This is a nice, juicy thread with some raiding in it, as well as few surprises. I am tagging interested from the Exchange: @The New Guy , @Riley Dee and @Meckabro , as well as tagging @Outlander for him to tag his own people. Posting order will go by the rule first come, first take, with me, as an NPCer, replying when needed outside the posting order.

It was another day in a Galaxy full of strife, fear and misery... and yet, while the Galaxy was full of those things, it didn't seem like that in cold, deep space. Even though most days were peaceful, accompanied by silence, this was not to be for long. Indeed, there existed groups that spread chaos and corruption, either out of necessity or out of desire. And one of these groups, a faction of separatists from the Exchange, left hyperspace above Mon Gazza to spread chaos, gain profit and reclaim their name as pirates.

Jer'tar, a human commander of the ships that were to raid this planet, growled and smiled. The Hutt Insurgency finally gave him a chance to show himself, and gave his men a chance to try once again the fury of the Pact. "Activate the shields! Ready the weapons! Prepare transport modules and check yer weapons, ye blaggards!" he yelled into the microphone, giving orders to the crew as the fleet approached the planet.

Commander Voz, of the ACC Wyvern, sat in his quarters, sipping a warm cup of caf. He basically ran on the stuff; had it whenever he needed to get through some reports or coordinate another cycle of patrols. Better than stims any day. But, there wasn't anything to be done now. His first officer had the bridge now, and most of the ship had basically shut down for the night cycle. It'd be another couple of days till they docked with their resupply ship, and the crew where drained from working in such a small ship for extended periods, as well as the boredom of patrols. Maybe some shore leave would do them good? The commander considered sending a message to command, requesting a transfer with their sister ship, the Deltan, to allow his crew some leave on the Void or Christophsis.

A signal chimed, forcing the bothan out of his train of thought. "Yes?"

"Unidentified ships incoming off of transition point Whiskey fourteen. We're trying to clean up the sensor data now."

"Hmm." He said gruffly, putting down his mug. "On my way."

It was another lonely night on the graveyard shift. When she agreed to become one of helmsman for the Accord, she never expected to be given the worst possible shift in existence. She'd been doing this rotation for weeks now and still couldn't get into the habit of sleep during the day, work during the night. She was constantly yawning and nearly dozing off every couple of hours. Thankfully, nothing exciting ever happened, so no one called her out on it. She'd made friends with most of the night crew, and they felt pity for the red headed pilot. They could casually attempt to wake her up as if they never noticed she had fallen asleep on the job. But today, she would end up being wide awake.

While she drempt of odd animals playing board games the girl drooled in her chair. She was poked repeatedly on the arm until she stuttered awake and shook her head. "I'm awake. What's the status?" It was a common response tat usually merited nothing to be alarmed; and thus, only gave her more reason to shut her eyes.

"We're picking up unidentified ships coming out of hyperspace. They'll be approaching in eight minutes."

Rico's heard jumped. Trouble. She quickly got to her feet and shuffled her way to the screen the officer was viewing. "Send word to the captain. He'll want to see this."

While their captain was informed of the situation Rico pulled out a small makeup base and began riffling with her hair in its mirror, trying to seem like she did't have a bad case of bed head. She was so embarassed. But what could she do. These night shifts were killing her.

Chaos ensued on the two pirate Corvettes approaching Mon Gazza. They were both full of tension, rage and... singing. The crew had to keep up their morale somehow, after all. However, one of the pirates in the command room of one of those Corvettes frowned, then looked at Jer'tar.

"Cap'n, it seems we have company!" He yelled and Jer'tar's eyes narrowed on him.

