Eadu
18:00 Hours
Kaepleon Research Facility

Gods of War

Eadu was home to some of the most prominent, known, research facilities in the Galaxy. However, few facilities were even capable of the research that the Kaepleon Facility performed in particular. Kyber Crystals were the prominent focus of testing, and the Empire desired that kind of research in order to keep the War Machine ticking and rolling over the Empire's enemies. The two lucky bastards sent to the planet were Angela Aldaine and Artello Kulfar on behalf of the Sith Empire.

Their approach was fine to begin with, but the ride became violent once the Imperial Fighters dropped into the lower atmosphere where the storm torn surface of the planet became prominent. The rains eroded pillars of stone that were sharp enough to cleave an inexperienced pilot in two. Thankfully, the trade route was known by the Empire into this particular facility, and there wasn't much of an issue with avoiding many of the spires of death, but it still subjected the pilots to the hard tirade of rain that pelted the hull of the ships.

Sensors must have sensed the two of them coming, because the landing pads were illuminated conveniently as well as a host of what seemed to be private security was present to greet them in the heavy rains. It wasn't much effort after coming into the shelter of the cove of rocks that partially protected them from the buffeting winds of the storm. The hiss of the cab opening was quickly drown out by the onslaught of water on the hull of the ship and the landing platform that hung precariously on the edge of an abyss.

Artello's hands were free as he exited the craft amongst the dozen or so armed security guards. It was a show of his presence being peaceful, although the bare hands of a Sith meant nothing as to show a lack of lethality. With a single thought, they could all be wiped off the platform into the abyss, but that didn't serve any benefit to Artello unless they deemed him a threat and decided to take him under arrest of their feeble forces; However, Artello suspected they already knew the power of the Force if they worked in a Facility that specialized in the extensive research of Kyber Crystals.

Already only a moment in the Typhoon-esque weather and Artello knew he was soaked. He could barely see out of his helmet and he felt as if the finish on the visor of his helmet didn't mean a thing when considering the water came in so fast that slipping right off the visor simply wasn't fast enough. Artello only had to wait for the director of the facility, or whoever was in charge, to invite them in though. In fact, Artello wasn't all too dissatisfied with the weather though. It actually reminded him a bit of home, where the Tropics he lived in were frequently hit by rain storms of such a magnitude. The only difference is that Artello doubted he'd be able to smell the petrichor, because a planet constantly hounded by rain wouldn't be able to release enough of the oils in the rocks. Regardless, he wasn't here for the view.

Finally, the group of security parted to reveal a man wrapped in what was clearly a water proof garment like a cloak to greet them. Artello's audio picked his voice out of the heavy downpour and Artello struggled to hear it, but what he could make out was promising thus far, "I am Markus Rit, Head of Security for the Kaepleon Research Facility. I must apologize, we weren't expecting visitors, but we will be a accommodating as we can while you visit. Please follow me inside."

Artello nodded, having gotten the gist of his greeting, "Thank you Markus. I am Artello, and we come on behalf of the Sith Empire."

Angela hated rain, it got everywhere and was irritating. Unfortunately for her, the planet in which she was sent to was constantly being rained upon. so much that the landscape had eroded to fit the will of the water, forming a bed of nails, if you will. She had made sure to bring something that had some sort of water-resistance, but now that she was in the midst of it all, she knew it wouldn't be enough.

She stepped out into the rain alongside her colleague, Artello. She looked up at the larger man and envied his suit, it may not keep all the water out, but it would do more for him than Angela's current choice of attire. She pulled tight the cloak around her, the material did it's best to keep the water out, but eventually, it was pasted to her side, and water began to seep through down the left side of her body.

As the other man came out of the facility, her eyes brightened in hopes of being lead inside. She carried but one weapon on her person, that being a saber she had won in a duel to the death a few years back. The blade was green in color, the sith she had won it from had pilfered it off of a fallen Jedi. She liked to only bring this saber to missions such as this, her double bladed saber was too valuable and created a more threatening look, which she did not want on this mission.

