I really like the introductory "welcome to the faction" paragraphs.

Yeah, those were important since there are certain things that need to be made as clear as possible, like how training isn't a requirement. Also figure that ranks are going to be the first place people go to, because it's part of character creation, so it made sense to have some history and general faction info in the rank threads.

Quick question: Say I start out as a Padawan/Acolyte; since Training is no longer mandatory and the Padawan/Acolyte Rank is optional would it be up to the player to decide when their character had had enough training to rank up to Knight/Sith? Or would the impetus be on someone else (e.g. FL or whoever is your Jedi Master)?

It'd be up to the player to decide. You'd just need to let the FL/AFLs know you're ready to rank up, so your place on the roster can be updated.

I'm liking the new write ups basic but comprehensive enough to give the flavour needed

Looking forward to getting the criteria for moving up. For Jedi it would seem to be a lot more democratic in that you were chosen for by someone, but over in Sith land you have to take it yourself by force. Hopefully killing someone won't be a specific needed criteria to move up, as A) we have no Sith Lords to kill and the take place of yet and B) it would get really annoying if the moment you got any kind of power a bajillion different Sith all tried to kill you at once. At least being a FL or assistant FL means people would be a bit hesitant to challenge you. It would make being a Sith Lord more dangerous than being the Dark Lord or even Supreme Leader

really loving the writeups! also really again love the fact padawan is no longer a required rank, so my character can be a former-knight without needing to beg for permission from the FL like last timeline. im really hyped for tomorrow or monday or whenever everything resets!

I agree. I sometimes like to go through training sessions, but it seems like the training gets tedious and I stop participating because I can't do anything but train (in the past). So taking that out of the equation is super awesome and is helping me get totally pumped for this to START ALREADY!!!

I'm just going to put it out there, that if anyone does find themselves at an acolyte rank, and are having a shocking time trying to find a master. I am more than happy to try and work something out, just bare in mind, my character won't take crap. The training will be tough and it does take a little bit of commitment on your behalf to be active and post within the thread.

So if people are serious about training, and want to learn a bit of lightsaber combat ICly without too much risk, then i am happy to help out between main threads and my characters main story threads.

so if i have a grey jedi character i'm assuming they would need to be cleared by the jedi faction leader to be knight equivalent or any rank for that matter with regard to jedi arts and practices.

No, you don't need permission to have a former Jedi that is at Knight level, since all Jedi can start out at Knight level now.

my character is also the former padawan of a jedi master (played by a different person) that has also become a grey jedi. does the grey jedi master have to get permission from the faction leader or is there an admin or some other process in which that character must be approved?

If it's just an NPC, then no.

my self and Lav Savak were planning on being a duo that became grey jedi for various reasons but he has since benched his character though may still bring it back after the time line gets underway. i'm just wondering preemptively what he has to do if he wants to create such a character or if he is able to at all in the first place.

Any former Jedi higher than Knight would have to be approved by the Jedi FL.

In regards to the training thing, I personally think that a lot more people will find it enjoyable this time round. Why? Because it's not mandatory. There's this interesting thing that happens with people, where they're far more likely to enjoy something if it's not forced upon them. I think the same thing will happen with training in this timeline. It no longer being mandatory means that people will do it of their own accord, which means they'll have more fun doing it, since it will have lost that sour note and grindy feel that comes with having to do it. Knowing you have to do something changes the way you think about it, often for the worse, even if it's something you'd otherwise have found enjoyable.

But if they are wanting to become grey jedi wouldnt they need the clearance from the sith Fl also since they would walk the line between both?

Grey Jedi have nothing to do with the Sith, so no.

Depends on what you mean by "grey Jedi". If you mean "former members of the Jedi Order", then you'd need Jedi FL approval. If you mean "self-trained or independently-trained Force users, not affiliated with the Jedi or Sith", then I suppose the rules still apply; you start out Knight level