"Listen, ye thrice-damned bastard, am I commanding one or two ships?" He asked in an angry whisper. However, before the officer could answer, he fell on floor, dead from a blaster shot. Jer'tar grinned as he put down his blaster pistol. "That's commodore for the rest of ye, ye mutinous scurvy dogs." he growled and the crew in the command room either roared, thirsty for more blood, or shifted uneasily. However, there was no time for them to be uneasy. The ships approached and the commodore grinned. "Looks like our friends from the Accord. Show 'em what we think about their meddlin', scoundrels!" He yelled into the com link. Both Corvettes got into an attacking formation and began firing at the Accord's ships.

The ship listed to the side and the overhead lights flickered as the captain ran down the hallway to the bridge. The door slid open, revealing the command staff already in the progress of responding, bringing the ship around and away from the raiders. He nodded to his second, who stood from the captain's seat and resumed his console as the bothan sat down. "Status?"

"Two corvettes and various modified transports, previously on a planetary intercept course, just came into extreme weapon range. Looks like they're in a rudimentary attack formation, and have begun firing on us. Shields are holding."

He confirmed, pulling up his own set of data projections. No discernible identification, but it wasn't hard to deduce that they where raiders. And they where closing.

"Bring us around, helm. Call back the starfighters from their patrols and tell their squadron leader to form up on us." He paused, inhaling deeply. "And... hail the local planetary picket." Several of the bridge crew turned their heads sharply at that order. Nothing had been said vocally yet, but most knew that they where looking to take down the planetary government. Which made asking for the assistance of their picket an act of desperation. But, as good as their ship was, they wouldn't stand a chance against two heavily armed raiding ships and whatever transports they brought to fight. Best case, at least some would make it planetside, and that could spell disaster for the local miners.

"Ho'Xra, you've a gap in your sensor net... coordinates 2252 mark 0893. Redirect your auxiliary power to sensor suite."

"Roger that, extending sensor net."

"Alright, let's finish these last few sectors, eh? Sooner we complete our scans, sooner we can--"

"Rogue, come in?"

Artemis sighed audibly. She didn't have the Force, but she knew when what was likely to be bad news was coming.

"Aye, I'm 'ere, Deyat. What do ye have for me?"

"Priority message from... Commander Voz; hard contact made during patrol routine. They've been intercepted by an unidentified fleet!"

"Vector Squadron, on m'six. Disengage patrols, fall back into unified formation. Divert all shield power to fore, reserves to the supplement thrusters an' engines. Have weapons at the ready—we're going in hot. And watch ye'h sensor suite, this could be danger-close. I don't want any friendly fire."

Artemis quickly adjusted her starfighter's systems to maximize traversal speed, mitigating all unused power and priming her weapons array. The aviatrix couldn't help but sneer at her console; Guardian-class fighters were built for combat and had enough firepower to sate even the most destructive Mandalorian's instincts. That said, they consumed resources rather quickly; for the preservation of fuel cells, patrols were conducted through the much lighter RAI fighers. However, the difference in armaments was too stark to overlook... or to not be disappointed about.

"Deyat, any information on the enemy ships? How many, what kinds we'll be up ag'inst?"

"Transmission was just a combat/recall order. Sorry, Vector Leader."

"We'll live, lass", Artemis remarked, noticing the flashing of her battle sensor suite. "Hostile signatures coming inta range. All units, prepare for attack run!"

As the battlefield came into view, two corvette-class star cruisers appeared at the head of the enemy fleet. It took only a brief glance at her scanners to see the high-frequency electromagnetic field emanating from the vessels. "Heads up, Vector Squadron; enemy shields are live", she said, instinctively reaching for a small transition dial near the weapons panel. The ion setting dial. Fierfek!, she'd thought to herself, forgetting again she was in a comparatively lightly armed starfighter. "Coordinate attacks for surgical strikes. Use ye'h missile payloads on vital systems t'drain or divert shield strength. Hit t'bastards sternside, target engines or shield generators!"

Swooping the fighters around the edge of the zone of engagement, the Accord fighters broke into unilateral formations, each beginning their attacks. In like manner, Artemis targeted down after looping her fighter to be overhead to the rear of the foremost corvettes, firing her laser cannons with a missile payload to one corvette's engine unit. It wouldn't be enough to destroy them, but it would ideally cause damage, and more importantly, divert power.

