Born in 6909 BBY as the third son and child in a family of five children, Gûry Sündr Gantz is a young, budding Jedi Knight, "recruited" to the ranks of the Order from the hostile culture of the Deucalians, specifically the Alemanii Clan. One might consider it queer of his recruiter to find a potential Jedi amidst such a harsh, violent, and greedy culture, but such strange miracles are not so uncommon as one might think at first. Such were the thoughts of his recruiter as he looked upon this eight years old, Force sensitive scourge with such wonder. His extraction from Djúptstjörnu was a thing done in secret, and a deed most foul to the parents and the Clan at large.
Indeed, Gûry himself resisted his captor for the longest time, and rightfully so. Kidnapping, after all, was not an idea unfamiliar to the Deucalian youth, who held their current situations as unsure at the best of times. With raids seizing everything from life to freedom, they knew that at any moment, they may have to fight for their very right to exist, or fight until they died. Better to leave this life a warrior than live on as a servant to another man. So it took some time and discipline for the Jedi to gradually draw the lad from his protective shell and get him interested in the Jedi, both the individual and the Order.
As such, when the lads Clan inevitably caught up with and captured both the Jedi and his prospect, the child had already become obsessed with the idea of the Order, and of the Force. This would have been the death of him, were it not for Gûry's father intervening, using what little sway and honor he had to secure a passage for the lad to the Order. With two other sons, the man might have allowed Gûry to die with an easy conscience, but instead, the boy's father chose to trust and invest into the path that his son had elected to take.
However, given that the child had not turned ten, he had yet to receive a weapon from his father. It was tradition in their family that the children not bear any weapon until their father deemed them worthy of one via a test at age ten. If he judged you to be worthy, you received your dagger and went on. Unworthy, and you would tend the fields. As Gûry had not been tested, he had no proof to either way, and never would. That was he consigned himself to a most difficult path. To honor his parents and Clan, Gûry Sündr Gantz elected to never wield a weapon in his life.
As such, his training focuses more on Force control and abilities than Lightsaber combat, with hand to hand being highly developed to compensate. Unfortunately, this has supplanted the idea in Gûry's head of the Force as a tool to be used rather than a living thing to be relied upon. On arriving to the Temple, Gûry was assigned to a proper Master, and has there trained to become an adept young Knight of the Order. However, with the recent losses for the Jedi, his future looks grave, and the expectations thrust upon him may just lead him from the path to which they call.

Even then, many a time he or his Master would find that in certain areas, rather than following the Order's teachings as they were truly meant to be followed, Gûry would instead mix it and appropriate to his own understanding of how life works based on his childhood conditioning. He has had to purge his understanding again and again, and from this, he has learned an appreciation of the journey, as well as an understanding that failure is going to occur naturally, whether or not he intends for such.
In regards to his outward personality, he is highly amiable. He enjoys new people, despite not being the most charismatic person, and is quite open as a person to anyone, including and especially his enemies, for he believes that without understanding, one only defeats their enemies. They do not overcome them. This desire to know the people for whom he serves has oft resulted in dangerous situations, but his combat aptitude generally makes up for his naivety in such scenarios.
He enjoys music, art, and combat, but above all, he loves silence. Insight and wisdom are things he does not possess, and he finds great difficulty and frustration in the pursuit of them. But for what moments of quiet they provide, it makes for it all to be worth the pain. He strives for the Jedi ideal, not out of fanaticism, but rather out of wonder and desire for the peace, understanding, and simple joy it can bring to those who fully delve into its mysteries.
