Vuthari’s Apartment
Nar Shaddaa

Nar Shaddaa is where this all began, and it will all end if we don't complicate the Empire's efforts to restore Network Access! Go the Smuggler's Moon and collapse routes, corridors, and tunnels leading to Network Access! It may not stop them from repairing the HoloNet, but it will considerably slow their efforts, if not outright delay them!

The Jedi Master knew the raid on Imperial Hutta had been effective, but Vu’thari did not anticipate things going south so quickly. Of course, when the holonet is knocked out, it all went to chaos. In the five years, Vu’thari had lived in Nar Shaddaa, it had never been so dangerous. Outside on the walkways of Nar Shaddaa, it was a continuous warzone. While the underworld focused their efforts on Imperial Hutta, others simply took advantage of the chaos and began committing violent crimes without fear of retribution.

Imperial Hutta could not effectively govern or enforce laws when communications were wiped out. While Vu’thari did not like how this was playing out, very dangerous to the hard-workers of Nar Shaddaa, he also understood that his window would not be here forever. The greater good was at work here. This was also why it was important that he and Ayasha work to make sure that their home remained in the dark a bit longer.

With the sabotage efforts by the Galactic Alliance resulting in a catastrophic break in the holonet and communications, it had to stay that way to allow the crime syndicates time to get to work on their independence. After all, that was the goal for Imperial Hutta…independence from the Sith.

Vu’thari was dressed for mayhem. There was no point trying to hide all their gear. The danger these nights was not being recognized as a threat by Imperial Hutta soldiers, but instead the danger was not being prepared to go out on the streets of Nar Shaddaa unprepared. Chaos reigned the day, which brought violence.

Dressed in blacks and grays, complete with his blaster pistol on his right thigh, Vu’thari fixed the rest of his “ensemble”, including wrapping his lekku around his neck and down his back. A large black hood covered his head, making it very difficult to recognize his species. Absently, the Jedi Master traced a finger down the left side of his face, running it along the jagged scar that mauled his face and took his left eye—the attack from the terentatuk in the Shadowlands. Bringing his mind back to the task at hand, the twi’lek felt back behind him at the tools in his backpack, including explosives the would need. Grenades lined the back of his belt and his lightsaber was nestled in its hidden pocket in the front of his tunic.

The two Jedi had a fairly straightforward, yet flexible mission due to their knowledge of the Smuggler’s Moon: ensure the Network Access stayed down and delayed as long as possible. Looking over at Jedi Knight Ayasha Waya, he smiled and inquired, “Ready?”

There was an eerie feeling hanging over Nar Shaddaa as the all encompassing city was plunged into chaos. Vandals ran amuck setting buildings on fire, flipping speeder bikes, and smashing windows wherever they could find them. There was looting like never before. Storefronts had a steady stream of thieves carrying armloads of merchandise out. There were assaults, muggings and murders. It was as if the entirety of the Smuggler's Moon had lost its collective mind. Granted, Nar Shaddaa was rife with crime before the fall of the HoloNet, but this was a new level of low.

Ayasha stood in the shower allowing the warmth of the water to pour over her head. This was a ritual she savored as the flow seemed to cleanse not only her body, but also her mind. She drew in a deep breath and pushed the streams from her face. The caramel skinned woman was deep in thought. In spite of the nature of the world that was thick with crime of every sort, she had made it her home for the last year and she was comfortable here. She had a routine and structure. She liked order and though change was the only true constant in the galaxy, it was hardly her favorite thing.

The Jedi pressed her wet hand against the surface of a small silver square, putting an end to the stream of water. From a hook just outside of the tall opaque walls, she grabbed a warm fluffy towel, one of her very few but most beloved luxuries. The woman dried her tan body and raven hair before wrapping the towel around herself. She knew that Vu'thari was the only one in the apartment aside from her, so slipping out of the fresher and tiptoeing to her quarters was of little concern when it came to privacy.

In her room, the woman made quick work of dressing herself, she assumed, for battle. Her black tunic, slate leggings and coal colored boots were simple, yet effective at keeping her hidden in the shadows if necessary. She did not live up to what someone may think a typical Jedi looks like as she had learned from Vu'thari early on to blend in. Ayasha buckled a heavy belt around her waist, equipped with the little things that made a big difference on every mission. Her comlink and a small recording device were among the more innocuous items she carried.

