OVERVIEW
Gravenell City is the capital and largest city on Sevenmoon. Given the moon’s lack of atmosphere, the city complex consists of a greater dome in its center, serving as the core of the metropolis, with other outlying structures, smaller in comparison.

Within the Velusia system located in the Core Worlds, Gravenell was primarily purposed for trade, functioning in a similar way to a space station, only on a larger scale and being located on a barren moon.

The settlement grew into a city like any other, only being largely located inside a dome. For this reason, most who visit do so on business if not pleasure, or otherwise prefer a location with no outside atmosphere and no view of a sky.

Most who live in Gravenell were born there, dwell there out of heritage or consequence, as with their employment or not having the means to leave. Whatever the reason, Gravenell City, despite its name, is no grave. It lives, it survives, and it thrives in more than one instance.

LAYOUT

Gravenell’s primary structure is a large dome which houses the majority of its elements, whether permanent inhabitants or visitors, and structures of every considered function. The dome includes facilities both above the surface and below, ranging from warehouses to commercial centers, offices to convention centers, hotels, schools, etc.

Surrounding the dome are other facilities, namely shipyards and a central spaceport with tugs tethered to the dome that take passengers to and fro. Outlying warehouses, factories, power plants and laboratories also make up these outlying structures.

Rapid transit to and within the dome is generally dependent on pedicabs amid tube stations scattered throughout the city, above and below the surface.

Otherwise, pedestrians walk promenades, floors and corridors like open-air streets in comparison, if with ceilings instead of skies, and aerial illusions sometimes.

HISTORY

The stories of Gravenell’s foundation vary. One is that its inception begins with an engineer, Lukius Gravenell, who wanted a private settlement, determining few would think to visit a moon with no atmosphere.

Over time and with a leap in progress, the settlement grew and served as a trade hub, expanding from there as more visitors settled down and the settlers already present made families.

There is otherwise nothing especially remarkable about the city. Though it has plenty of establishments, markets and venues, including one of the largest gardens and aquariums of any city given its lack of environmental views, rife with entertainment such as casinos, cantinas and clubs, it also has a deep criminal presence within its underworld.
