French Women's Minister Comes Under Fire

According to this news sites, the French Women's minister has come under fire for comparing people who wear a veil to black people that supported slavery. I was wondering what other SWRP writers thought about this.

As a french citizen, I can say with certainty that, while she certainly slipped up there (albeit slightly), Rossignol and her cabinet have been instrumental in the passing of several laws and the creation of several aid programs that have been of great aid to children protection, to reduce gender harassment, and in awareness for diseases affecting women like endometriosis.

While I disagree with her use of the word to a certain degree, I think it's also important to avoid villifying her for a mistake and ignore the good she has done, like the media is doing right now.

She's 100% correct. I do not understand how women can willingly stay in a religion that Treats you less then dirt.

And if ye are sick or on a journey, or one of you cometh from the closet, or ye have had contact with women, and ye find not water, then go to clean, high ground and rub your faces and your hands with some of it" Men are to rub dirt on their hands, if there is no water to purify them, following casual contact with a woman (such as shaking hands).

Sure. Still, I omitted it simply because, while I don't personally think it's offensive, others do. I mean, just look at the mess Rossignol got herself into. Like I said, I don't think much of it and would rather look at the good she has done for my country.

The negro thing sounds like a genuine slip up. I mean seriously, is that what everyone is getting freaked out about? The actual point of comparison she is trying to make seems like it would be considered infinitely more offensive.