The woman grabbed the towel and finished drying her hair before reaching for a brush that she ran through the waist length locks several times. She tied the clump into a tail at the back of her head and went about adding several grenades to the back of her belt. She slipped her lightsaber into its place beneath her tunic where it hung from a small clip on the reverse side of the fabric. The Jedi then reached for the leathery hilt holding her blaster pistol and affixed it to her right thigh. Her honey colored eyes quickly searched her reflection in the mirror upon her wall and she gave herself a nod.

Upon leaving her quarters, Ayasha grabbed her cloak and slipped her arms through the sleeves as she pulled the material tight around her torso. As she walked passed the fresher, she absently reached in and shut the light off before continuing down the hall toward the common area. The Jedi Knight smiled at Vu'thari, though she could not help but feel a recurring twinge of pain in her heart each time she set her eyes upon the scar across his face. She wanted nothing more than to sit down with the twi'lek and ask him to spill all of the thoughts and emotions she knew he had locked away deep inside regarding the incident and the subsequent loss of sight in his left eye...but it never felt like the right time for that conversation.

“Ready?” the Jedi Master inquired as he smiled. There was a distant sadness locked away behind the twi'lek's voice that betrayed his expression. Although the empath could sense these things, particularly through their Force Bond, she was hardly certain that anything she might say would be comforting. The raven haired woman pulled the hood of her cloak over her head as she nodded and searched Vu'thari's face for several quiet moments. The last image his left eye had ever seen was the fearsome tarentatuk that robbed his sight from the once emerald orb. It was a fact hard for Ayasha to accept and she could only imagine how difficult it was for the twi'lek to swallow that pill himself.

The Knight slowly reached up and placed a gentle hand upon Vu'thari's face, her thumb brushing against the wide scar as she did. She shifted her gaze between both of his eyes as a wave of peace passed through her and into him. “When you're ready, I'm here for you...” she whispered as her hand slowly fell to her side. The woman had questions that she also sadly knew the answers to. It was likely that the Jedi Master's depth perception had been affected. It was likely that his peripheral vision was now absent on his left side. In spite of this however, Vu'thari was resilient. He was a fighter. He was the best Jedi that Ayasha knew.

“Shall we?” she said with a warm smile while stepping toward the door.

Crix carefully surveyed the chaos around him. Memories of his childhood flooded his mind threatening to overwhelm him, but still, he persisted. His charming smile had been replaced with a stoic frown as he navigated the treacherous highways of the rioting Ecumenopolis. The smuggler had stolen a suped-up swoop bike and was making good time, but as he progressed he couldn't help but feel the pain of the cities inhabitants pressing in on him. His hands maneuvered the bike with ease as he slipped past a thug attempting to take his head off with a pipe. The thug's dismay was drowned out by the swoops engines and after a few short seconds, the attacker was just a bad memory.

This was his last job before returning to the Jedi. Once this was done he'd devote himself to whatever lame teachings Leah wanted to subject him too, but until then he'd sling the gun on his hip with all the prowess of a competition bound gunslinger. He was dressed in his usual battle gear, leather jacket over his scout armor, and his blaster on his hip. Due to the severity of the mission, he'd picked up a couple explosives from Dopes, but he hoped he wouldn't have to use the grenades for anything other than the mission.

A pang of hesitance struck him as he pulled the bike off to the side of the road and parked. He stared at the humble home of his friend and wondered what he'd missed. Crix knew in his heart he'd chosen the right path. If he hadn't left Kashyyyk when he wouldn't have been able to see the galaxy for himself. He would have been forced to just believe whatever came through the pipeline, and that didn't sit right with him. Reaffirmed in his choice, he slung his leg over the seat and stepped to the door. Hopefully, their little reunion tour would go off without a hitch.

Vuthari’s Apartment
Nar Shaddaa

While the air had been cleared with Ayasha, there were still moments when it was hard to keep focused. One of those moments was when the Jedi Knight walked through the small apartment from the fresher to the room...in just a towel. His eyes found her as she walked past and he casually turned right away. There was no denying the physical attraction he had for Ayasha. He was a Jedi, but he was not blind…

Focus...

