*sniffles* My new senators are so awesome.

Like I said, I'm a major power player when it comes to politics RPing. I've always wanted to put together an entire Galactic Republic Senate and call it to session, lol. I'll more fun with this than I will with my Jedi or Bogan! :bitchez

I wish I wasn't a Senator of such a relatively minor planet. :bitchez

It looks like Bestine IV wasn't inhabited until just a few hundred years BBY. I'm looking for a world closer to the Hutt empire, so as to give my senator a bit more of a personal involvement with the war.

I'm currently pouring over a list of known Mid Rim planets, but g*d d*mn are there a lot of them. This should only take me a month or two lol.

Bestine IV would be a good one. It's on the Corellian Trade Spine so it'd be a powerful planet.

Well... I mean, SURE, if you want an INHABITED planet :CIsee

Unless the staff is willing to bend the canon a bit and say that Bestine was inhabited back then.

I wish Balmorra was important.

It's mainly so Rattasi and Jamall could be old friends though. :bitchez

I'm thinking Druckenwell at this point; while the wiki page doesn't say anything about this time period, I'm just going to use poetic license to pretend it is still a relatively powerful industrial planet, and being on the Corellian Run makes it a key trade planet while also putting it near the action so to speak.

What do you guys think?

Sounds good to me. Got a Senator profile yet?

If it's in the Core through the Inner Rim and then the Outer Rim, just consider it bent by default. We're pretty loose when it comes to that in order to give as much room in the galaxy as possible. The Mid Rim is where it gets a little iffy.

When it doubt, either ask an admin, a faction leader, or consult the Disallowed Planets list: http://www.thestarwarsrp.com/forum/showthread.php?t=18339

That's what we generally do, yeah.

Creating a senator for Bestine might be most beneficial to the Republic, as it's a ship repair and construction location. There's a shipyard at Bothawui, but it's contested in a conflict at the moment. Might be good to have a second shipyard for twice the production and a fallback plan if the Bathawuian shipyard falls or is taken over.

Well it looks like Druckenwell could have a shipyard as well, and the industrial framework to house multiple shipbuilding and/or munitions plants as well (So I'm just going to keep on bending things and make the case that the info presented on the wiki page is applicable to this time frame, if that's ok with the class). Plus, at least on my map, Druckenwell is in grid point P-15, making it much closer to the contested areas of space than Bestine, which is in grid point M-14.

At the moment the majority of Balmorra's steel factories are being converted to weapons and munitions factories to aid the Republic war effort.

I know this suggestion will be a long shot but the planet of Ithor which is obviously in the Republic's jurisdiction could offer them to use their orbit for shipyards in exchange for security about the area around the planet seeing as Ithorians are based on a pacifistic nature and there is resources on the surface below which could be useful to a military. I believe proposing this to the senate would be quite an eventful one.

I think Ithorians aren't allowed to go the surface of their planet. The pollution from the shipyards might damage their economy. That is why they live on oborting cities.

I like where your head's at Horizon, but unfortunately the resources on the planet's surface would be completely off-limits. The Ithorians view their planet as sacred and long-ago created floating hover-cities so that they wouldn't have to walk on the planet's surface, thereby desecrating it. I think a few Ithorians are allowed to inhabit the planet proper, and not just the floating cities, but they are a very small group of botanist/monks.

I think I will go ahead with the Druckenwell senator; I'm sure if there's anyone else out there like me they can grab hold of the Bestine idea and run with it.

Which prompts another idea: maybe there should be a thread in the Republic Senate folder with a list of preferred planets for new players to represent. Just a thought.

Edit: Woops, didn't see Senor Crunchy had posted similar info.

Ithorians are allowed on the surface of the planet if they are going to live on it permanently. And that is a good point about the pollution. Is there no actual way to protect them from such an element? And since we are so early within the timeline, I would think that still as of now the resources are quite abundant. Leaving most continents untouched. Also the Ithorians would be the only ones to be harvesting so right amount of caution could be taken in protecting the environments as they could. One might think they would be willing to take such a measure to protect the entire planet from being taken over and ravished like a whore. (Sorry about my example there!)

But you guys certainly make a good point.

Are we going to make a rule that anyone with a Senator cannot have a Hutt High Council Member and vice versa?

This rule is already up I had two characters one a senator in the republic and the other was on the Hutt council and Hakim told me that I only had to choose one side.

However that does not matter since the Hutt council is private anyway and no one of the current council members got a senator character.

From that description, Ithor heavily reminds me of Alsakan from the last timeline except Alsakan was a bit more violent.

As much as I love reading these political posts, they should be reserved for when Senate is called. This is an OOC thread getting other memebrs interested in the idea of making the political threads more active.
