Mira turned to her new found companion. Who's name she couldnt not remember, that was if the man had even told her it. Her face was still contorted in a mask of concern, as would be even the mightiest veterans of war and pestillence. The gore was strewn all around her, a bastion of humanoid anatomy.

''I think....i-i-i think we should split up...cover more ground....agreed?'' was all she said.

While attempting to fix the lights Justin managed to find the main the main switch but instead of a steady flow of soft white light, all the primary hallway lights started flickering on and off making the whold place even more errie

It took Marcus a second to look away from the gore splattered walls and back towards Mira. "You want us to split up on a station that did all this," he indicated towards a particularly gruesome area of the wall that still had chunks of flesh clinging to it, "I do not know about you but right now I think we should stick together so that at least we can keep from getting easily ghosted." He then stepped out of the room and back into the hallway trying to decide where to go next.

''It would serve as a way to draw the potentail attacker out, take this and we can communicate with eachother. I bet we're not alone, but we could find them much easier if we split up'' said Mira, handing him a small com link.

She also stepped outside, even a veteran of space, who was still a girl couldn't take in what she had just witnessed.

Marcus shook and sighed. He then pointed up at the ceiling only a few meters down the hall. "Do you see that? That is a vent, they are all over the ship and I doubt that this place has any sensors in the ventilation system so even if we could get into a control center it would not help us." He then turned back towards Mira, "Most sentient beings could not fit in there, but based on what I just saw in there we are not dealing with your average sentient being. Now if we go off on our own we could easily get ghosted if there is something in those vents. If we stay together we can cover each other. Plus, that is just one of countless possibilities that could result in both of our deaths."

''Agreed, Hopefully we can find a log or a survivor to tell us what happened in this palce'' she said, shouldering her blaster rifle.

She started to take point, but noticed her companion right beside her. She smiled mockingly and decided to take the rear instead.

Can't expect to get everything right the first time. she thought.

Marcus noticed that Mira moved from being beside him to behind him. He he smirked juat a little bit behind his helmet's face plate. He then moved swiftly and efficiently down the hallway making it to the next corner in a few moments. Stopping for a second at the corner he did a quick check around the edge making sure nothing was waiting. He then began to talk to Mira, "I never told you my name did I? Sorry about being so rude. My name is Marcus."

''Mira'' was all she said, with a curt nod. She decided to manouver forward, leaving Marcus at her rear. Ahead there was a heavily reinforced door, covered in gore and blood just as the lab in the previous room had been. Although vomit and other materials could be seen aswell. Mira's stomach churned but she cautiously walked towards the door.

There where large indents, looking like humanoid fists, but the door was made of an impenetrable alloy...this baffled the Miralukan. Something was trying to force this door open and yet where destroying themselves in the process.

She pressed a button on the side of her rifle, a plasma torch ignited at the buisness end and she set to torching the door open, while markus covered her sixth.

After a long uncomofrtable few moments the door was succesfully cut through. She stood back allowing her companion to kick the door though. It landed and a blood churning screech could be heared inside.

It was a human male, looking like it hadn't eaten in days. Covered in blood and other unspeakable gore. He looked petrified his entire body shaked violently.

''F...F-f-finally...yo--your ....here'' said the man, fearing for his life.

Mira was genuinely concerned for the man, and yet she knew better to draw near him. Afterall he could be the one who had caused this mess. But none of it made sense. She kept her rifle pointed at the man. She noticed a computer terminal in the corner of the room. She motioned towards it to her companion.

All the while wonderign just what in holy hell was going on.

Giving a nearly impercetible nod he began to move towards the terminal while keeping his gun cautiously on the survivor. Although he doubted the man was a serious threat, but considering the condition of the doorway they just went through he was not about to take any chances. He was also not about to put Mira in too much danger so he kept an eye on the doorway behind her to make sure that nothing snuck up on her. Upon reaching the terminal he tried to activate it and at first tried to activate it but although the screen became activated no data came on. "Mira you got any tricks that might help with this terminal?"

''Not me, but someone else might.'' said Mira.

She then revealed a comm link in the areas of her armour around her wrist. She pressed a few buttons and suddenly it sparked to life, and a comical upright voice sounded throught the room.

''Master, is that you?'', came the voice of Mira's personal droid, that was currently situated onboard her ship.

''Yes M, ive got a terminal here, any chance you could remote hack it from where you are?'' she replied.

The droid said nothingf, but suddenly the terminal also sprang to life, and the image of a droids face could be seen upon it.

''That was quick said Mira. M1 can you send us all the info you have in those files? We're going to go explore the ship...probably take this guy with us. Just contact me as soon as you have more info.

Marcus, you up for finding just where in the hell all the people are?'' she said.

"Not really. I am more interested in gaining control of this station. I figure that right now being able to open doors, getting the oxygen scrubbers running, and turning on the gravity will be priority. Once we control this station we can even call for help if we need." Marcus looked over at their one known survivor. "I also am pretty sure that based on all the blood and organs around we know where most people already are."

Mira Nodded. She was trying to have her new found companion underestimate her, she still wasn't sure about him, she was never really sure about anyone. And she knew to always be on her guard. Even in front of potentail friends.

''Your right, you. What happened here? You better tell me, or my friend here will make you tell me.'' she said, with a gesture in Marcus's direction.