Pushing those thoughts away, Vu’thari focused on the task at hand. His focus would have to be razor sharp out on the streets of Nar Shaddaa this night. The light in the hallway winked out and Ayasha, also geared for war, walked up to him and rested her hand on his face and among his jagged scar from the terentaluk. Their eyes met and she said quietly, “When you're ready, I'm here for you...”

The twi’lek closed his eye briefly and opened it meeting hers. He smiled, “I know. Thank you...and I do want to talk…”

“Shall we?”

Matching her grin, he answered, “Indeed.”

It was routine. Vu’thari checked his chronometer to see when he was leaving and marked the time. At that point, he activated the microrecorder in the hallway. A small holovid sprung to life on his chronometer, showing a clear hallway. With that, the pair exited the door. Quickly the twi’lek keyed the door closed, causing the durasteel door to trigger its maglocks along the four sides of the door. With the network access down, he would not be able to access the recorders inside and outside of his apartment. Fortunately, anything of worth in the apartment was being carried by him and Ayasha.

As the pair moved, the twi’lek unsnapped the strap across the butt of his blaster pistol. Most of the tenants in this apartment complex had battened down the hatches once the violence began. He could sense most of the occupants within the refuge of their apartments, rife with fear and uncertainty. Vu’thari wanted to knock on each door and tell them it would be alright—but he didn’t know. This was going to be a battle, both out in the open and hidden in the shadows. As much as he hated for the network access to be down for the citizens of Nar Shaddaa, he knew why it had to remain down—and he and Ayasha would make sure of it.

Before them was the turbolift they used time and time again. Calling forth the transport, the doors swooshed open and the pair entered. Keying the first floor, the pair were alert for when the lift would open. A chime indicated it had reached its destination. The doors receded in milliseconds, but revealed no one within the small lobby…

Vu’thari stopped in his tracks. Sensing a familiar presence, he reached out and found the strand. The Jedi Master said quietly to the Jedi Knight beside him, “We have a visitor…”

As if on cue, Crix swaggered into the lobby. Vu’thari grinned and quipped, “They will let anyone into this apartment these days…do they not run background checks anymore?”

As the pair made their way through the corridor, a distant explosion rumbled for a long moment. Ayasha was not shaken, she had been created for a time such as this. She had trained hard and accomplished great things as a padawan of the Force and now...she was a Jedi Knight, ready to face whatever waited on the other side of the walls that had kept her relatively safe.

Like Vu'thari, the woman had set her mind on nothing else but the mission ahead. It was of the utmost importance for the pair to do whatever necessary to keep the HoloNet down. If there was one thing they were good at...it was destruction. The Jedi knew that they had to take advantage of the situation. What better time to strike than while the Smuggler's Moon was in a downward spiral.

The twi'lek held the door to the turbolift and allowed Ayasha to go ahead of him as he had done countless times before. They were silent as they descended several floors until they reached the first level. A chime sounded, indicating that they had reached their destination, and then the lift doors opened. Seconds before stepping out into the lobby, the young woman felt a very familiar presence within the Force...one she had not sensed in quite a long time.

As the pair stepped out into the lobby, Vu'thari broke the silence as he quietly spoke to Ayasha. “We have a visitor...” The Knight nodded and a smile began to slowly take shape upon her lips. “I know,” she whispered with the smile now audible within her words. Just then, the very smuggler who had accidentally taken her from Galtea...the man who at one point she believed to be a spirit...the friend who she had to thank for changing her stars, entered the small room.

“They will let anyone into this apartment these days...do they not run background checks anymore?” Vu'thari quipped to which Ayasha's smile became a full fledged grin. “Crix!” the Knight exclaimed, though quietly as she was attempting to mind her voice. Seconds later the caramel skinned woman was wrapping her arms around the man's neck and pulling him in for a long embrace. “Did you get my holo the other day? I sent it from my ship before returning home, but with the network being down here, I haven't been able to check mine,” she said before shooting a grin back at Vu'thari.

Perhaps the twi'lek did not know, but Ayasha had been learning a great deal about technology and had become rather savvy online. “I know how to do that now,” she leaned back and whispered to the Jedi Master with a laugh. “So...what do you think?” the woman held out her arms as she showed off her new look to her old friend. No longer was she the dirty faced savage that had found her way on to his ship. Her hair was not wild and unkempt but now hung in a neat ponytail at the back of her head. She had traded in her buckskin sundress for her usual tunic, leggings and boots. The long bow and arrows that Crix and Vu'thari alike had found themselves at the end of had been replaced by a blaster pistol and though out of sight, a lightsaber.

