DESCRIPTION
Initially designed as a hunting weapon for large fish, the pneumatic firing system was deemed overkill and was replaced by a rubber band system. However, a weapons manufacturer saw the possible combat applications and picked up on the design. Essentially, the F9 consists of a tube which has been modified cosmetically to fit the general assault rifle design both for familiarity and comfort purposes. For ammunition, the F9 utilizes 20 cm long harpoons which are manually loaded into the firing chamber. The internal workings of the F9 consist of a sealed internal barrel encased in a hollow sealed outer casing. The outer casing is filled with compressed air, which is then manually pumped by pulling a small handle on the side of the tube. The pressure inside is then increased as much as the user is able to pump it, though there comes a time when more pressure is practically impossible to build without damaging the weapon. Once the air in the outer casing has been pressurised, a harpoon must be inserted into the internal barrel aagainst the air pressure. Once the harpoon clicks inside, the weapon is loaded and ready to fire. Once the trigger is pulled, the air pressure is relesed which propells the harpoon forward with considerable force. The average pressure build allows for around 150-200 meters of range. Therefore, the harpoons fired by the F9 are highly destructive, cause greivous injuries to organic beings and can penetrate armor with ease. This resulted in the F9 being banned on most civilized systems and most gun vendors refusing to sell it because of it's barbaric nature. The basic harpoon fired by the F9 is a 20 cm long threaded durasteel spear with pinted tip surrounded by four barbs, designed to prevent easy removal. The harpoons themselves are easiliy modified with poisoning or explosive capabilities. A thin, long cable can also be attached to a harpoon to allow zip-lining.

LEGALITY
Illegal in most civilized systems.

INTENT
To create an exotic weapon capable of very high damage output in capable hands while also dealing with the shortcomings of being a speargun. Its very long reloading system ensures the weapon can ony fire as fast as the operator can load and aim it, which in turn makes the F9 better suited as a tool, with it's easy penetration and range making it ideal for special operations (zip-lines, tactical placement of explosives, etc.) while also remining a highly dangerous, borderline barbaric weapon.

ADVANCED TECH
YES. The F9 is a highly destructive weapon with high modularity and easily modifiable to suit a wide array of uses and implementations. It is not easiliy obtainable being illegal almost everywhere and on account of it no longer being in production the only way to acquire one would be to get one already in circulation, either from a black market vendor or by "relieving" an owner of their F9.

At a glance

average projectile speed of 90m/s.

Will need to be omitted. Per tech rules, all blaster bolts/projectiles/beams have the same travel speed.

Your range listing and the description dont match up. The max range on this thing should be much less than 250m. You'll also need to remove the explosives mention. That will need to be a separate submission and I dont want people getting confused about what they've got.
