Force Reinforcement

Known Applications · Limitations and Drawbacks · Learning · Intent · Other Notes

A heavily focused form of force body augmentation, force reinforcement is a force power used to increase the density of one's own body. Drawing on and channeling the force through and into the body, a user can change their body to resist physical forms of damage. This is not an instinctive state of being but rather an active technique that can allow Force Users some greater measure of protection for a time.

_

Known Applications

Augmented Strength. Through reinforcing one's body, the force allows a person to have a greater capacity to lift objects, create small kinetic shock waves through a stomp or clap, put more force behind jumps or combat maneuvers, and just in general show enhanced feats of physical strength when compared to the average humanoid.

Enhanced Durability. Through the use of this technique, Force Users are able to reduce the severity of damage they receive from a variety of physical means. Damage from falling or being thrown into objects is greatly reduced and blunt force attacks will often be shrugged off without real injury.

Limitations and Drawbacks

Active Maintenance. This power needs to be activated to be used and puts a constant strain on a Force User's reserves of Force Energy and mental fortitude to keep active. An inexperienced force user may find it hard to maintain the ability for more than a few minutes at a time, while more experienced force users could potentially keep it active for up to an hour.

Intense Focus. In order to use this ability, a force user must clear their mind and slow their breath to a near crawl while concentrating. While possible to be activated while in distress (i.e. falling from a height), this is a Force Technique that can only be used in conjunction with other Force Techniques or complex attacks by experienced Force Users that have greater discipline in the force than average (aka level 3 and 4 Force Users).

Only Physical Resistance. This power mimics the effect of adding density to a person with the Force to help against physical attacks, but will do nothing to make that same person Blaster-resistant, Energy-resistant or Lightsaber-resistant. They are just as vulnerable to energy attacks while using this ability as they are without.

Solidified Form. A cost of reinforcing the body with the force would be speed and flexibility. A user of this power can easily be at a disadvantage against opposition that is rather agile, or have slower reflexes than they would otherwise due to the strain it puts on their body as the force flows through it consistently to form that solid barrier.

Learning

Any force user that is able to effectively use force augmentation has the potential to use Force Reinforcement, though not very well without specific training. It is an ability that can take years to learn and decades to master. In order to use it with any sort of effective way, the user needs to have spent a decent bit of time solely practicing the power.

Ooc: Theoretical/novice understanding at level 1, but no legitimate application until level 2 or higher + specific plot(s) dedicated to studying it further

Intent

Just in general, I thought density manipulation could be an interesting variant of force body augmentation. We've seen the force aid people with agility, speed, etc. in the past and I think the force essentially doing the opposite could be fun to write. I also found the force ability Soft to Solid, and I felt like expanding upon it and fleshing it out past what is presented.

Other Notes

Stole this template from @Deviant, got help from @Nefieslab for the descriptions

Greater abilities to lift objects, create shockwaves, etc. are ALL things a Force user can do with general TK type moves. They can enhance every ability with the Force to *already* go far and above an average humanoid. The Force is treated as a seamless ability, and not everything needs a submission. Every single thing you've described above are things people can already do if they focus the Force to that area. You can slam your fist into the ground to send a shockwave, you can jump up and slam down to crush things from focusing the Force, etc.

I feel like there's not a clear description of what this does. On one hand it sounds like your run of the mill thing you can do with things like Force barrier, Force speed, etc. On the other, you reference Force to solid, which is an entirely different thing. Which one are you trying to describe? It needs to be one or the other. If you're trying to submit a Force power that builds up your limbs to be like body armor, that's not going to help you move or jump faster. Then that begs the question of how it's any different than just using a Force barrier...

Greater abilities to lift objects, create shockwaves, etc. are ALL things a Force user can do with general TK type moves. They can enhance every ability with the Force to *already* go far and above an average humanoid.

I guess it could use better clarification in the description. I'll need to find a better way to word it, but it's essentially just hardening the density of your entire body to have greater protection and strength while sacrificing mobility and dexterity (semi-solid limbs, etc.)

I'll try and edit some time later today when I'm less busy if not later this weekend.

@Malon You can archive this for now, I might rework it into something viable later but rn I'm busy with RL stuff and don't have much time for the site