The raven haired woman had explained to Crix many things via holo such as her rise from padawan to Jedi Knight and her acquisition of a beautiful Nightsweeper ship she had named the Ash Angel. “I just can't believe you're actually here!” Ayasha gushed as she gestured toward Crix in an incredulous manner. “So...you've been busy! I want to hear everything!” the woman beamed as her honey colored eyes met those of the man across from her. For a moment, she had completely forgotten that perhaps the Jedi Master had something he wanted to interject as the excitement had carried her away.

“Oh Vu'thari, I'm so sorry,” she said quietly as she turned toward the twi'lek and gently placed a hand upon his bicep as if to further relay her sincerity. The woman's arm returned to its place at her side soon after as her eyes shifted between Vu'thari's and Crix's faces. In spite of the uncertainty that seemed to be running rampant these days, it was moments like these that kept the Knight going.

“Good to see you too Vu’thari.” He said a touch of sarcasm in his voice as he gave the Twi’lek a quick two-finger salute and a smile.

After his whirlwind tour through Hutt Space, Crix was on his final stop before he was due to return to Leah. He was finally ready to throw in with the rebellion and what better way to cement the occasion than with some fireworks on the smuggler’s moon. A lot of things had happened since their journey to the life tree in Kashyyyk, and the scoundrel was excited to be in the presence of known company. Well almost, he glanced over at the attractive woman dressed in muted tones and gave her a little nod, before his eyes went wide with surprise.

“Ayasha?!” Was all he could get out before he was wrapped in a tight hug. He laughed and returned the embrace before taking a step back and getting a good look at her.

The timid woman he’d met months ago was a far cry from the one standing before him. Sure, they'd been in contact via holovids, but the fuzzy blue iridescent image had hidden her complete metamorphosis. Recovering from the shock he, felt a wave of relief washed over him. She was alright. Crix hadn't realized how much he'd been worried about her, but as he looked between the two he wondered if he should have been concerned for Vu'thari.

Ayasha's excited questions, made him laugh, but even as excited as he was, they needed to hit the bricks. Keeping the holonet down was crucial for the current strike and the sooner they hit their mark the better. He wished they had more time...

"I haven't gotten the most recent, I've been on a tour of the sector, so I haven't had a connection in weeks." He gave her a quick apologetic smile while agreeing he was excited to be back and promising to fill her in on everything when they had a chance.

After their brief reunion, the trio agreed it was time to get to work. Crix pulled out his Personav and showed the group their destination. It'd be a short ride, but it'd undoubtedly be guarded. He straddled his pilfered swoop and looked to his fellow Jedi, you guys got a ride? There were several abandoned options that'd be easy enough for Crix to slice if need be. Once that was settled they'd make their way to their destination.

o1rfzf8.gif

Crix lowered his swoop around the corner from their objective, in an attempt to maintain some anonymity. He'd arrived a little before Vu'thari, and capitalized on his early arrival by getting a clear look at their target. Crix lit up a shitty cigarette and stepped around the corner. The scoundrel took a drag off his smoke as he surveyed the tunnel they'd been sent to destroy. He narrowed his eyes at the structure attempting to spot any weaknesses, but he couldn't get a good look from his current vantage point. Suddenly, the lack of pandamonium struck him. Crix leaned against the wall of a nearby building, appearing to be some degenerate on break, while he spotted the source of the sectors mundane serenity.

Imperial Troopers.

The imperial presence in this sector was far higher than in previous. There was a distinct lack of Chaos which told the gambler there were boots on the ground. As he blew a plume of smoke through his lips, he spotted a squad of seven imperials, standing rank while receiving their shift orders.

He casually activated his wrist com and hailed Ayasha and Vu'thari, simultaneously, "A fresh squad just started its patrol at the entrance of the tunnel. Looks like we're gonna have some fun guys."

The twi’lek was glad to see Crix and also glad he seemed to be doing well. Leah kept him informed on Crix. If he found a teacher in her, so be it. Vu’thari wasn’t offended—he just hoped the young man would find his way. It didn’t matter to the twi’lek who showed him that path—just as long he had the opportunity to explore it.

