[ARC trooper silencer]

a clone wakes up in a pod surrounded by vines. he feels cold and alone. this clone then asks himself:

where am i?

this clone trys and trys again but fails to get out of the pod. soon he grows tired. he falls back asleep, this time not in stasis.

Amos approached the stasis pod cautiously. In the days following the Battle of Felucia, the Free World Alliance, the Jedi, and the Sector Rangers, had begun securing the planet. The Felucians were, by and large, grateful to be out from the oppressive boot of the Sith, and were serving as guides amidst the dangerous jungles of the planet as the last pockets of Sith resistance were eliminated. Amos didn't see much fieldwork, but the nature of this particular mission required a more delicate approach than many of the Rangers were capable of providing.

The stasis pod sat amidst the roots of a fallen mushroom destroyed by the bombing, covered in vines. The faded paint on the side indicated that it was very old, but the guide swore up and down that they'd heard someone trying to get out. Indeed, as Amos approached, he could see that the door was partially open and that several vines were keeping it from opening.

Amos was many things, but stealthy was no one of them. His boots crunched noisily across the jungle floor, betraying his approach. He carried no weapons and, because of his comfortable build, was clearly not a soldier; so he wasn't worried about being mistaken as a threat by the clone trooper inside the stasis pod. Instead, Amos cleared his throat and called out.

"Hey, trooper, you're finally awake" he said, stopping just outside the stasis pod. "I'm guessing that you have questions? I'm Amos, and I can help you answer them as we work to get you out of your pod."

the trooper startled by this man, felt like pulling out his blaster but then he herd his voice and responded ¨Im CT-9987. but you can call me silencer. how long was i asleep?¨ he asked trying to escape the pod. ¨has the CIS lost to the GAR yet?¨ he also asked.

Amos wanted to help the clone leave the escape pod, as helping people was in his nature, but there was one quick test Silencer would have to take first.

"Well met, Silencer. Yes, the CIS has been defeated. As for how long you've been asleep? You've been out for a while; I can tell you accurately, but I need to know the last contingency order that you received from the Chancellor in order to give you the best estimate."

Amos moved to begin clearing some of the vines with a knife. He worked slowly and was careful not to let the clone free just yet, because Silencer's answer to his question- namely, whether or not he had received the infamous Order 66- would help determine how safe it would be to let the clone out.

the last order i got was to take this planet from the CIS. he responded. all i remember is that the clone war was in its third year.

Amos paused his efforts, trying to think. The clone's answer indicated that he was still active uncomfortably close to Order 66; Jedi master Aayla Secura had been gunned down by clones towards the end of the Battle of Felucia in the Clone Wars' third year... but there were no Jedi around, so the Ranger decided to make good on his promise to Silencer. Amos slowly cut away another vine; one or two more, and the clone could leave the stasis pod. Time to start bringing Silencer up to speed as gently as possible.

"Silencer, there's no easy way to say this. The Clone Wars ended over 150 years ago. You are, most certainly, the only clone still alive. I'm sorry."

The General. The pieces were starting to fall into place. Battle of Felucia near the end of the Clone Wars? Check. Armor with yellow markings? Check. Concern for a much-beloved female General- the rank held by Jedi? Check.

Even Amos, with more than a decade of experience with remaining composed in the face of trauma, couldn't keep a look of sadness from his face as the unhappy history of Order 66 weighed on him; a history which more than complicated the answer to the clone's questions.

"She..." Amos paused, dreading the news he was about to share. "General Secura was betrayed, along with the rest of the Jedi, when Chancellor Palpatine declared them enemies of the Republic in a bid for power. He issued Order 66, causing Aayla Secura, along with hundreds of Jedi, to be killed by their own clone troopers. Amos continued, trying to make his history lesson as painless as possible. "In doing so, Palpatine betrayed the clones as well; first by forcing them to carry out Order 66 and then by conquering much of the galaxy with them after the CIS surrendered. Instead of fighting droids, their guns were turned against the very citizens they were born to protect. The Republic became the Empire, which fell approximately 144 years ago. I'm afraid that the Grand Army of the Republic is no more."

Amos paused again, giving time for Silencer to process the information. "I'm sorry" he finally said, wishing that there was anything else he could say.

shocked by the response silencer was silent before some words escaped his mouth with anger. what the heck is order 66? his anger tuned to sadness as he said: the generals did nothing wrong. what is order 66 and why was it executed? why did my brothers kill her? and can you get me out of this pod?

The clone's outpouring of emotion was expected, but that didn't make it any easier to listen to. Grief and pain weighed heavy in Silencer's words, and Amos breathed deeply before answering in order to collect his thoughts.

"I'll answer your questions in a different order than you asked them" Amos replied. "There is one more vine for me to- aha! Now you should be able to exit" he called to the clone. Amos' suspicions that Silencer had been involved in Order 66's bloody execution had been assuaged, so there was no reason to distrust the clone any more.

"Order 66, as I understand it, was a contingency executive order that could only be issued by the senate- or, in the case of Chancellor Palpatine, a Chancellor with emergency powers. It deemed the Jedi traitors to the Republic and ordered the GAR to use lethal force against them. Most clones complied. A few did not, for reasons known only to themselves."

After giving Silencer some time to process, Amos decided to ask a question. "The Republic which you once served exists no more. You are not tied to any command structure or government. What do you think you will do next?"

"I don't know" admitted Amos as he helped Silencer out of the pod. The Rangers sometimes worked closely with the Jedi, but not close enough for Amos to say whether any of them would welcome the services of a clone trooper. The Jedi were also an independent group, no longer tied to a governing body as they had been in the past, so while they found themselves on battlefields across the galaxy they rarely took official command positions. "But that question can be answered later. Let's tend to your needs right now." The pained grunt from the clone had not escaped Amos' attention. "Are you injured?"

i mean my leg hurts. he responded. and if i cant serve the jedi i would like to work along side you. then he took out his DC-15 and rested it on his shoulders.

"I'll call for a medic" Amos said in response to the clone's comment about his injury. "As for who you work with, that is ultimately your decision. I fear that galactic war is once again on the horizon and the Jedi may find themselves leading troops into battle, so you may see action once again if you wish. As for working with me, I'm a Sector Ranger stationed on Coruscant. My job is usually a desk job, but there's many fine humanoids who see action as part of our field corps. Regardless, I can put in a good word for you."

Amos wasn't concerned about sticking his neck out for Silencer. By all accounts, the clones had been completely loyal, incredibly capable troops and the 327th had earned more than their fair share of honors. It would be a few minutes before the medics arrived, so Amos gestured for Silencer to take a seat so as to take the pressure off of the injured leg.

"So Silencer" he asked, "how did you get your name?"

Amos nodded in acknowledgement of the clone's answer. "Any particular mission stick out to you?" he asked. Amos rarely left his office and liked the sanctity of that space, but he never turned down the opportunity to listen to field stories from his fellow Rangers. The more he thought on it, the more the chance finding of a clone trooper excited him. The Empire had destroyed a good many records on the Clone Wars, and here was an opportunity to get a firsthand account of the legendary Clone Wars.

Amos chuckled. "And you've been here for more than 150 years without anyone knowing that you were here, too!" he replied.

Amos was enjoying getting to know Silencer; the clone was as unique as any that he had heard of. "Do you have any special skills or tools that you like to use?" he asked. Silencer appeared to have a standard-issue blaster, but a trained spy would certainly have other tools at their disposal.