The survivor...if you could call it that, wore a lab coat. He had an insignia upon his lab coat, of some private company or another. He wore no name tag, or it had been ripped of as his clothes where completely tattered and torn.

His eyes where distant, framed by his ghostly white features. Mira had never seen fear and cowardice like she was witnessing before her.

The man seemed calmer now that ever so slightly friendly faces had turned up.

''You...you shouldn't have come....they'll find you..find you like they did the rest of my team....so much blood...you wouldnt think al that blood could come from one person...or even all seven of the lab workers....'' said the man, smiling. Which concerned Mira.

''Start making sense!'' roared Mira, pressing her rifle against his knee cap. All of this had her on edge and she didn't need cryptic memories from a petrified scientist.

''Sense? None of it made sense...the artifact we found...it was biological...yet it survived for so long in space....we studied it...seven of us...and the soldiers that protected the station....but the artifact...it did something...to all of us. The change was slow at first...only affecting a few...headaches...insomnia.

Then things really started to change...physical...alterations you could say. Depending on the victim...it was more rapid for some...slow for others.

There attributes increased...but physically...they mutated...horibble manifestations...creatures....flesh and bone exposed...

..but i escaped! I sealed myself in here..they found me at first..but i guess i didn't interest them.....


But now you've opend the gates of hell...by opening this door you've surely brought death upon us! They're better then us, faster, stronger....even smarter!!!

Leave this place! While you still can!'' the man roared, his voice being elevated by something..suddenly his eyes began to glimmer, his face contorted in utter rage.

Mira began to step back, she was concerned for the man, he had obviously seen horros beyond her own comprehension...and yet it puzzled her to how she survived in the first place.

She looked to Marcus, obvious concern upon her features.

Marcus came over the the survivor and stood beside Mira"We need to know how many soldiers and other personnel were here. How many creatures are there? What are the creatures like physically? How can we gain control of the station's control systems." Marcus did not like where this was going. From what the man said it seemed that a mutagenic virus had managed to get past all safety systems to infect several people. The virus then had an effect on the people's cognitive abilities causing them to go mad and kill many other people there.

 

[Kaeb]

''Master, I've found some...unpleaseant infromation'', came a voice emitting from the terminal.

Suddenly video images, and holo shots appeared all around the room. Emitting from corners in the wall. The room appeared to be some kind of surveilanc archive room. Designed to put the user in the scene.

And what they witnessed wasn't pretty. They pretty much answered the questions that Marcus had asked the petrified doctor.


The images persisted, showing grotesque mutations, and showing images of the artifact.

The artifact was found floating in deep space, just outside the mid-rim. The scientist where intrigued that it was a biological organism, that could survive for so long in space. What they didn't realise was that it was a mutation.

And unstable mutation.

The images persisted for awhile. Dictating the spread of the mutation, and it's unpredictable changes that took place in the atmosphere of the station.

Thus mutating the scientist's, and thus the scientisy killing and spreading the disease throughout the personell of the private station.

The images where so gruesome that Mira just couldn't take it anymore, she shot the holo emitters with her blaster rifle. This shocked the other two men, but they seemed to understand that the images where too much.

''M1....I'm sorry for my temper...but could you please set to restoring power?

look's like we'll have to set to killing each of these things off. Then we can take whatever booty this station has to offer.

Any objections?...after the lights are back on of course.'' she said.​

"No, no objections." Marcus was rather stunned by what he saw. The mutations had been truly extreme. He had seen men die from guns, blasters, viruses, and even radiation. This was something far different though. These creatures where something he had never encountered before and clearly had the abilities to kill countless people.

"Have your droid contact us once we can get a message out. I want to have some of my people prepare an extermination team for use on this place. We cannot allow anything infected by that thing out of here." Marcus then realized something. "Mira we have been sitting here a while, why exactly are we still not under attack?"

Justin was suddenly looking at something very ugly and very angry that apperently belived him it's next toy Justin fired his gun six times at it before returning the weapon to it's holster and drawing his fathers light saber as the green blade jump to life to defend him more "things" showed up Justin began hopeing help would show up Soon

Now things were realy get desprite Justin spotted an opening and charged throught to his ship and lunched in to space but didn't leave he waited incase someone there needed help

Mira nodded. Why hadn't they attacked yet...unless.

Suddenly the scientist's eyes glimmered yet again and his face contorted and morhped into a horribly grotesque mask. He roared an inhuman scream that rocked the very fibre of her being. Her ears burst into a fit of pain and she fell to the ground.

The Scientist was becoming one of them, the others must have antiticipated this. The scientist ripped off his vaccum suit and even though he was then exposed to space he seemed to move on. He lunged toward her accomplice and yet she couldn't get to him.


She screamed.

For s plit second Marcus was stunned by the scientists transformation. He saw as the creature charged him. He heard as Mira screamed to him. Time seemed almost to slow down for a moment as he brought his shotgun to bear on the former scientist. Then just as it reached him he fired. The blast from the shotgun did not seem to do much harm, but it did send it flying backwards. Two more rounds were fired straight into the creatures gut with little effect except to send it back against the wall. "How do we stop this thing!?" Marcus yelled at Mira while preparing his backup plan. If he could not kill it he could at least buy time for Mira to escape.