As Crix shared the coordinates with Vu’thari, he nodded at the mention of a speeder bike and replied, “Ok, we will meet you here. Be back in a minute…”

With that, Ayasha and Vu’thari trotted off and returned a few minutes later on his Ion Custom with Ayasha riding in the back. With that, Crix speed off with Vu’thari and Ayasha following close behind. Weaving through the streets, the trio made their way deeper into the high rises of the city. After turning the next corner, he saw Crix had stopped his swoop at a corner. Slowing down, Vu’thari pulled up behind Crix so that they were out of sight of whatever Crix was peering at around the corner. He told them that an Imperial Squad had begun their patrol and it looked like they would need to go through them to get to their destination. With the three huddled at the corner, Vu’thari said simply, “Then allow me to gain their attention. When it seems opportune, make your move…I have a suspicion their focus will be solely on me based on what I am seeing from them. See you soon.”

Vu’thari then backtracked down the alley and disappeared around the corner. Moments later, he appeared from the opposite side of the street. A small voice came into the heads of both Crix and Ayasha

***Grenade in…then go.***

Hidden from the guards, but visible to Crix and Ayasha, he began ticking down fingers. When he ran out of fingers, the twi’lek cooked a concussion grenade, pulled from the small of his back and attempted to roll it right in the middle of the gaggle of guards.

However, the guards were staring right in his direction as he rolled it out. Quickly, all of the guards jumped to nearby cover as the concussion grenade went off bathing the area in a flash of brilliant light and a huge BOOM. But it seemed they all made it cover in time and began firing at Vu’thari’s position as he ducked around the corner…

There was no time to catch up, but it had been good to briefly see Crix before the trio was off the wreck havoc together. Ayasha had always hoped that things would work out for the smuggler, and it appeared as though they had. As the man took off on his swoop, the pair of Jedi went and retrieved Vu'thari's bike. The craft had quickly become one of the Knight's favorite means of travel and she hoped the twi'lek would teach her how to pilot one herself someday.

As the pair boarded the swoop, Ayasha wrapped her arms around Vu'thari's torso and held on tightly. He hit the throttle and they were off in the direction that Crix had gone just ahead of them. This experience was far from the enjoyable ride they had taken on Ryloth, but the Knight was just thankful to be side by side with the Jedi Master on a mission once again.

Before the raven haired woman knew it, Vu'thari was pulling up just behind Crix. The smuggler peered around a corner, looking at something with great intent. Ayasha closed her eyes briefly and tapped into the Force. Since her trials, she had been working to hone her Force Sight ability and this seemed like a great opportunity to use it once again. The buildings around the woman began to grow transparent within her mind and she was suddenly staring straight through the one at her side. There around the corner was a crew of Imperial guards.

“Imperials,” Ayasha whispered just ahead of Crix's revelation that there was in fact, a squad waiting in the path they needed to take to their destination. Vu'thari slid off of the speeder bike and the Knight followed, huddling against the wall together as they formed a plan. The pink skinned alien seemed to have something up his sleeve and soon he disappeared, leaving the smuggler and the raven haired woman just on the other side of the wall from the small group.

Soon the twi'lek was standing across the street, having backtracked down the alley and around the corner to reach the opposite side of the thoroughfare. “Grenade in...then go,” his broken telepathy quietly entered the minds of the Crix and Ayasha. The woman nodded in his direction and then exchanged a glance with the smuggler just as Vu'thari rolled the tiny bomb into the gathering. He certainly accomplished his goal of getting their attention. In fact, the lot had been staring directly at the Jedi Master as he unleashed the grenade in their direction.

Immediately the guards began firing in the twi'lek's direction. Ayasha quickly pulled her blaster pistol from the holster on her right thigh, leveled it and rounded the corner firing at the group. Her first round could not have been any more perfect. The bolts connected with the Imperial's head and like something from a holo, it burst and splattered blood and brain matter all over his comrades. His body dropped into a heap on the ground as his fellow agents looked on in horror. They had ceased their assault on Vu'thari and Ayasha did not hesitate to use the moment to her advantage.

The Jedi shifted her blaster to the next guard and fired off several rounds. The bolts pierced the man's neck and face, knocking him backwards to the ground. His body remained still upon falling and Ayasha moved on to her next target. She began firing but as she did, her blaster experienced a malfunction. She looked at it and slammed her hand against the weapon's body. As she was attempting to rectify the issue, the guards had composed themselves and were taking aim at the group once again. Several shots were fired off and one pierced her right shoulder. Her armor took the brunt of the damage, but she dropped her blaster in the process. The weapon discharged a bolt as it hit the ground, clearly functioning after the mishap.

