As advised, my request for continuation :)

My charrie Laya, has been around here for a while, although the Jedi are unaware of her to this point. She has been spending her time, coming off the end of her bio history in fact, here

so my question is, to complete her search, can anyone point me to an existing story arc/thread where she can appear. Having been given the co-ordinates to find her eventual master and mentor? :D

Just be patient. I remember when I was new and it took a while to get my feet wet. I know some of our users are still in school and taking finals. Those who just took their exams probably want a mental break. You could see if there are any open thread available. Also, hang around and see what missions get posted and sign up for those. You seem pretty nice, but I believe that you could benefit from just learning how to search around, join some OOC threads, and getting to know everyone. As long as you have a good attitude and keep at it, you'll be making friends to RP with in no time!

Thanks Scarlet. I guess its just that I am not used to the format here. Where I do most of my RPing (my own forum) and others I've been on; there is always one big central story and you need to have the GM's either invite you or at best, once your charries been approved, point you in the right direction, saying something like...."here, you can start her here>>>"
As you can see, I've had her going now for a while since I was here and I wanted to continue with that, the next phase so to speak. That was why I only asked, is there an ongoing thread where she can turn up? A Jedi thread, a temple thread or something. Somewhere that has something going on, possibly where a Jedi would notice her arrival.

I look at the boards and see so many thread arcs and OOC stuff, my head hurts. That is partially because I have aspergers and I don't absorb huge amounts of info too well all at once. I just need a small shove, that's all.

As far as existing threads to join you can send a message to the people in any of the threads in the temples. Not a lot of new threads are starting with The Battle of Anoth raging, but you could always start an open thread in a training room, the library, going for a walk under the trees in Arbra, and see who shows up. You're not the only one with a newer Jedi so there will probably be some interest.

I know that doesn't help much to narrow you down, but hopefully that gives you some options.

well the battles are between selected individuals, so you can't just jump in the thread. You have to ask permission from the 3 combatants on each side before posting.

Or do like some others and ask around to see if anyone wants to do an anoth battle thread, there might actually still be some looking for participants. I'd recommend checking out the Story OOC and Roleplaying OOC boards, for threads about that exact thing.

I'm not with the jedi ( but that will change shortly, hehe!) but from what I can see, the battle is split into several smaller "duels" whose participants were hand picked by jedi and sith leadership, but as far as I can tell, you can get along with other Sith and jedi who aren't participating in these duels and make your own "sub-battles" with them. Hope this helps!

this is so confusing to me. As I explained, I am so not used to playing like this..all these individual stories. I can't get my head around it at all... isn't there a single one story that is run by a GM that everyone can get involved in? A central plot theme ??? I really don't get it, its like facebook..... I thought it was going to be a BIG adventure here for me :( by that I mean, one main story, that everyone can get into....???? confused as hell now.

Also, the battles have already long started. I tried to ask if I could join, and couldn't (for the best, my padawans suck at fighting). You'll have to duel or figure out another fight to join. If I'm wrong, well, I'm wrong, but this is one time I'm pretty sure I could be right.

With so many people it would be impossible to get everyone in one main story thread. Here there are a couple "Main Story" threads that affect everything that goes on. The rest of the time everyone tries to tell their individual story somehow. A lot of Jedi make training threads and practice their powers, or go on Missions for the good of the Order.

Hutts try to steal things/murder people, the Sith try to do whatever Sith do (I assume competitive puppy murdering).

These threads might feel disconnected, but they can easily connect to something bigger. For an example, Mizchno recently dueled a Sith Master for the fun of dueling, which spun off a Jedi Investigation Mission so we could find him before the Sith tortured our temple locations out of him.

There is one big story... it's just broken up into multiple threads, to avoid the mass confusion of having to dig through a single thread for a post that you missed. Things of that nature. I really think you are over thinking things. Look at it this way, the Jedi are about to be pushed out of the temples by the Sith. Who are basically going Chuck Norris on everyone right now. The Jedi are merely trying to survive at this point.

I suggest reading the Jedi History, or the Site History threads. They will explain of main conflict that you are referring too in great detail.

You can ask a Sith player to get an individual sub-battle in Anoth, you just can't be on the Main Threads since the participants there were hand picked.

thank you all, I appreciate it. I did take the time when I first came here to read everything, I think I spent a couple of days doing that. And I do get it, the size of the forum. Where I do my Stargate RPing, we would have one story, like here I guess, that is broken up into different location threads. You might have as many as ten people posting in one thread, but every single thread of the story is connected, in our case via the commander at the SGC.

Getting back to my original request. I don't really want to start a brand new topic thread from scratch. I have a story which I had hoped would bring my character to the Jedi where she belongs. Then go from there. I'm very reluctant to just start up a one on one thread with no link to what is going on elsewhere with the main players. Does that make sense?

It makes sense. It does. But look at it like this... The threads make up the entire story, because those main players started where you are and over time they grew to be the main players.

Do you know what I'm doing every point of the day? No, but the reverse is also true. I don't know a thing about you. The same can be said for each character that we play too. But if one day you became the president of the United States, or Prime Minister of England or something. Then I'd know about you, but you still wouldn't know about me.

This is the same for the RP. You live out your characters existences and maybe... just maybe they'll be in the spotlight. Don't be scared about starting a thread, just always make an OOC thread to go along with your story thread. It will get the thread noticed easier, because it is easier to express what the thread will encompass and recruit people to it with an overview than an opening post to a thread.

EDIT: Rengar (my Jedi) is too focused on training to do much socializing. I keep myself to a single thread or two, while others have many threads they participate in.
