Name: Garel

Coordinates: L20

Hyperlane: N/A

Climate: The climate depends on where you are on the planet. It is around freezing in the parts of Garel that aren't facing the sun, while the parts that get the most sun are almost too hot to live in. It is ideal temperature at the parts in between the two extremes. There is mild wet weather, such as rain and thunderstorms, and in the hotter areas, there are sandstorms. There is hail on the cold side.

Terrain: Most of the terrain is pretty flat, although there are many rocks and canyons. There are some mountains on the cold side, and in hotter parts it is a desert. In ideal locations, it is a somewhat sparse grassland. Forests are almost unheard of.

Rotation: Garel is perfectly in line with its sun. The planet doesn't rotate, which caused different parts of it to appear like it is constantly stuck in a certain period of the day. This means that the most habital parts is where it is stuck in dawn and sunset.

Inhabitants: Mostly human colonists and astromoners, but there are a few other common species. There are many non-sentient species living in the planet, many similar to the ones you might find on Lothal. However they differ slightly to deal with the more extreme climate. One noted species is the Gar-Cat, thought to be related to the Loth-Cat although bigger and slightly different porportion snouts, feet, and tails.

Resources: There is some farmland and mines in their respectful places, but the main attraction on Garel, if any, is tourism. The beautiful sky has caused many to gather over the years.

Government: Garel doesn't have much of a government, the few cities normally govern themselves by appointing a mayor and council. Besides this, the government varies greatly from place to place. The Jedi Knights have an established Sith prison on Garel, and they offer protection in exchange to host the facility.

Culture: There isn't too much of a unique culture on Garel, although there are some exceptions. A small population of tribal people of Lothal descent were the first to settle there after crashing into the planet, and they are known for their adoration of the sky and nature in general.

Technology: Most technology on Garel is pretty common, although because of the presence of a military prison, security is more advanced than other planets.

Satellites: Garel has two moons. They don't have formal names, but they appear different sizes on different parts of the planet. One is called 'Sunset' because it appears bigger in the sunset area, while the other is 'Sunrise' because it appears bigger in that area. There is also a small station orbiting Garel that moniters traffic, specifically by the Sith holding facility. The planet's sun is named Hagri, which was a name made up by the original settlers turned tribal.

Major Cities: While Garel is a colonial planet, it does have a few major cities. These are mostly trading hubs for food, offworld novelties, and occasion firearm. The capital city is called Garei, and this is near the sunset area of the planet. It is noted that this city tends to be the center of attention, and because of that some mistake the planet's name for Garei. The city itself feels more like a town, although it is large very rarely do buildings reach over three stories. Most of the buildings are built out of rock from canyons nearby, and give the city a very rustic feel. There are several markets in the city, and these tend to be the center of Garei life.

There's also a city named Coroni, although it's not nearly as big as Garei. It's located on the sunrise side, and mostly made out of metal. It's known as the 'Shining City' because of of the fact that the metal is constantly bugging people's eyes. Coroni is a lot younger than Garei which probably explains why it's not so popular.

History: About 100 years before its colonization, a small fleet of transport ships crashed onto Garel. Most of the passengers survived the crash, however the ships were unrepairable. Over the next years, they would build a tribal civilization out of natural resources and the ships' ruins. About 100 years later, Garel was discovered, charted, and settled. Most people were farmers or astronomers. After the Jedi Temple on Lothal was built, the Jedi took interest in Garel, but they never formerly started using the planet until the conflict with the Sith began, and they designed a prison there.

Intent: The intent for Garel is to provide a more detailed description of a canon planet. This planet will be used in many Jedi affairs, as the main facility for holding their enemies on Garel. This planet can also be used for various other things, such as vacations and tribal things.

Other than the Jedi establishing a prison, what else does this add to the Garel description? I see on the wiki there's a lot of talk about events in Rebels, but it's hard to separate out other stuff.

I believe that many things, such as the planetary rotations along with climate and vegetation is what it primarily adds. It also expresses how the planet looks and level of civilization in the current period of the galaxy.

Such info is not as vital though. I think what Clayton was going for is does the small details you added justify a write up? Most people don't pay as much attention to climate and nil for rotation

There's no history whatsoever on the planet either on Wiki, which I added.

Also, added today the two major 'cities' although they're more like large towns.

That's not enough. If you look at the other Canon planets that have been approved, they included far more information, added tons of their own tweaks and flair upon them, made them truly unique. This could just be any random ball of dust. What makes this planet unique, aside from some super duper top secret Jedi prison.
