DESCRIPTION​

Although Rendili StarDrive was originally a major capital warship manufacturer for the Republic, the Sith have placed heavy restrictions on the construction of such vessels for independent sale; thus, over the last 500 years, Rendili has been forced to diversify into non-military markets. The Gorath-class bulk freighter is one of the company's more successful offerings to the civilian cargo transport market, being an almost ubiquitous sight in starports the Galaxy over.

120 meters in length, able to carry 600 standard tons of cargo with a crew of 15, the Gorath is a favorite of commercial fleet operators, and is used by many large interstellar shipping firms. The ship's interior space is primarily devoted to its cavernous internal cargo holds, leaving only cramped, spartan accommodations for its crew and passengers. The Gorath is equipped with a small hangar, suitable for a single shuttle, which can be used for transferring cargo and/or personnel between ships, or to and from a nearby planet or space station. Of note, due to the hangar's placement and accommodations, it is not well suited to the rapid launching or recovery of starfighters, although a single such craft can be carried in place of the shuttle if desired.

Gorath-class freighters are equipped with light shielding and a single light laser turret, but should not be considered combat spacecraft in any but the most general sense. The cannon is just about good enough to blow up space junk or fend off the less determined species of pirate, and the shields are mainly intended to protect the ship from rocks and radiation. Nevertheless, pirates and other outlaw groups have been known to modify Gorath-class freighters to serve as commerce raiders.

LEGALITY​

Legal. Gorath-class freighters are a common sight across the Galaxy, and they are considered innocuous enough in most systems. However, these vessels tend to be used by fleet operators. Due to their size, they are generally considered to be capital ships, making personal ownership difficult for the average individual.
