BIOGRAPHY

A Life Taken
Death is a natural part of life. Widows, Widowers, and Orphans are made everyday. Fara was never sheltered from this reality as she grew up, it was a bleak outlook, but it held some small trappings of hope for the future. Presently things weren't well for the young woman who never knew her mother and saw less and less of her father as he pursued one case or another endlessly. Dead end after dead end with frustrations boiling over and often leaving Fara as the victim. Fara didn't blame her father for this, just another lesson he taught her about harsh realities. One such reality came to roost in Fara's life as one of her father's dead ends became his dead end. Drowned in his own blood in a godforsaken alley, mistaken for the street trash he helped clean up. He was 42, she was 17. It was a bleak situation, but still there were trappings of hope.

Growing Apart
Fara Wei registered to become a detective like her father. She was given all the help she desired and was led to a series of contacts and soon to be friends that would guarantee her a strong position, respect, and fairly decent advancement. It was only natural for Fara to self-sabotage and get herself kicked out of the police exam on a technicality. Seeing so few good things, she didn't know it for a trap. Fara was left adrift, young and restless, it was wonder she didn't become a criminal herself, but fear, pragmatism, and bleak reluctance towards optimism led her straight along the razors edge of corruption and zeal.

Without any prior experience and armed only with her wits and a life of seeing a fine detective at work, Fara set to ply her trade as an investigator set apart, a private eye. Soon she was found haunting cantinas, picking through garbage, and speaking endlessly to the undergrowth of society. Far away the young woman's situation appeared desperate, but with a little digging gold swiftly came to the surface.
A Killer Loosed
Fara Wei gained a reputation for extreme dedication to her clients. She took only one case at a time until it was satisfactorily concluded on dropped. This dogmatic principle endeared her to her regulars, but didn't always sit well with those who desired her to branch out so they could receive assistance. Dedication and obsession are often more a matter of perception than two separate ideas and that was proven true when Fara took on the case of the Krugar Killer.

At first it was yet another murderer among many, but as initial reports came in and coincidences became a trail, Fara smelled a blood familiar. This Krugar Killer always left a cigar by his victims, a vain marking and a rare vice. While this helped with profiling it also directly connected to a cold case the private eye had never solved, her father's murder.

Armed with branching evidence that whipped under the winds of speculation and left her reaching for more information, Fara still desperately sought a name, a face, a shoe size, anything to hunt down this phantom that haunted her dreams. Night ended abruptly with the arrest of the killer and Fara's stubborn insistence got her father's murder added to the list of charges. Through this move Fara doomed lady justice to a blindside as the clever lawyer discovered multiple official documents putting the Krugar Killer on another system at the time of her father's murder. This revelation coupled with a few inconsistencies allowed the accused to walk free. Within a week another victim was found, this one with two cigars.

He was taunting her.

Soon enough the accused was found with two shots in his stomach. Whoever his assailant was, they at least had the decency to look their victim in the eye before shooting. And she didn't blink as she pulled the trigger.

PERSONALITY

Fara Wei had a desk that was very telling. Upon it you'd find every tool needed for daily tasks all neatly piled and ready for use. This extended to her weapons and field tools, which she meticulously maintained. Despite these few bright spots, this didn't stop her office/home from being an absolute mess. Wanted posters, dossiers, files, testimony, and IOUs from poor customers all intermingled and became one massive conglomeration of vital information choked from flowing freely into the coffers of the investigator's mind.

One could speculate Fara's lack of motherly care led to her pack rat nature, but truly it was by design. Strewn about and stashed randomly it seemed like utter chaos to an onlooker, but to Fara the placement of each and every item was meticulously recorded in her mind. Thoughts centered on drifting papers and cooling cases and rarely if ever did they think of personal matters. That's how she liked it, busy, fast, dirty.

No time for breaks, no time to smell the roses, no time for love, Fara Wei had one obsession and a faint hope lingered with it. She obsessed over her current case and wondered silently if it's conclusion would at last prove her dying optimism had reason to exist. For now ashes still glowed, but the dark of despair was closing in. It didn't take a detective to see that.
