You'll be drummed out of the Navy in a heartbeat, that was what his parents had said. Too stubborn, not abstract enough, bad at math. He would never command a ship. That was, Garon had to admit, true. When he had left the slums of Taris that had been the dream, but even the Navy needed stubborn young men who were bad at math. Instead of officer school he was sent to a different academy: the Raxus Prime Naval Warfare Center.
Trained by some of the best the IAF had to offer, even some from outside of the Empire, Garon was a second generation Navy Commando. Naval troopers could fend off boarders, secure ships, and there were of course the elite teams whispered about who did the Admiralty's dirty work, but when the Navy needed something done right on the ground, they sent commandos. Upon graduation he served on the ISD II Palatine and for a time after as a bodyguard to one of the Emperor's distant relations.