Ayasha bent and retrieved the weapon, firing off a few shots just before retreating around the corner once again. Though five of the seven guards remained, she was certain that a few of her last bolts connected with one of them, at least she had hoped they did. It was clear that they were shaken from the incident involving their comrade and his...animated demise. “Five left...one of us launch a grenade while the other shoots? Any ideas?” the Knight asked Crix through several breaths. The adrenaline was coursing through her veins now. She was sure the trio could handle this threat, but they would have to do it quickly as there would likely be more of these guards arriving after all of the commotion they were causing.

Vu'thari went into action, boldly bearing himself before the enemy. Crix marveled at the man's confidence and hoped one day to be as bold in the force as the Jedi master was. As Vu'thari began to tick down his attack, The smuggler frowned. The Imperial's who'd just come on duty were facing the Twi'lek watching him. As he rolled the grenade the scattered and returned fire solely in the Jedi's direction. He was the perfect decoy. Crix was watching a master at work.

Galvanized by Vu'thari's boldness Crix and Ayasha went to work. Ayasha's attack was a rollercoaster ride, but Crix followed behind her capitalizing on her brutal headshot. The guard she'd just narrowly missed met his end at the end of The smuggler's blaster bolt. However, as he began to smile Ayasha's dropped blaster discharged and the bolt expelled from it, grazed his arm. The bolt coming close enough to sear through both his leather jacket and the synthetic material of his armor leaving an aggravated burn across his left shoulder. His sucked in a sudden breath and stumbled to the side a step before he caught himself. He slipped into cover as Ayasha spoke.

“Five left...one of us launch a grenade while the other shoots? Any ideas?”

His arm burned furiously and he stifled a sardonic retort, instead saying, "There's four I got one. I think we can take them without the explosives. We might need the bombs later."

Crix peered from cover and watched as the remaining imps retreated around the corner.

The smuggler opened his com, making sure Vu'thari could hear and said, "They might be running for reinforcements, we need to take them out. I'm going after them."

The smuggler checked his ammo and with a silent three count, he moved. If they could stop the injured squad before they raised the alarm this mission would be as good as done. But if they raised the alarm they'd be in for one hell of a fight.

Alleyway at Tunnel Entrance
Undercity
Nar Shaddaa

Crix was right. If the patrol got away, their mission would get infinitely harder. One of the advantages of living in Nar Shaddaa for five years was that you began to understand the logic of the alleyways in the Undercity. This dangerous area was where Vu’thari and Dio came to collect much needed parts in its junkyards.

Peeling back down the alleyway, opposite Ayasha and Crix, the Jedi Master speed his legs up once again, racing down the alleyway to quickly cut off the retreating soldiers. Coming to a T-intersection they would have to pass, he heard the soldiers approaching. Past this location was a small Imperial Hutta outpost, that the trio could not allow them to reach. Reaching down to his thigh, Vu’thari pulled his blaster pistol, determined to stop them in their tracks. With cover on his side, the twi’lek called out, “Freeze!”

It was laughable gesture in the Undercity of Nar Shaddaa, speaking to the group that vastly outnumbered him. But halting their progress was the goal and cover was on his side. Predictably, they all turned on him with their weapons. Vu’thari obliged them with his speed to the trigger and laid down three shots that took the lead two center mass, dropping them. However, the other two did not stop and pelted his covered position with suppressing fire. Vu’thari had no choice but to duck for cover. He just hoped Crix and Ayasha had caught up and could stop their progress…

“They might be running for reinforcements...” Crix was right and had voiced what Ayasha had been thinking. The pair ran after the group as Vu'thari positioned himself in such a way that the Imperial guards were once again focused on the twi'lek. “Freeze!” the Jedi Master commanded as he pulled his blaster pistol on the agents. If not for the circumstances, the Knight would have had a good laugh at the scene unfolding before her. Vu'thari was successful in his action however, as he stopped two of the group from proceeding to the outpost where they would likely call for aid.