"Cap - uh... commodore!" yelled one of the pirates sitting behind the ship's computer. His name was Joey and he was assigned a place on the bridge as he was one of the few pirates literate enough to handle it. Jer'tar turned to face him, and nodded at him. "Commodore, it seems they have back-up! Fighters everywhere!" Said Joey, reading from the data on the computer. Jer'tar cursed. They could have easily overpowered one ship, but those fighters could prove to be a problem. And he did not murder his way up the scoundrel social ranks to be stopped by a bunch of mini-ships. With a growl, Jer'tar scratched his beard.

"Change of plan, lads. Begin raidin' now. NOW!" he yelled through his comm device, and the crew started manning various transport pods, heading towards the surface of the planet. However, this was going badly. Jer'tar knew that those transports are nearly defenseless. Plus, those starfighters are hard to hit. He almost hit his head as the ship shook under fire of those fighters. Joey was fast like never before.

"Divertin' power from weapon systems to shield generators, sir!" he said, doing that. Jer'tar imagined strangling him for a moment.

"Can ye say that in common?" he growled at Joey. Joey sighed and rethought choices he made in his life.

"Uh... less boom boom, more protection, commodore."

While her captain came up to the bridge and assumed command, she would stand off to the side for a moment while he worked on getting everything situated. Once he stopped barking orders at everyone she would move a little closer to him and ask, "Sir, what do you want me to do?" She was fully prepared to take the bridge in his absence, that's why she'd been going through the simulations non-stop. But, he'd also know she was a damn-good pilot. Either way, standing here uselessly was a waste of her talents and both of them knew it.

"You're my first officer." He replied. "You need to learn that you can't always be in the action." The Bothan was grooming Rico; preparing her for her own command. If he had to name a couple of things she had to work on, her need for activity was one of them. She had a hard time observing and waiting. Staying out of the direct action. A good captain had to know how to delegate tasks out and trust he or she picked the best person for the job.

She was a great pilot. But she could be an even better captain, if she focused.

Outside, the enemy ships deployed some sort of pod. Looked like a modified escape pod. The group shot down, heading for the surface. "Get the starfighters on those pods." He ordered to his communications officer. "We'll take care of the corve-" A large explosion sounded as an enemy torpedo impacted the shields, cutting the captain off. The whole bridge shook violently, and an explosion could be heard somewhere from the back of the ship. "Impact! Hull breach in the starboard weapon bank. Emergency bulkheads are locked." The officer looked back to the captain, and turned pale as she saw him slumping over his chair, unconscious or dead. She was hoping for the former.

"You're my first officer. You need to learn that you can't always be in the action."

"Yes, Sir," she would try to say obediently. But in her heart she was sad. She didn't like just sitting back and letting everyone else work and fight on her behalf. But that was what a captain was being about...right? She took a step back and would sit in one of the abandoned chairs so she wouldn't be in anyone's way. Still, she watched her captain work and operate and tried to absorb as much information as she could from him. There was still so much to learn.

"Get the starfighters on those pods. We'll take care of the corve-"

Rico would shriek as the ship shook with an explosion. She was almost thrown out of her chair, but luckily held herself tight as they came through the quake.

"Impact! Hull breach in the starboard weapon bank. Emergency bulkheads are locked."

Hearing they'd be shot worried the redhead. She looked up to her captain for orders, hoping he'd give her some new instruction. But what she saw seemed to freeze time. The man was slumped over in his chair and not moving. Her body reacted before she could comprehend what she was doing. Rico was by his side a second later and checking for his vital signs. A pulse. Slow, but present.

"Someone get a medic!" she screamed, not sure at all what she could do for him. Her only priority was his safety right now. If her brain could focus she would know that this wasn't what she should be focusing on, but she was a little shell shocked right now.
