"Hackers, often located in eastern Europe"

Hackers...hackers... To hack something in the real world, you use a sharp object. Sharp objects... Teeth can be sharp objects. Pointed teeth are sharp objects. This was stolen from a church. A church is a house of God. Churches are hallowed ground where the unholy can't set foot upon.

The hackers are vampires.

Cynicism doesn't make you mature or enlightened. To not believe this story is naive and plays into paranoia. The news media is biased but it doesn't just make stuff up.

Am I immature and ignorant, and also naive?

Edit: I'm also curious of where did all that came from, all of the sudden

I don't like comments like "I don't believe what the media tells me," so I was expressing my opinion over what you said. It's a naive point of view to think that the media is just lying to you.

By saying you don't believe most of the media, which is a) cynical, and b) naive.

I disagree, but i respect your opinion. In my experience, they more than often tell only half the truth, and believing it as it comes its not wise if you take it as the only truth.

I asked Bac, not you.

Yes, I believe that's referred to as journalistic fraud. The media, however slanted and tendentious, still has a legal obligation to present fact. Reminds me of the film 'Shattered Glass'. Watch it. :CStern

I never called you immature. I said that being cynical doesn't make you mature, i.e. it doesn't make you look more mature or smarter than you really are.

That said, I do find that point of view to be ignorant. They do often only tell the half truth, but a half truth is still a truth, just incomplete, and they're not outright lying to you. But that's not because they're malicious or out to lie to you. The bias of the mainstream media isn't conservative or liberal or anything political, their bias is laziness and sensationalism. They tell half truths because it's easier than actually doing the hard work of journalism.

And really, that's just TV. Newspapers, while a dying breed, are not the same.

So really, to hardly believe anything in the media, such as a story about hackers stealing from a church, because you think the media is either not telling you the full story or lying to you is just paranoia. This is a clear cut, black and white story, not something that requires hard hitting journalism.

IMO, based on the SW prequels and a number of other movies, Hayden Christensen is a horrible actor, but somehow he made a fluke and gave a really good performance in that movie.

That's really unfortunate that that happened, hopefully the money is raised again. Goddamn vampire hackers.

@Samara: The news or media can't outright lie about what they're reporting: Like Bac said it's biased, differentiating opinions means they'll want to report on a prejudicial stand point.

I myself am a pretty cynical person, I believe what I want to believe; my mental states are the only mental states that exist (solipsism if you will.) However, Bac wasn't calling you immature or ignorant, he was merely saying believing that everything the media says is wrong and anecdotal is a cause for cynicism and naivete. There's a difference between ignorance and innocence, and quite frankly I agree with what Bac said. Don't take it to heart. Actually do take it to heart, it's how Bac gets his power.

I'll take that as a no

Never either said he did, just asked him if I was.

On the other, to believe so automatically and systematically would be naive indeed. On both ends.

Yeah...but he's extreeeemely sexy. I absolutely adored Life as a House, he wasn't too bad in that at all, and it was pre-SW films. Also, Awake is an amaaazing movie and he was quite good in that too. I mean, I guess anyone would have been hard pressed with lines like "I hate sand. It's rough, and coarse, and irritating...and it gets everywhere". I may be biased however because he's just really really really good-looking.

I used to attribute his acting to the Lucas dialogue until I saw him in other movies, where he's still just as wooden as he was in Star Wars. Natalie Portman's performances, though, can absolutely be attributed to the scripts. She's an Academy Award winning actress so obviously she's good, but her performances in Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith just highlighted how bad the dialogue was, how much her character lacked depth, and how bored she clearly was.

Her only good Star Wars performance was The Phantom Menace, because it was the only prequel film with reasonably good dialogue, a well-paced and generally good story, and good depth and material for Amidala.

I don't get how the bank couldn't undo this transaction. This kind of shit happens all the time. It can usually be electronically reversed.
