DESCRIPTION​

The Garman-class Gas Miner was an atmospheric mining craft used extensively, but not exclusively, by Lant Mining Corporation during the Galactic Civil War and after. On the open market, the Garman-Class was sold to other mining corporations and saw heavy use by members of the Mining Guild as well due to it's utility in gas giant mining operations.

More transport vessel than actual mining ship itself, the Garman acted as a close-orbit storage and support station for its complement of twenty Gas Skimmer GS-IIIs. Releasing the skimmers in the upper orbit of gas giants, the Garman stored the gasses collected by skimmers in its vast pressurized holds; once its holds were completely filled, the Garman would recall its skimmers and jump to a nearby refinery to deposit its cargo and begin the process all over again.

Although they are prime targets for pirates, the Garman was equipped with Quad Laser Cannon defenses to try and keep light attack forces at bay until it could make the jump to safety.

LEGALITY​

Legal to operate as a mining vessel only in conjunction with proper mining zoning permits.

INTENT​

Intent is to bring a larger mining ship from canon to the site that specializes in Gas collection as opposed to asteroid or other ground-based mining operations. To be used in conjunction with GS-III Gas Skimmers.

RESTRICTIONS​

Due to the sheer size and crew compliment, these cannot be owned and operated by a player on their own so must either be owned by a group of players, a faction or an NPC organisation.