With those agents distracted, the raven haired woman rounded the next corner, leveled her blaster and began firing off shots at the other pair from the group. Her bolts made direct contact with their heads and like the first she took down, their skulls blew apart and splattered blood and brain matter all around. Their comrades watched in horror, naturally backing away from the scene, stunned from another brutal display of death. Ayasha was fast not to miss a beat as she turned her weapon on the pair left standing and gawking. Fear was written across their faces, though both of them raised their blasters in defense as she began her next assault.

The Knight fired off several shots that slammed into the bodies of each of the agents. The first stumbled backwards and then fell into a motionless heap upon the cold, dirty ground. As the second man fell to his knees, clearly on the verge of succumbing to his injuries, he took a shot at the woman who leapt out of the way, but was grazed across her left forearm. Though the wound was superficial at best, the burn of a blaster bolt was always something to be reckoned with.

Ayasha winced and drew in a deep breath as she pushed herself up from the damp surface beneath her feet. She stood quietly and closed her eyes, listening through the Force for any voices or footsteps nearby. The Knight heard nothing for now at least, but knew that time was a precious commodity that they could not afford to waste. “Let's hurry before anyone else decides to interrupt,” Ayasha's alto voice spoke quietly as she motioned in the direction that the trio had been heading.

The Knight led the group down a narrow alley that seemed to grow increasingly tight as they progressed. At one point, Ayasha had to turn sideways and walk in an awkward fashion to continue pressing on. “I see the tunnel up ahead...we're almost there,” the raven haired woman said over her shoulder to the Jedi Master and the smuggler. As the trio neared the end of the tight passageway, the woman slowed and closed her eyes. She reached out with the Force and peered through the stone walls on each side of the alley.

“No Imperials...the coast is clear,” the Knight whispered as she opened her eyes and led the group out into the open. She knew that Vu'thari had equipped himself with the explosives necessary to accomplish the task at hand and so she shot him a glance and a smile laced with mirth. Her gaze shifted to Crix as she wondered if he had brought along any explosives of his own. “We should make quick work of this. There's no telling how long it will take before we're noticed,” she said in tones just above a whisper.

Vu'thari stopped the imperials in place and Ayasha made short work of the remaining opposition. The smuggler caught up and too the pair of Jedi he said, "Nice work!"

Vu'thari and Ayasha were quite the team and he was glad they seemed to be comfortable working together. Reunited with the team, Crix listened to Ayasha and agreed with the Jedi Knights assessment.

"I agree, I'll take the east side. I've got enough to hit the side supports and one of the middle pillars in the Tunnel. We've got to drop this access road before the imps can get slicers into the Holonet hub."

Without wasting any time the scoundrel dashed into the tunnel rushing to the furthest point first. He quickly set his first charge and then began moving to the next, he had two more charges to set. Vu'thari or Ayasha should have explosives of their own to blow the other side. Their goal was to blow the structural stability of the tunnel, collapsing it inwardly, effectively closing the main entrance of the tunnel.

After a few quick minutes of work, the smuggler was done. He'd placed his charges accordingly and began making his way back where Ayasha and Vu'thari were.

"Charges are set. I'm ready to set them off on your call, Vu'thari."

Nar Shaddaa

Crix quickly set about their task of setting the explosives. He took one side and Vu’thari took the other. While Ayasha was quickly learning about the modern era and all the technology used in it, the Jedi Master was not quite ready to trust her with high explosives…another lesson for another day.

Each support along the tunnel provided the weak point for them to rig for demolition. While this was not the only tunnel leading to the network access, it was one of the main ones. Many of the other tunnels would require some working knowledge of the Undercity—Vu’thari doubted the Imperial Hutta forces had to many of those. During their reign, they left the Undercity alone, believing that the risk of committing soldiers down there outweighed any benefit—and they were hard-pressed to find any guides for that area willing to help them.

"Charges are set. I'm ready to set them off on your call, Vu'thari."

Vu’thari nodded to Crix and the trio vacated the area—quickly. Once they were at a safe distance, Vu’thari tossed the remote detonator once they were at a safe distance.

"The honor is yours..."

Crix smirked and tapped the button. The entire area shook and a massive explosion could be heard from around for miles. Wasting little time to observe their handiwork, the trio made their way back to Vu’thari’s apartment for a quick beer before the trio went their separate ways and on to the next assignment…such was the life they chose.

THE END
