Yessir, I think it's sort of a local thing, we put chili on everything. Beef, pork, onion, chili beans/powder, tomato sauce, and lots of peppers. I just food coma'd.

I'm still alive, and I've made more food.

For Breakfast... Scrambled Eggs with lotta pepper and a pure Bacon Sandvich. Contains wheat bread, miracle whip and ketchup. Don't dis it until you've tried it.

Next up is some spicy spegetti and meatballs. I use Angel Hair for noodles and some basic tomato sauce until I can make my own. However, I season and add additional goods to the sauce to make it better. Meatballs is lean ground beef so there is little to no fat when they are cooked. They are seasoned right on the outside before being cooked.

So a few nights ago, I got hungry. So I made some mashed potatoes from actual potatoes. I also made my own meatloaf from the oven, with some sharp chedder in the middle and on the top of it. In the end, it turned out to be a good meatloaf I was experimenting seasons and herbs with.

These are just creations I've cooked because I love cooking food. "Healthiest" I made was grilled chicken, baked potato and some baked beans.

There would have been green beans in that meatloaf picture, but I'd rather not open a full can of them only for one third of it while the rest goes in the fridge.

Healthy or not, it still looks tasty. Except for the bacon sandwich. I'm just not a fan of bacon.

As an awful, awful, non-observant Jew, I will thumbs up the liberal use of bacon. Though healthy food does not necessarily have to be awful tasting. Roasted tomatoes and arugula with some balsamic vinegar, olive oil, and kosher salt? Tasty goodness.

And I can attest also to the weird goodness of chili spaghetti. It's a staple in the Southwest and it works.

I cook for myself every day, but lately I've been baking a lot.

I didn't get to glaze said cinnamon rolls because people in my dorm pretty much gobbled them all up as they were cooling, but they were quite tasty.

I have to say... I've been craving those for a few days now. lol

Next on the menu was this made yesterday. Two breakfast sandviches. One has about ten pieces of bacon(Actualy 5 with each cut in half) and loaded with ketchup and miracle whip. The other is a fried egg with miracle whip. Both are on wheat bread, the only type of sandvich bread I'll eat.

This was a few years ago. Some BBQ spare ribs, BBQ baked beans and a skinned baked potato. Also a side of ketchup for said spare ribs.

Also a few years ago. If you look closely, you'll see a hotdog and hamburger under the mounds of chili, cheese and onions. Disgusting looking? Yes. Tasty? I forgot.

Pizza I made a few months back, all told we had bacon, ground beef, pepperoni, snausage, ham, cheddar cheese, mozzarella, smoked gouda, havarti cheese, onion, I believe the sauce was a combination of Primo pizza sauce, franks red hot sauce and some diced jalapenos...oh and the ground beef was sauted in beer, and we marinated some chicken wings in our secret sauce for 4 hours, cooked them and put them on the pizza...'twas delicious ^_^

Phil: Love baked beans. Though ever since moving east, I haven't really had any good barbecue. *CRAVE*

Matt: Not like you Brits are much better: http://www.nationmaster.com/graph/hea_obe-health-obesity.

And to be fair, home cooking actually helps cut down obesity, if you do it right. I avoid pretty much all processed food, can my own vegetables, etc. I'm lucky though. Grew up with chefs, farmers, butchers, etc. in the family, so I know how to skin, clean, etc. animals from beginning to finish. I actually think meals like Phil's are pretty innocuous (if, like everything in life, it's done with moderation) but that the modern food system is what's pretty much dooming most Americans (and Britons) to not being able to see their own feet.

Shiuzu: I'm a purist when it comes to pizza (fresh roasted tomatoes, some fresh mozzarella, delicious) but that looks pretty tasty. Make your own dough? If not, I actually have a recipe that's fairly easy. It does take some waiting around for it, though...

I'm making chocolate babkes right now. Will have pictures up if they last long enough.

For now, enjoy a casatiello. It's an Italian Easter Bread filled (in this case) with sopressata, fontina cheese, capers, kalamata olives, and herbs. Tasty goodness.

This one, too, did not last long.

Totally agree with the above. So much of what folks call food these days are processed food that I wouldn’t even think about touching, let alone consume.

We try to buy locally grown food as much as possible. Also we happen to grow most of our veggies during the summer months. We love all things green and fresh, and lots of herbs. Funny thing though, last summer, we had an interesting encounter with the local police. The details alone are insane- so I will spare you- but some how a policemen confused our herb garden as a marijuana garden.

At any rate, home cooked meals and fresh veggies are the best thing one can consume, imho.

One was homemade one was storebought. Only because we were decently drunk at the time. The fact that we didn't burn the house down was pure luck. I would love to have your recipe though. I'm always looking to add more to my giant book of recipes. Also your casatiello looks delicious. For Christmas I made homemade panettone. And christmas day I used what was left to make French toast. An idea I picked up from Giada de Laurentiis