She followed the two men inside, thankful to be out of the rain. She pulled off the hood of the cloak, letting her soaked hair to be free. As the group moved their way through the halls, if Angela started condensing the Force around her body, transforming it into heat so that she would dry off. If a guard of her colleague looked at her closely enough, they would see a thin blanket of steam rising off of her as the water evaporated from her body.

Artello watched as the rain steamed off of Angela as she exited her own craft. It was a clever use of the Force, and he was sure it would cause a bit of unease in some of the security guards that were already wavering their sights on them by the command of their leader of whom was already facing them across the walkway to the facility.

To get inside was relieving, and just as he thought, the smell of petrichor was absent in the air as the hiss of his helmet was removed and clipped onto the back of his belt. getting a good look around, the young Lord of Ord Cantrell was pleased by what he saw. It was quite accommodating to visitors. It was spacious as well, likely to be appeasing to potential investors.

The head of security dispersed many of the guards, keeping only a few of them with him to keep an eye on them, and already, Artello could feel the anxiety in the guards as they were left with thinned numbers against the intimidating Sith presented upon them. However, the head of security, Markus, didn't seem very concerned. Artello let a curve form on the corner of his mouth as Markus began to speak.

"So, to what do I owe the pleasure of your visit Master Sith?"

Artello was used to the charms of others to gain his approval, but the compliment wasn't lost on him even if he wasn't a Master, but merely the ordinary run of the mill Sith. However, acknowledging the pleasantries seemed to be more of a waste of time than anything else. Instead, Artello chose to answer his question.

A few months earlier, the Empire was clever enough to "Convince" their former investors to back out, and in order to prevent the cautionary tale of the convenience of the Sith just showing up right after losing investors as well as to let them sit in the panic of lost investors, the Empire waited before dispatching the two Sith. They were present to make an offer to them for funding by the Empire. I turn, all of their research would be exclusive to the Empire. However, Artello wasn't one to reveal the entire plan first thing in the conversation. It was why he was one of those chosen to confront the Facility is due to his experience in negotiating, being the son of a prominent Lord from Ord Cantrell.

"We are here to explore the Empire's options," he responded coolly.

Of 'course, Markus knew what he was referring to being that they intended to offer funding to their facility if they could wow them. That took the pressure off the two of the Sith and put it onto them instead. It seemed that Markus had notified the Facility's director who arrived in short order to greet them.

"Hello, I am Director Orval. I wasn't expecting to meet with anyone today. Is there anything we can do for you two today?" he said as if he was in a hurry. He wasn't fooling anyone with his futile attempts to cover his heavy breathing from likely running across the entire base. However, it was his lingering on Artello's attractive partner that was most unappealing to him.

However, he did want to convince him to give them a tour. The more they knew about the facility, the better, even if they couldn't convince them to allow the Sith to invest in them, knowledge of the layout would serve very well to take over the base by Force if negotiations fell through. Artello gave Angela a light nod to indicate that she should ask him to give them a tour. Although, he hoped that she would make them really work for her approval. She already had a leg up in wrapping the Director around her finger. It must be a facility full of men, and a woman's presence would certainly turn heads to say the least.

Angela almost laughed at how hard the man was breathing, almost. She listened quietly to the man apologize and ask if they needed anything while they were here. She didn't need anything herself, but her partner seemed to want her to use her powers of persuasion and gain them a tour of the facility. Angela hated when she was on a mission that involved seducing the opposite sex, she would have much preferred if this were a facility of females.

She waited a minute before speaking up, gaining the attention of almost every male in the room. "Uh... I think that my colleague and I would like a tour of the facility, if you wouldn't mind." She didn't really have to try and persuade them, she had the men wrapped around her finger as soon as she entered the building. Director Orval nodded, leading the way through the facility. It was certainly impressive, there were storage vaults containing crystals of all kinds, few were Kyber, but it was easy to tell the difference if one was trained in the Force.
