"No pain - No gain"

"My brother Garret? Sure, sure. I'll try to help you... understand him a bit better. I'll start way at the beginning. Now, our father - I won't lie - He like to enforce his rules by means of an iron fist, literally, you know? Now, Garret; he had a bit of a genetical defect in him, yeah? Called... lemme think... the... Congential insensitivity to pain? Something like that. He couldn't feel pain. Nothing. No heat, no cold, no bruises, no cuts, no need to pee, nothing to do with nerves. Now, when I was little, I envied him, of course; but now when I grew up, I realized just how much pain he really is - I'm getting ahead of myself, back to the story.

"Now, obviously, my father didn't like that, yeah? Felt he couldn't control his own son, which he couldn't. At least not the only way he knew how to control us. So, he started these womp rat fighting competitions. Only, it wasn't rat versus rat, it was rat versus Garret. Neighbors would come from miles around, get drunk, place bets, yeah? Brutal, ugly business. Now, Garret, at first, hated it. He could not do it. However, my father started threatening me if Garret didn't fight the rats, so he did. And he killed them. Every week, without fail. Over, and over, and over. Finally, something snapped inside of him. Over time, that traumatizing experience must have just... flicked a switch in his brain, you know? Eugh, I shudder now to think of what he must have gone through.

"One night, after all the neighbors went home, and our father was fast asleep, he woke me up, and persuaded me to run away from that rat bastard. We got to the nearest town, which happened to be... Carnthout, I think. However, the local security force caught up to us. Our father had had enough. He decided to get rid of us once and for all. He pretended that Garret and I were thieves who just murdered his son. He gave the officers a healthy bribe, of course, and they turned a blind eye. He had us arrested and taken away to the nearest holding facility, which was in Mos Eisley.

"Now, in the truck, that was the interesting part. Or most people would call it... sickening. At least it was for me at the time. So, Garret had these scars, right? All over his body, because he was constantly getting injured, right? Now, he had a new scab that I hadn't noticed before, right across his belly, it went. As we both sat there across from each other in the back of the speeder, he spoke to me, 'You see that scab? Get the needle out of there.' At first, I refused. It was disgusting, what he had done. But then he convinced me, 'You have to learn that you can do what you want to me. I feel no pain. You are literally the only thing that matters to me now, the one thing I love. It will be very handy for us if you learn to stop being squeamish. Do it.'

"So, I did it. What else could I have done? With that needle, Garret managed to get us out of there. He picked the lock on our relatively old manacles, and we busted through the outer door just as we passed inside the city limits. Then, we ran. We ran like hell until we got to the shipyard. He was able to secure our passage off-world. Then, our ship made the mistake of flying through Hutt Space on a quick detour. We were stopped, boarded by pirates, and captured. Then, we were sort of separated then and there. I don't know what happened to him. Why? why are you looking for him? You're not with security, are you?"

The Courier

Garret Likophant, or 'The Courier' is a very dangerous man. He is currently wanted for murder, vandalism, assault, cooperating with terrorists and kidnapping. Do not attempt to take him alone, always have at least three people. We wasted too many good men and too many resources trying to catch this bastard alive. He has no ability to feel pain. He has no ties, no real weakness that we can use as an advantage, at least not in public. Some people have been trying to tell me that he's addicted to carsunum, however there has been no confirmation of this. His brother, Thark, is also a valuable asset, if we were to track him down.

The reason people call him The Courier is because of his self-professed profession: A middle-man. If someone wants a package delivered, a ransom paid, a shipment moved... They want him. His entrance into a deal is a very big deal, as if either side attempts to double-cross the other, he will kill both. Once one contract has been started, he will not stop. He will not rest, until the deed is done. He is a master of evasion and escape. Be wary around him. One of our agents, in this very unit, was seriously injured attempting to apprehend the suspect. I will not have another one.

Garret usually carries around a small vibroblade strapped to his thigh, and usually a small blaster under his shirt. Be careful not to spook him, especially in public. His personality is dominant, and he is extremely intimidating, so be careful.

That said, he isn't the perfect crime machine. Inside, he is a broken man. He has addicted to alcohol and other spirits, and perhaps carsunum and glitterstim. I believe that our best shot of stopping this man would be to talk him down from a situation. Imagine never being able to feel the warm embrace of a family, a lover's touch, the cold on your nose in the morning, the heat of the sun down on your face, the sand between your toes? That's exactly what this man went through. I'm sure if I could get some of our psychologists and hostage negotiators to talk to him, good things would happen. That said, do not feel sorry for him. He has already contributed to the deaths of many, either directly or indirectly.

We believe him to be associated heavily with the Hutt Cartel. He is a definite human male, with hazel eyes and gray hair. He is about 39 years of age. These facts should help you identify him, if you were ever to just pass by him. No need to send our search parties, but just remain vigilant, yes?

Stay safe out there,
-E
