EDIT: Also, had a thought for why ODSTs could be included. The power in the military is slowly being taken over by the SPARTAN IVs, and NAVSPECWAR isn't liking that their star boys (the ODSTs) are being left out of this and they muscle their way into the op. Sound good?

Yeah I thought that'd be a good dynamic. Could spark a whole new rivalry between the Spartans and ODSTs. I'm letting any normal human character have their own NPC team if you lot want to make profiles for them. I'll be using three PC's

Commander Olivia "Ellie" Ellis: Unceremoniously take from her team of Spartan IV's to lead the Spartan detachment in the fleet. Former marine who was one of the first wave of Spartan IV's after seeing Master Chief in action during the war

Hound: The only thing with more black than his file is his armor. A Spartan II with a classified past he exclusively works for ONI.

Varha 'Ratumee: Leader of the Covenant forces for this joint operation. Has no problem with humans and ready to destroy whatever is on the Halo ring

Soz. I'm thinking that the beginning of the rivalry will stem from Lt. Davidson's denied entrance into the SPARTAN IV program. An embittered ODST with a grudge against SPARTANs? Combined with two old breed ODSTs (Gunnys Perez and Hill) who have their problems with SPARTANs. Maybe a little softened in Perez's case? This could also lead to the Company CO, Davidson, actively defying Commander Ellis' orders. This could add friction between the SPARTANs and ODSTs, and end in things going seriously wrong. Along with whatever you have planned

Working on a character. How far are the ranks going? I mean, what is the highest we can go or that is allowed?

So is it canon that ODST's are becoming obsolete, or is this fanfic? Because I don't understand why they are going obsolete, I won't argue the fact, it would just be nice if someone explained it.

In halo 4 we see vary few ODST's because infinity is home base to the S-IV project, but ODST's are not obsolete most S-IV's were ODST's or have ODST pasts, as well as made up of the most promising of all the other branches that apply to the spartan program.

Also working on my fireteam right now hope to have them up soon caught me off guard and only have one drawing done for the team might have to pull from other sources for initial character posts.

To me they'd be obsolete under the idea that Spartan's are already pretty damn elite, they have all their training and then some, and ODST's have the option to become Spartan IV's. That's just me though.
