and the old knight of Ren was planning on making this the first step towards gaining more.

Today, he was leading an expedition to the abandoned tomb of a sith lord by the name of Darth Morik, a sorcerer, an alchemist and a master of the dark side that had passed away thousands of years ago. He was not the kind of sith that left his knowledge around, neither did he have known artifacts lying around, but he had still things to give...As long as they managed to get to his corpse, which would be the difficult part. Jerex hoped his little hiking group would prove sufficient for this. It was a risky expedition, but in the pursue of power and knowledge, nothing was too risky.

Another "expedition." He wondered if this one was going to end like the last one: with the leader vanishing suddenly without any explanation. Seemed to be pretty par for the course, and after his brief time returned to the Sith, he could see why his master had left.

Well, another outing, another slim chance for him to learn something. He had his own set of skills, but the arcane wasn't really among them. Sure, he knew how to use the Dark Side, but that wasn't the same as calling on long forgotten sorcery or twisting together a macabre mixture of science and darkness. He had least had the insight to know what he wasn't good at and learn a smidgeon about it.

He had arrived in his helmet and robes to the planet, his saber hanging from his belt. The heat of the day all but scorched him through his robes, building up anger and frustration with the discomfort. He was miserable, and that was intentional. No progress came without pain.

You're not planning to bail halfway through the expedition, are you? he asked the man leading it. Oh yeah, you could tell this guy did the arcane stuff. There was absolutely no chance of him ever blending into any crowd outside of "serial killers R us."

The old man turned his head towards Kaldar, a creepy smile of amusement forming behind the equally creepy mask that covered his face, the fact that he felt the need to ask made it pretty obvious that this was something that had certainly happened in the past "I don't plan on doing so, no" He would say, a small chuckle coming from him before pausing for a moment "But, huh...If I do suddenly "bail" or you just lose me, I do recommend you do the same, we aren't exactly in the friendliest of places." Jerex would add before starting to walk.

It was obvious the man was not exactly in the best physical conditions, even after all these years, an old spine injury related to a fight with a couple jedi had left him a bit sluggish when it came to walking...At least whenever he was not using the force to compensate, he could be a bit faster in a pinch, when it was needed, but physical combat was not his strength, not at his strength at the very least.

"So, Darth Morik" The sorcerer would break the silence once more "There are plenty of sith lords that mastered the dark arts, but all of them have something that sets them apart, taking the knowledge they found and making something out of it" The knight of Ren would say, giving a bit of exposition about the man whose tomb they were about to visit "Morik? He was an alchemist, a sorcerer, one that dabbled in...Physical alteration" Jerex paused for a moment, looking around as they slowly got deeper and deeper, giving his words a moment to sink in, it was obvious teaching about such subjects was something he enjoyed.

"But not in the same vein's to that of abominations, it was more...refined, augmentations that he could do to himself and keep his mind intact. Of course, he made himself a bit "better" when it came to strength and such, but his magnus opus was turning himself into a better conduit of the dark side itself" An admirable effort, something the old man deeply respected, something he would probably try at one point if he could.

"While other sith created artifacts to aid them with the dark arts, his "artifact" was his augmented right hand, it allowed him to drain of energy anything with greater effectiveness than any other sith of his age...And he used that energy to fuel his experiments to greater effect than any normal sacrifice." Jerex finished his explanation, looking back at Kaldar once more "And yet he's one of the less known lords, funny how it goes, huh? So many great discoveries this ability may as well be a footnote in the history of the galaxy." He would add, maintaining that jovial tone that would sound innocent in anyone else, he was simply overjoyed after getting to do that exposition.

Hm, they never plan do, Kaldar said dryly. Not that it was this guy's fault, but Kaldar didn't really care one way or another. Whether he was making a joke or being serious wasn't entirely clear.

Yes, Kaldar could imagine that this place wasn't exactly the nicest location. Sith had bred plenty of warbeasts that still lived here, and the Dark Side had left its taint on the rest of the wildlife that had managed to survive the desert wastes. It was a thoroughly unpleasant planet.

Kaldar listened to the history lesson without saying a word for the moment. He had a great deal to say about this Sith Lord, but the man wasn't wrong: Kaldar had never heard of him.

His right hand? As in literally? he asked. He didn't imagine that it was an artifact since the other Sith had just talked about how he wasn't into artifacts.

Drain energy from what? And what's his tomb like? I assume that's where we're going, he conjectured.
